Anyone else have this problem...?

...of sleeping in past your planned wake up time???

I'm getting pretty good, but sometimes I still add that extra 20 mins of sleep. Starting my day at the exact time I plan to start makes me feel much better and have a more productive day, and sleeping in a little bit throws me off.

Any tips on how to ensure you wake up early as planned???

Thanks,

Bill.

lol. I have the same problem!! It's terrible. I don't know if it's something I'm going to strive to change. I think the biggest difference is that it throws you off though....uhmm.....I'm going to have to agree with Leanne here.
If it's that important, you should get to bed earlier or just wake up when your alarm goes off. It isn't that complicated, just tell yourself " What is 20 minutes more sleep actually going to do for me? Then you won't want to sleep in because you'll think of how much you'll throw off your day!
    That's my shot

This is not always the easiest of issues to fix. One thing I have found helpful is if you can fall asleep excited about waking up and working on whatever project you are currently focused on.

I found that not using the snooze button gave me a much better start to the day. As tempting as it is to hit it, I found I was less awake when I finally did get up (and of course rushed as a result)

In the warmer months, I usually do my morning rounds on the veranda. That keeps me from drifting off most of the time.

Otherwise, I have an ipod alarm clock; nothing like megadeath to get you out of bed.

Oh, and I keep the alarm on a shelf I cant reach without a stool; and place the remote in the bathroom at night. So I have to go into the other room to get it :p

Tell yourself that you will get up at say, 5 am tomorrow. Then go to bed about an hour or two earlier so that getting up the next morning will not be such a hassle.

I do this often and find that it works well.

In fact, many times, I get up an hour or two earlier! When this happens, I stay up rather than going back to bed and oversleeping.

Webrwriter, I completely forgot about that!
Your sleeping patterns are key. If you wake up an hour or two early you should stay up; you'll feel more refreshed and ready to go in the morning. Sometimes I wake up later than intended but I never wake up at a set time If I NEED to be up by certain time, I'll go to bed at a certain time and set my alarm "just in case". Always give yourself some breathing room with your sleep. It's important.
    Thanks, Webwriter

Yeah same problem here, even with my alarm clock I tend to turn it off while still half asleep and then wake up half an hour later than I wanted to

I developed extremely poor sleeping habits, which led to a host of other problems. Right now I am working on these by trying to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. But it's hard.

Another issue is the quality of my sleep. I wake up and toss and turn a lot. I am trying one of those mattress pads with padding and memory foam to try and improve my sleep quality.

I'm hoping that quality + quantity = waking up energized.

It also depends on how much importance and value you place on the activity you have to do/work on, as to the reason(s) why you have to get up to do it in the first place.

For example: if it's to attend an important business meeting that potentially, you could land a large contract from, then you'd ensure you get up on time and even earlier.

    So, the important questions are:

    * What is it that you're doing/working on?
    * How important is it to you to be there/to complete it?
    * What will you gain from it/being there?

Ooo I'm the queen of snoozing. I usually set my alarm an hour before I should really wake up. So I can snooze and then wake up when I should
