The best way to keep an 'attractor' or vision journal?

Hi

Are there any warriors who keep an attraction journal or vision journal who could share some tips please?

I have just bought myself a nice leather bound one with tie straps but am not sure how to set it out.

Do you just stick pictures in or do you write about them?

Also, when you write out your list of what you want 3 times per day, does this go in the vision journal or another book?

I'd really like to get this right and hope that some experienced 'The Secret' or attraction experts can help.

Thank you very much

Gary

    Hi Gary, great question.

The purpose of the tool is to inspire you to be reminded of what matters most to you. What your desired outcome looks, sounds, feels, tastes like. What that means in terms of what you get to do in your ideal life. Who you are and how you spend your time in your ultimate vision. To help you reconnect, enjoy the feelings and attract ideas, experiences, and behaviors related to what the Conversations with God books say, "The greatest version of the grandest vision you ever had about yourself."

If your tool does this for you, it's a great success.

Some people are very visual, so lots of pictures would help them. If you're visual, put pictures on posters, or collect inspiring pictures for a computer screen saver you can watch while meditating.

Some people are more inspired by sound. If that's you, maybe you'd do better with a voice recorder. Or you could use software that lets you record your affirmations and mix it with a playlist of inspiring background music.

If you are a tactile, hands-on person, a scrapbook format will mean your fingers get busy as you work with the symbols of your dreams. Add fabrics, plants, or materials that represent your goals. And pay special attention to the process of writing out your affirmations. Maybe you'd like a program that requires clicking on different icons in order to load up all the aspects of your intended outcomes.

For a "people person," a great sense of personal power might come from proclaiming their dreams to others who provide enthusiastic moral support. For an introvert, this approach might dilute the power they get from concentrating within their own minds on what they are determined to accomplish.

In other words, there is no one way to "get this right." Try an inexpensive little test of whatever approach seems like it might be delightful. If it really is a delightful way to focus your attention and improve your attitude, do more of it. If not, try something else.

The purpose is to help you feel focused with clarity on your goals and positive intentions towards your ability to reach them. The way to get it right is to do whatever keeps that focus in your own mind, which might be very different than the best way to remind and inspire me. Be playful and joyous with all of this! Have fun, be lighthearted, and don't worry about "getting right" anything other than your personal discovery of how you like to inspire yourself.

Thank you very much for providing such a comprehensive reply. I appreciate you taking the time to do that

I think that I am tactile so will use my journal to add the photographs and materials as you suggested.

I will also keep an additional book to write down my wish list on a daily basis.

I am sure that this is a 'how long is a piece of string type answer' but how short term can some of my goals be?

I am creating a plan on where I would like to be in 5 years time but I was wondering if it was too optimistic to have a results that I would like to see in 6 months time.

This is all quite new to me. I have watched The Secret and just purchased a program called The Covenant but they seem to create more questions rather than answer them.

I appreciate you saying that there is no right and wrong way to do this but I really do want to fit as many of the pieces together as I can.

Thanks again and I hope that you don't misinterpret my post as being negative or nit-picking.

      Regards

      Gary

You're welcome, the point of the forum is that we can help each other learn and grow.

I think that I am tactile so will use my journal to add the photographs and materials as you suggested.
There you go, as you play with the materials you'll feel a great connection to your ultimate dream. And the daily writing exercises will help make that connection even stronger.

Tony Robbins has some good material about anchoring an emotional state or concept to gestures. I don't remember right now which of his products includes that explanation.

I am sure that this is a 'how long is a piece of string type answer' but how short term can some of my goals be?
The best material I've encountered about goals is from thinktq.com. Here's an article with several great points about goals. ThinkTQ - The Power of The Goal 2008.. The points may seem simple and obvious, but applying them can be challenging and profound.

Start with this superb article, and when you feel confident that you are doing what he recommends, if you want to learn more about goals and focus, check out what Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy, and Jack Canfield have to say about these subjects.

I am creating a plan on where I would like to be in 5 years time but I was wondering if it was too optimistic to have a results that I would like to see in 6 months time.
Each specific goal should be as concise as possible, ideally one attribute or facet, one feeling or experience per goal. For example, not:

I enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, sage stuffing, cranberry sauce, a 60's era Chardonnay, beside a cozy fireplace with a tiled hearth.

