    I think failure is under-rated

I also think failure is essntial for success, even if you consider yourself "successful" first time I think you have failed and if you tweaked, and re did things you would become more successful

Success wouldn't be worth it if it was easy and there was no failure It makes you appreciate the success much more too

Many thanks for posting that video. Incredible content and I suspect not what Harvard graduates were expecting to hear from JK Rowling.

I've always considered failure an important part of success. Don't ever shy away from it.

I particularly loved what she hd to say about empathy.

Agreed. When you've experienced failure and you take the time to learn about what got you to that point, you make sure you don't make those mistakes again. And you push on creating new successes and learning from new failures. Its what lets us know that we are alive. If everything went right all the time, we'd go crazy. But whenever we experience a bump in the road, we learn something new about ourselves.

I've always thought failure is just another step toward success. Never take it personally and always use it as a learning opportunity to move forward. All the biggest successes in the world have failed miserably many times.

Failure is not really failure, but simply finding ways that don't work and in doing so pushes you to find a way that will work!

Isn't it something how many people are socially conditioned to believe that failure is bad? Its not even failure I worry about, it's learning from it.

You guys have nailed it on the head. Failure can be your second greatest learning tool if you take the time analyze the reasons why you failed. So next time you step up to the plate you can hit a home run.

thanks for sharing...failure to me was learning what didn't work and not doing it that way again...it always seemed that the things I didn't do right the first time and had to repeat a few times was the things I remembered how to do correctly the most once I learned the correct way...the things I was able to get right the first time always seem to slip my mind and I had to reboot my brain on how to do the task if there had been a long span between now and the last time I did that task...

Hah! I love these. I know this one is less motivational, but it is very comical, and everyone knows that laughter is the best medicine
Here is a link to Seth MacFarlane's Harvard commencement speech of 2006 I believe.
