so much garbage on web

Sometimes I just want to smash down my Asus. I tried IM before 2 years and i was inloved with theory.. but nothing on practice.

Why? I was confused. So much advices so much opinions, so much "How to" when i just wanted to SELL. So 2 years passed, no cash in my pocket from this IM stuff, and here I go.. Again here. With too much theory in my head and no idea where to start from.

Don't understand me wrong! I know basic advices- Adsense, Adwords.. Paid traffic, SEO... the problem is that i know EVERY basic advice, not concrete, special for my needs.

Im tend to pay for REAL help. Ive been cheated.. every mother ****er is waiting for post like "i want help. ill pay".

But i really like IM. I realy want direction (I'll pay) from someone who started from 0 ... direction is what i want, not knowledge itself!

I had a website once... but no traffic .. no stimulation for work. I tried almost everything...

    Focus to the simple thing.

    Search for a niche.
Setup a sales side for it.
Promote it via article marketing, social network marketing and so on.

Low cost, all chances open - and just a START!

Figure out what you want to sell/promote, set up a website, drive traffic to it. You can find free resources all over the web on how to do this. Don't make it more complicated than it is...

I was once in that situation but figured out the answer.. Its:

    Relax...
    Don't open any browser yet..
Inhale.. Exhale.. Do it 5 times
Now... Slowly and patiently think of what do you really want to do. Think of it this way.. Think on which field are you mostly knowledgeable and start there.

Concentrate on the other side of the equation of internet marketing - the value you actually give to your visitor or customer.

If you can establish what value you give them, even better - improve it - you'll be able to make better use of the other tactics by paying less than that to get a new customer. But, the business is driven by the value you provide to your market.

Don't put as much emphasis on your website. Study your market's needs.

Your market might not only need 'one product', it might need a number of products from you along with recommendations for other products. So, that means that your customer list is more central than any particular product you offer.

Practice an 'elevator pitch', a 30-second reason why you bring value to your market. Communicate that to your market.

This is wonderful advice, thank you MattRobson !! I've been o/d'ing on all the excellent help given on the WF but no one else seems to advise caring about your customers and their needs as opposed to just trying to get what you want. What a refreshing change of perspective - I will print this out and stick it on the front of my binder (and thank you to the Warriors who suggested the binder, it is turning my chaos into order )

@niuhmerch - try looking at your dilemma from this aspect, it will give you focus and a new view of IM.

Not all methods for making money with Internet marketing are created equally, it really depends on what you are trying to do. Once we know that, it will be easier to give concrete advice.

I know I wasted a ton of time trying to build affiliate sites with no luck, and I never made money until I produced my own product. Once I got that under my belt, affiliate marketing became much easier.

  • Look for those who are the "real deal". Plenty of men and women in the Warrior forum are generating revenue from the Internet. Anyone who knows what they are doing and are legit will tell you, "If it seems too good to be true, it is."

Early on, I had no idea who to trust, what was real, what was hype, what was worth pursuing. With time much became evident. Anytime I tried to follow the "get rich quick" advice, I fell flat on my butt.

When I was willing to treat my business like a business, things started working.

It is also a matter of figuring out what aspect of an IM business you most enjoy. As Midevilco states, "Not all methods for making money with Internet marketing are created equally." So true, so true.

The more you know about your own needs, wants and desires the easier the process becomes.

My guess is that after two years you have a few directions floating around in your mind on which way to pursue. My advice would be to carefully, very carefully, analyze every single one of those directions and decide which one has the most short term and long term potential. Then decide which one you think would be more stimulating and that you could be more pationate about.

This should give you the answer as to which way to pursue. Focus on something. All you need to do is be great in one area, not good in all areas.

And lastly, forget products and the latest and newest crap. People, including myself make good money from the basics. No fancy techy crap, just good business practice.

    Get er done

I have exactly same story and feelings when I started with IM. I didn't made any money in first 1-2 years and I was so frustrated then I made my first $30 and it was from program X. Later on I made $200 bucks in same and I was so happy.

So what I found is that there are thousands ways to make money online but you need find your own way. Test, test and test without spending money. You will find your way to make money. I hope this help.

Close your wallet first thing! Like Kenster said " No fancy techy crap, just good business practice." This is a real business, treat it like that and you will succeed. Find a product that you know others are successful at marketing, then just concentrate on learning how to drive traffic to that product. Forget trying to spend money on websites, hosting, seo, etc. Get a good package that is all put together then learn to drive traffic. I can't post a site here that may help you, but if you send me a message I could send you information that way.