        But:
        • I enjoy turkey at Thanskgiving dinner.
        • I enjoy stuffing at Thanksgiving dinner.
        • The stuffing I get to enjoy at Thanksgiving is seasoned with sage.
        • Cranberry sauce is available at my Thanksgiving dinner.
        • My Thanksgiving dinner includes a nice glass of wine.
        • 60's Chardonnay is my Thanksgiving dinner wine of choice.
        • I like to dine beside the fireplace on Thanksgiving.
        • My fireplace has a tiled hearth.
        • I feel warm and cozy when I have Thanksgiving dinner by my fireplace.
        • My tiled hearth is a nice place to set the sage stuffing so it's handy for Thanksgiving dinner.
These little tidbits give your subconscious mind very specific patterns to match. It might be that this year your subconscious finds a way to have a tile fireplace and cranberry sauce this year, so you get to have at least part of your dream come true, even if the sage stuffing isn't available to you until next year.

Absolutely you should have goals at each timescale. What works for me to is to write out my five year goals. Then I put a 1 to 5 beside each goal for how many years I think it will take. The 1 goals get moved to a 1 year list, with a 1 to 12 beside each one for how many months I think each will take. Again the 1's get moved to the monthly goals list with a 1 to 4 for how many weeks I think it will take.

If you write goals on index cards it's easy to move them ahead or back in a box with divider tabs.

I have watched The Secret and just purchased a program called The Covenant but they seem to create more questions rather than answer them.
I agree. If you want deeper answers about the Law of Attraction, and the spiritual concepts behind them, rather than just more tantalizing questions, you might enjoy material from Abraham-Hicks, Seth, Bashar, and the free ebooks from PsiTek - FREE Metaphysical Books & The Law of Attraction.

Some of this is said to be "channeled" which some people find controversial. My own opinion is that if the material makes sense, feels comfortable, is ethical to apply and provides good results, that's more important than the nature of the source.

Thanks again and I hope that you don't misinterpret my post as being negative or nit-picking.
Not at all, I interpreted it as enthusiastic about a subject I like too. Gotta appreciate that.

The single most important thing is that you choose to have daily habits that inspire you with your goals. Change those habits later if you want, but build that consistency first.

I would like to make a small contribution on how I do my attraction.

I listen to alot of Brian Tracy Audio books. In one of his audio books, GOALS, he explains that written goals are far more powerful than the goals that are just in our heads. So for me, I write the goals in a word document and refer to it often

Also, I have learnt alot from John Assaraf, and if you read his book; The answer, you will learn how our brains work and how we can reprogram it(easy to understand explanation on how you can reset your brain to focus on a certain goal). So for me, first I have to desire the goal I want to achieve and then I make a decision that that is the best thing for me.(This concept is best explained in to Think and Grow Rich)

Finally, from the movie the secret, I learnt about the importance of Gratitude for the things we have and what we are grateful for. I have this chain(It has like 30 beads) which i put in my pocket and I count on the beads for what i am grateful for, any time i get a chance to do so. Mostly this happens when I wake up and before i retire to bed, but its not a routine/ritual at all, but something i really enjoy doing.

I know I may not have answered your question, but that is what works best for me, And being grateful has really brought very good things and my goals to fruition faster than ever!

Finally, from the Power of Now-Ekhart Tolle, when things are not going my way, I give in-I surrender and accept the NOW -I dont resist and I know its gonna work out for me sooner rather than later, It usually does

            Thanks fellow warriors

Thanks affjourney for your very helpful comments.

You of the points are very inspiring and I will be taking action with them.

I am glad that you emphasised the point about gratitude. It can be so easy to forget that part and take things for granted.

I am going to be using a lot of your tips.

              Thanks again

I am not sure if your question is for me or not.

If it is, I just bought a blank leather journal available from most stationery or department stores.

I am going to put pictures and information that motivate me and help me to visualise what I want to achieve from life.

Any notepad or blank book will do. I choose a nice one because I wanted the book to be special to me and I wanted to treat it with reverence.

          Hope that helps

Wow! I found new thoughts for me although I've already read a lot about attraction law. Pictures work better for me than other tools. I've made a collage which consists of pictures that show my goals and dreams. The one of them came true in 7 days.
I'd like to make my contribution to this thread. Napoleon Hill "Think and Grow Rich" - this book is very motivational and helpful. I listen to it when I'm in a bad mood.

I found Think and Grow Rich motivational and helpful too. I read it from time to time. Def. classic.

I have found writing down my goals and visualisation has had good results for me so far.

Gary I have a few different ways I keep track of things. I have a Vision board up over my desk, which has pictures to symbolize my desires. It also has quotes and verses on it that inspire me. There are pictures of my family surrounding it.

I also have a small stack on index cards bound together with ring clips. Each card has an affirmation related to my goals. Some of them have pictures pasted on the back of them, related to the affirmation.

I have a notebook in OneNote that is divided into tabs, one tab for each of my major goals, where I've written out basically a vivid visualization, set deadlines, and made plans toward to goal.

Finally I have a hard copy journal that I tend to carry with me to jot down ideas and "light bulbs" that come to me.

    That's just what I do!
