Giving more than what your customer paid for.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

It's always been a policy of mine to try to exceed my customer's satisfaction, and its always been a problem every time I've had a partner..they always wanted to get more than they were giving.

How do you feel about exceeding customer expectations? Foolish or wise?

I'm working on my first WSO and some of my none IM friends say I am charging too little for the amount of work it takes. I'm on the fence on if I should charge more, or at least get the IM ball rolling with a very affordable introductory rate. I figure that if I get swamped with work, I'll know that there is a market for my services and after WSO, if I am still swamped with work, then I may need to go up on my prices.

It is the nature of the customers. if you sell something you should be prepared to deal with it. What you have to do is to give what they ask and they will become your loyal customers. Once you let your customers complain you will lose them forever

You are right. I think it's my fear of taking that plunge into something new that is bothering me more than anything else. I just have to do it and learn from the experience. The closer I get to my launch date the more doubts and worries start to creep up. I just need to man up and make it happen. I know I have a good plan, and I know I'm offering value to my customers and I know I can deliver what I promise. I just have to shake the doubts and make it happen.

  You can place a limit on how many
  people can take advantage of your
  services.
  
  Once you move one person out of
  the funnel then you can move in one
  more. Take it in phases.
  
  I think that would help with your feeling
  of under delivering just because you got
  swapped. And as Armando stated, you
  want keep people happy and alleviate
  complaints.

Hello:

Typically, the purpose of a low-priced introductory offer is to generate some initial interest and publicity, and to get the cash flow started. After the introductory price (or period) is over, then the selling price goes "back up" to whatever the regular price might normally be.

I agree with CF on this: place a limit on how many you will sell at the introductory price. Or set a time limit for that price ... and stick to it.

I recommend making that clear in your sales literature: "For a limited time, the introductory price is $xx, then it returns to the regular price of $xx." Let your customers know they are getting a deal and how good the deal is.

On the topic of giving the customer more than they paid for, I am all for that concept!

However, rather than saying something like, "I am giving you this service for $xx, but I COULD be charging you $xxxx," what I do with my writing services is set my price at appropriate market value and outline what the customer will get (which they will see is very fair for them). THEN I over-deliver on my promise and give them more than they expected.

  One more thought on giving more than you have to. We need to be careful to do it with the proper attitude.
  
  Do not give more expecting to get more in return - it doesn't always work that way.
  
  Give because either you simply enjoy giving more than expected, or give more because you want to build a positive reputation. Do it without expectation ... and you will be pleasantly surprised - and rewarded - along the way!

Yes, always "over deliver" The internet is so impersonal that people don't expect more, they are concerned about being ripped off. When you give more than expected, you create a human bond that helps us all. Pay-it-forward.

  It is far better to give more to your customer - who has already bought something from you. It is far better to give more to an affiliate who has already promoted your product for you.
  
  It is not to say that should not accure new customers and affiliates to take your business to the next level. But your number one priority should be take good care of your existing customer and affilaite base.
  
  You should always think about ways to reward your customers and affilíates every now and then even if they bought it just once from you or promoted your product just once for you.
