I Hate My Life! I Love My Life! What Life?

I had to post this I just hope it does not get me in trouble with the anyone...Well here goes

What motivated this? Simple! Over the past few days I have read and monitored two posts with the topics..

1. I Hate My Life

2. I Love My Life

After watching them for a number of days I had to wonder if the experts that said we humans have a negative conditioning were right. I came to this conclusion because if you check these two posts you will see that the one that say "I Hate My Life" have over 3,000 views and more than 100 replyies.

The other one that says "I Love My Llife" has 624 views and 42 replies.

The one that says I Hate My Life did not say much if anything at all but it seem to somehow generate a lot of attention and interest. Granted many of the responses were words of incouragement to the OP.

The one that says I Love My Life is a very incouragingly and uplifting written piece about the positive things to be grateful for about life. Which in itself seem to inspire many to respond positively as well.

My question is do you think that we humans are naturally wired to be drawn to the negative aspects of life?

I would be grateful for any thoughts and contributions on this.

Thank You

    Hi,
I agree with you. I heard once that humans find it easier to talk about what's wrong in their life rather than the good things that are happening to them. Maybe they're scared people will think they're just bragging and so dislike them for it whereas if you talk about your misfortune people are going to be friendlier and show you some sympathy? Sad though because if you think and believe in the law of attraction... The more negative you are, the more negative things you'll bring into your life! Let's be positive people!! I personally love my life dispite all the hurdles... That's what life is all about... A loooong learning process.... without hurdles you wouldn't learn anything would you?

Yeah, the negative ones, I don't tend to read etc there is enough negativity in the world. The positive ones, I will scan, but not comment.

My humble opinion is that life is a journey, not a destination.

  • because we humans naturally are compassionate, we feel sorry for those who are heavily loaded with problems, frustrations and hopelessness... If we read threads of some kind of suicidal inclination our adrenaline will surge to the highest level and would readily offer words of comfort

One thing that may apply to this idea is psychologists term of loss aversion. It has been shown that we are twice as receptive to feelings of loss as compared to feelings of gain. For example, if we lost $200 we would feel twice as bad as if we would feel good if we had won $200. I'm sorry if that doesn't make sense, it's a hard concept to write eloquently. It seems people are much more interested in loss, fear, pain, etc compared to happiness, joy, comfort and gain. That's why most media coverage is on painful and fearful things, rather than uplifting things. Because it gets more ratings.

    • Prime777, I know this world is full of the negative. But when it came to those posts, I did not see it like that.

I think the reason the "I hate my life" got so much activity is because:

      1. Here on the Warrior Forum, we are like brothers and sisters. If another warrior hates their life, we want know why so we can help them. And since this is an online marketing forum - their first thought is this person hates his/her life MAYBE because they are not succeeding in internet marketing.

      2. I guess we are nosey also

    Ok here are two guesses:
    1) I can solve this riddle in three words -- Misery Loves Company ...
... most people are not happy deep down and seek out others who feel the same.
    or
    2) Its like watching a car wreck -- They can't look away.

Humans are driven by PAIN or PLEASURE. Unfortunately most of us will do a lot more to avoid any pain (and that include hard work) than getting the pleasure (harvesting the rewards from the pain).

I believe that is why more people focus on what they do not want.

Secondly, I believe that you will attract exactly what you are focusing on. Our little brain (large one for some) has a hard time with the term "NOT" as it simply does not exist in our heads.

e.g. close your eyes and do NOT think of an pink elephant

Now you have a picture of the elephant in the brain and are trying to get rite of it.

So when people are focusing on "NOT being poor", "NOT being sick", etc. they really focus on "Being poor" and "Being sick"...

And it comes very easy and effortless.

Part of the number of view/replies depends on how often the OP went back to bump or reply to the thread to keep it going.

But - if you reply to a positive thread, you are saying "good for you"...yet may be frustrated the same good thing hasn't been true for you.

Replying to a negative, poor me thread provides more satisfaction. You can sympathize, empathize and advise, stating your opinions - and walk away feeling you have helped but also glad it's someone else's problem.

In the end - another person's negative becomes a positive experience for you.

      Is that convoluted enough?
