Life is simply the process, or journey, of knowing yourself. The ultimate reason for life is self-discovery. Yet, many people spend their entire lives getting farther and farther away from their own true, inner nature. Most people are constantly distorting their own idea of themselves, only because they do not know what they truly are. They are not even aware that this identity they hold of themselves is false, since they do not know who they truly are. How can you expect someone to discover their true inner nature when they are constantly being distracted by society as well as constantly interacting with others who themselves also do not know their own true nature?

In my philosophy I would change your first line to read:
    Life is simply the adventure.

I have been tending to my elderly parents of late and it seems they are looking for their destination.....it is a very sad thing..........
Because there is no destination in life here on earth. We were given an adventure and not a destination I believe. Yet it seems many are looking for the destination and overlooking this great adventure called life.

I'm trying to get the family involved to send my parents to Australia this coming summer. It is a place that they have always wanted to visit. It would be great to see them getting back into the adventure again

While that is kind of sad, the sadder thing is that it goes on every day in thousands to millions of peoples' lives.

It should be our duty in life to strive for our potential.

Knowing ones self is only part of the puzzle. Being honest with yourself is equally important. Think about it, to truly know yourself you have to be truthful with yourself. If your desire is to dunk a ball like Kobe Bryant & you are terrible at basket ball. Maybe dunking with out help ain't gonna happen.

You said it Perfect, Answering the Question 'Who Am I' is the most important question that we can answer in this lifetime as well finding !our purpose in LIFE!. Not like the other guy said 'There is no destination in Life here' We are the Destination.

Self Realization and Awareness of Self is what all the Wisdom teacher pointed to and its all about self transformation and inner growth. Not Beliefs and Theory but an actual Recognition that You are Life and we are here to Grow, Evolve, and Develop the attributes that will evolve our consciousness.

Society and the outer World WILL Only Change if WE Change Our inner World. Cause WE ARE a Reflection is our inner state of Being so if we want a Change outside we have to Change inside.

I believe life is like "The Matrix". The point is to experience as much as you possibly can. There might be a few lessons here and there but I'm a firm believer that "THIS" is not the real world, it is an illusion. It is important to know one's true self and hopefully we ALL will someday. But until that time I'm just going to enjoy this ever infinite dream I'm having in this universe and live this experience to it's fullest.

I say a big part of knowing yourself is knowing what your purpose is on this Earth.

Since im a bible-believing christian, i believe the only way you can truly find your purpose is in Christ.

Also, your purpose is usually linked to your likes, passions, things that you find easy to do, enjoy doing, and makes you feel like you on cloud nine.

Even things that frustrate and annoy you, because you might find your purpose is linked to finding the solution to that problem so that you can help others who are going through the same issue.

    Hope this helped :-)

I pray to the Lord in helping me find my true purpose. But instead of sitting inside my room, I go to a quiet place, like a beach, and talk to Him thru prayers. Before, I used to think that the only purpose in my life was to become a bum, but with Him guiding me, I feel I can do anything. Thanks Lord!

Identity is formed through socialization and experiences. The more experiences and people one encounters, the better the identity forms. After all, identity is a relative term. Some people may claim that they know who they are, when they don't while other may claim that they don't but they do.
