Hi Vijay,

Thank you for the encouragement. I had some really strong months in the last four or so months and grew my business every time about 5-10%.

Then come the beginning of the year I thought, what the heck, I can do BETTER than that and so I did. I guess it was a mental thing because I now know with absolute certainty that if you attach your mind to a specific goal the results will follow.

In practice this resulted in aiming for loftier goals and working hard to stay on track. It worked.

  Thank you. The membership I joined is called StrategicOutsourcers (just do a Google search for it and you'll find it).
  
  It has helped me quadruple my income within 4 months of implementing the teachings and before taking action on that I did earn a full-time income by all means. What the program has taught me is to leverage the work of a team to supercharge the income which means you learn to work on your business and not in it like most entrepreneurs tend to do.

Hi Nathan,

Yes I am certain it will. I believe success starts in your head. Unless you are 100% confident you can do this you won't. I do get my down days like everyone else. Funny enough, whenever I get a negative streak (which luckily doesn't happen too often) things take a turn for the worse - orders stall, clients take forever to decide, etc.

Usually I sulk for a couple of days until I pull myself together again and when I do business experiences yet another growth.

I just refused to be negative this month and look what happened.

Hello JayJay,

You asked me a very important question and one that is hard to answer. Believe me, when I'm stuck in my own $hit hole, the last thing I want to do is smile or get out of it - on those days I just want to stick my head in the sand (or bed) and never wake up.

Unfortunately it wouldn't work and I know my alternatives - having to go back to a job I hated, working for a boss who didn't care about his employees. When I made this business work for me after having bumbled about for a few years in MLM I KNEW that this was my last resort - now that I've achieved more than I ever dared to dream about when I started this business I have no desire to ever go back to where I was.

Therefore, I just keep going. Admittedly it does get easier as your business grows because you KNOW from experience that you can pull this off. The self-doubts become smaller and your conviction about your abilities become stronger every single day.

I'm not sure if this helps. We are all different and driven by our own experiences and desires. If your desire becomes urgent enough you too will find yourself taking action - even if you might not feel like it at the time.

I started my professional career as a hypnotherapist working with phobias and smoke cessation and a variety of other challenges that have their origin in the mind. Your words, "I believe success starts in your head" is a direct connection to the foundation and cure of the collective challenges we humans face.

What you have demonstrated is that you've set your goal and taken the step of controlling/limiting the amount of focus given to negative thoughts. That simple and complex step is the closest we can come to experiencing lasting, unstoppable and long term success in our pursuits.

I really want to make a go of it so I can leave here but know I can live in a stable way, I guess I just need to think about what the alternative is if I don't work hard at it, that should get me through.

This is a great, positive thread. I love what you say about just trying to smile and carry on when you get into those 'down' moments. This is something I'm really coming to learn. Being self employed is really such a huge lesson in accountability, not just for money but for the way you work and the way you need to learn to encourage yourself. You certainly hit the nail on the head with the accountability comment. No one is going to do the work for you when you run your own business. The thing is, they don't teach us in school who to think like an entrepreneur and like a manager (as Michael E. Gerber teaches us in the E-Myth books). Instead we think like technicians because that's what we are taught to be from kindergarden age onwards.

It really is no wonder so many people fail in their ventures. Sigh... I could go on and on but am afraid I would just ramble on indefinitely...

It's good to see that you are starting to see things from a different perspective. If you haven't already read it, I strongly suggest you read the book mentioned above. A total mind opener to say the least and must-read for any self-employed person.

My continuous success hasn't come by accident. In fact, I have worked diligently to improve my income month by month. For the past 5 months I have seen amazing growth in my business, mainly thanks to a membership course of a fellow forum member and of course my dedication to my business.

At the beginning of January I set myself a goal of reaching a new income level this month and I'm happy to say that I've actually gone over by $1,865 and counting. All in all I estimate that the December-January growth reflects more than 26%. Once the month comes to a close I will know in more detail.

The reason I'm posting here is to show you that you CAN achieve your goals if you work to your plan and stick with it. Remember, a journey is made of thousands of single steps.

Focus on one step at the time and you will see great results.

I also believe that when you put things out into the Ether they come back to you tenfold. Your success starts in your head - the rest is history.

Great work - there are lots of ways to achieve your goals! Reminds me of the story about the merchants during the American gold rush. Sure some miners struck it rich, but ALL the merchants selling the shovels did well.

Congratulations Monika! It sounds so cliche, and I know people have their eyes glaze over when they see it, but, it really does take someone self-motivated to keep going and to increase their efforts to reap the rewards over time. It is absolutely the hardest at the beginning putting in all the work before you see anything, but if you continue to work you will learn and eventually it will all pay off in the end.
