How do you handle your sleep?

We all know how important (good) sleep is to be productive and happy. Nevertheless, with all of our work, family and friends commitments, most of us don't have enough time to sleep as much as we may wish to.

How many hours do you sleep on weekdays, weekends, generally? Do you drink coffee, tea, etc to keep you up when you don't have any other option but to stay awake (approaching deadline, etc)?

Is it enough for you? If not, how many hours would you wish to sleep instead?

I'll sleep anywhere from 6 to 8 hours on weedays and weekends. If I'm extremely anxious or worried about something, I get up anywhere from 3 to 5 o'clock in the morning and do what I have to do, such as write a rough draft.

If I really knock myself out from shoveling snow for 3 to 5 hours, I'll go to bed earlier. Too tired to focus on anything. Or if it's still early in the day, I'll take a 2 hour nap. Nothing wrong with a little nap every now and then.

As I'm a student and doing business at the same time, sleep is a very rare thing. As an experiment, I tried to invent the 9-day-week by replacing two hours of sleep with work every day!
Unfortunately I found it to be pretty rough after a few weeks...

Anyway, I'm back to normal again. Sleep really IS important..

I have a problem sleeping 6 hours a day. I have even stopped drinking coffee, but still seem to sleep light during the night. I feel ok except, I get a little sleepy around 6:00p every day. I do take a short nap from time to time, and I feel like it is my best sleep. I am always trying new ways to get more rest.

Whether you sleep 5 hours or 10 hours a day, you cannot make your day productive if the quality of the sleep is not there. I'm like anybody in this forum, I have a lot of work to do and I do tend to stay up late (after my kid goes to bed). But I lately try to draw the line by 11pm and when I do that, I try to clear my mind by telling myself "My work for today is complete. No need to worry about it until tomorrow." then go to bed.
I try to sleep for good 7 to 8 hours so that i can get up fresh and get the work done efficiently next day.

I wear gloves and a mask. Sleep is contagious and I don't want to contract it.

I suggest you handle Sleep with care, because it's an incurable disease once you contract it, you will have it for life!

I am not handling sleep very well. I want to sleep all the time. I think I am sleeping a lot but I still show signs of lack of sleep.

Sleep! I don't think that even exists in my life.

Although i know when im getting tired because i normally just then spend my time on forums doing nothing productive at all so may as well be sleeping at that time instead. Such as now for example!

You should try to get at least 7 hours sleep and try to make it quality sleep. For some, maybe making the room completely dark or sleeping single or turn a fan on in the room, leave the tv on, Whatever works for you. You need at least those 7 hours so you can be productive the next day in a healthy manner. Vitamins and, especiality steady exercise routines, will help you regulate your sleep and to sleep much deeper.

I generally get about 6 hours sleep a night. Which, with the help of my good friend caffeine, is plenty! : )

On average I think I get about 5 to 6 hours sleep during the week as I also have a day job and start at 5am! Can't wait for my IM business to overtake what I make in my day job so I don't have to get up at 4 forever more!... At the weekend I'd say I get about 8/9 hours sleep.
If it was totally up to me, ideally I'd like to have a minimum of 7 hours sleep every night.

It depends on an individual I think. Some people require more sleep than others for numerous reasons that not even doctors completely understand.

While some may think that sleeping less and using more hours for work gets your work done faster and more of it, while that might be true for some, very often when you get less hours of sleep you do not think as clearly and you do not operate at full capacity. It might be that sacrificing a couple hours does more harm to your body and possibly your productivity more than you would think.

I always aim for 8 hours sleep. I find having a routine helps me stick to that (combined with a solid to do list and being strict with myself).

    I don't drink coffee

When it comes to all nighters I drink a bit of coke. Just get into the zone, push through and do it. (I'll be having a few late nights this week preparing for The Assassination launch with Greg Jacobs.

Minimum sleep for me is 6 hrs.

It's been interesting reading people's posts.

    Cheers
