15 Principles for the narrow road to success

  • 1.Never depend on another - be self reliant, punctual and diligent.
  • 2.Think through every problem - conquer difficulties as a daily job.
  • 3.That thing that makes opportunities - is inside you. Find it and make it work.
  • 4.It is easy to become a failure - all you have to do is idly dream.
  • 5.No circumstance, no person or combination of, can conquer you as long as you do not destroy your own prospects yourself.
  • 6.Set your standard high - then go up there. Don't think you can get something for nothing - you cannot play with duty.
  • 7.There is never a over-development in ability.
  • 8.Nothing can hide trained ability. People may use you for a time, but sooner or later you will brake the bonds.
  • 9.Think big in your thought life.
  • 10.We draw interest only on what we have deposited.
  • 11.Learn the value of speech. Careless speaking is a vicious habit.
  • 12.Worry is the unhealthy child of fear.
  • 13.Nothing is impossible - where there is a will there is a way.
  • 14.One is successful when one is no longer afraid of un-success.
  • 15.It takes 20 years to make an overnight success.

Nice list, good points to ponder. I'd like to add a little something to number 11.

    11. Learn the value of speech. Careless speaking is a vicious habit. Careless writing can be even worse, the evidence can last for decades and scorch you anew each time it surfaces.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

      Dennis,
thank you for adding this. You are so correct.
Did not even think of that. I had written out [collected] these 15 principles some 40 years ago and ever since they have been always the first page in my appointment book. That started long before the internet existed - but it holds true no matter where and how one does business, or live for that matter.

And "writing" should have been in there all along too. Thank you for the value of your addition, I already annexed it in my book

Good one and hardly thought of by many. It brings me to a point which I have been pondering for a while now. There are people who are greatly gifted at IM and have brilliant ideas. They put everything together and on a site and open it to the world. Then they outsource people who cannot write straight to write articles for their sites - all bad grammar, mixed up meanings, wrong punctuation, you name it. It would be great to pay $1 for an article, but thats exactly what you'll get. Its totally off putting for prospects. Some people even have auto responders that just dont read right. If you want value on the internet, to create an impression and a good one at that, writing is the only avenue you've got. Invest in it and write good copy and I'm sure you'll get amazing results.