Some are into PPC or email marketing etc. Get good at one and most important keep at it and if you pay anyone, make sure you know what your paying for. The best thing I think you can do is pick an area you'd like to specialize in and stick to it. Don't go reading about new products or trying to teach yourself an entirely new area of IM. You've been in this for two years - you know enough to know what interests you and what doesn't. You should also know enough about that to get started. Commit yourself to action. You say you have the knowledge, but not the practical experience? Go and get it.

It's so, so easy to get caught in a cycle of information overload in this industry. Close your web browser, stop reading, and start implementing what you know already. You'll never find success by knowing and not doing.

Nadia712 is so right. There is sooooo much information out there, good and bad, that for a newbie it can be overwhelming and give you nothing but headaches.

After two years though you have got more than enough information and knowledge in your head to become a huge success. Just start with something you love or know a lot about and put it into action.

ACTION is EVERYTHING! Without action you will never know what might have been or what the future holds. STOP reading and buying the latest 'must have' products and concentrate on what you already know.

      Build up from there!

Take a day or two and develop a plan before you actually start doing anything. Maybe this will help you get the ball rolling. Write down what you want to acheive and then actionable steps to get there. Write down goals and milestones, almost like a small micro-business plan.

One way that I promote and it is working is to approach website and product owners that are building a list (have opt in form on website) and offer them free books, audio and articles to promote to their lists. In return for your resource box or mention of your website in a link somewhere.

This has added meaning if it is your own product and they can get a % of the sales price.

Who would turn down free promotion tools and a % of the sales?

My advice is not to pay people for help unless you know them personally or can verify in some definite way (really difficult) that they really provide results for the people they help.
You need to figure out what you really like and what you're willing to spend your time on in IM, because that is the thing that will provide you with the motivation and enthusiasm that will keep you working hard day and day out. The results come from earnest enjoyment of your subject, because people respond to genuine interest in their subject of interest, and can see it in any writing, video, blog, w/e. Just figure out what you love the most and base your growing empire around that. THEN apply the theory of driving traffic and monetization behind your creation.

    First - Creation
    Second - Traffic
    Third - Monetization

Don't mean to sound preachy, so if I do, please forgive me. Just trying to offer my opinion on what may help you.

The best way to succeed is to fail a few times. That's what got me where I am. You have to try, before you fail though

My advice is try everything. Every idea. Put some faith and money in your ideas - and have some courage. I wasted a few hundred dollars on ideas, okay, but I know now that they were flawed in certain aspects, and there were also some pearls in there too. How would I be able to choose between ideas if all I did was theorise?

If you are looking at three traffic generation techniques, and each has great potential... then why keep weighing up the options? Why pit one against the other? Try all three. Try parts of each one, and mix it up a bit. Try until you are blue in the face. When you look back, you have got a load of results to choose from - not just theories and possibilities.

I used to think I had spent way too much on learning, with WSO's and ebooks. And now, I consider it money well spent. One ebook I bought was absoloute tosh, and cost me about $30, but it gave me an idea to put a certain type of footer in a PDF I was writing. It caught my eye, so assumed it would catch my readers' eyes too. That PDF went out to 500 wholesalers, and I made around £20,000 over 6 months just from that URL in the footer.

Do you have a website set up yet?

If not, start there. Pick something you really like doing to set it up for, and from there you start to apply the basic stuff you read so much about. Like I have Adsense on my site. That's likely all I'll ever do since it's not about money, I just need a way to cover overhead. But again it's a good place to start.

Maybe you are overwhelmed by all the info you don't know where to start? I know what that's like.

      • I would like to throw my 2 cents in here. To start, you must do your research and enter a business with a product that has a demand. Next, you need to find out the competition level. Competition is good, but too much can cause you to waste your time. If you don't remember anything else, you need to remember those two things.

    Hi niuhmerch,

I think you can tell from the responses so far that many people have experienced the exact same situation that you are experiencing right now. What makes them victors, rather than victims of this all too common situation is that they found a way to breakthrough the frustration and get on the right track.

There is some excellent feedback in this thread.

Despite what some would have you believe, IM is NOT complicated. I spent a long time learning IM because I wanted to be perfect from the start (FoF). Finally I just decided to just put together a high quality product that addresses the needs of my market with a good offer and promote it via free methods. The result? The 5th visitor to my site invested in my $97 product! That was my start of my IM career. The frustrating thing? I could have done this years before if I had followed only the advice in this thread so far.

    You can do this, niuhmerch!

    Andy.

I'm so sorry for hear that you have spent 2 years in learning IM but not making money from each yet. Maybe you should stop learning and start doing because doing is the best way to learn something.

Choose a path you want to follow, any path, niches. Then, determine how you can make money with that niche. You can either create products, or choose products, then create sale page and start driving traffic.

    I hope it helps.
