Yep... don't worry, I'm not suicidal though, after completely ignoring all of the hype surrounding The Biggest Loser, I decided to give their diet shakes and meal replacements a go.

You see too much time in front of the computer smashing sugary coffees (especially Starbucks Frappacinos) has left me with a completely normal looking body... except with a fat gut.

I always swore that I'd never get fat and thought that fat people were lazy and lacked self-control. Damn!

So anyways, I tried some of their meal-replacements with some Insanity Cardio and lost 2kgs in the first week, 1kg the next week and now this is my 3rd week.

Has anyone else tried The Biggest Loser? Their website (in Australia at least) is pretty damn awesome as well.

Anyways, if you're a warrior like me who has spent too much time stressing out and staring at the computer, instead of focusing on your health... it's definitely time to change.

I have no vested interest in The Biggest Loser, I thought that the whole thing was a bit of con, but it's working so far and my energy levels are good too. So if you're looking for something that works, give it a shot.

Any other good weight loss tips from you guys (that is from people who sit at their desks most of the day)?

All the best,
np90

One thing I found helpful was as soon as I start getting hungry when Im on a strict diet is to drink a lot of water and go for a speedwalk or really really quick jog. For whatever reasons this will give me another good hour or two before I get hungry again.

    Worth a try I guess.

Thanks Kenster, I have been trying to smash down plenty of water and it definitely helps.

They say that often when we feel hungry it's actually dehydration/thirst being misinterpreted by our bodies and so the first thing you should do is try and have some water.

I'll have to keep it up. Thanks

Thanks Raygun, you're right the TeamBeachBody stuff is very good. P90x looks awesome, I have actually been trying the Insanity DVD's with Shaun T. The Insanity DVD's are tough going but definitely working!

Cool blog as well. Good stuff. What's Shakeology like? Don't think we've got in Australia.

      all the best

Wow! You are doing Insanity huh? That is one nasty program, you will get results with that, guaranteed.

As far as your question about Shakeology, it is really great because it tastes so good and yet it really fills you up with a limited amount of calories. I am not sure if you can get it in Ausie though.

          Thanks Raygun.

yeah Insanity is NASTY! I can't make it through a full session yet and I sweat my ass off, BUT the week that I trained the most insanity, was the week I lost 2kgs and thankfully it was fat and not muscle.

Kudos to you for staying shape man and all the best, not that I get much traffic, but I'll link to your blog from the90project.

Thanks for your input, the Shakeology stuff does look pretty tasty, or maybe I'm just a sucker for the marketing!

  • Hey congratulations!

I hope it works out for you, and the best thing is that you took some action as opposed to just wishing it away. And props for losing big numbers in your first couple weeks!

I just keep a ton of fruit around the house and rock banana smoothies with blueberries, strawberries... etc... all frozen. You can also add powders and supplements to this as well. I did a fruit feast for a couple of weeks! It was intense but I had more energy than I've had since i waz a kid!!!

I wanna try the p90 thing... Oh yea and I've heard **** berries work!!! (Just Kidding, little cpa joke!)

    Best wishes!

Thanks Bioshift, good idea on freezing the fruit, kinda like having my very own "Boost Juice", which i think is the equivalent of "Jumba Juice" in the states.

Good plan... going to go and freeze some 'nanas right now

This is a great diet if you can hang with it... after approx 5 years you will have cleared out your arteries as well! Stroke potential almost completely disappears.

        Goto: heartattackproof.com
(sorry, under 15 posts.. no linky!)

Nope, not affiliated... had 2 heart attacks in 2008, got this book as a present from a buddy while in the hospital.

I "right sized from 185 down to 165 in less than 6 months, and I ate as much as I wanted on this list of approved foods.

        So, here is the catch
If it has eyes, a face, OR a mother it's off your list. If it comes from something with eyes, a face, or a mother it's off your list. No avocados, no oils. No nuts, unless you do not have coronary artery disease - then you can have walnuts. Of course you have figured out that there is no eggs, ice cream, milk, butter, etc...

That's the bummer... here is the pluses!

More energy, better flexibility, eat as much as you want on the diet list, very good sustainable strength. I ride a bicycle, recumbent, and I am now consistently under a four minute mile.

It's worth a look. Perhaps not for the full 5 years that I am going for, but for a "season" that you predetermine. Who knows, you may find it wildly successful for a period of time! I was a staunch carnivore prior to the medical events, but now I am pretty happy with the current diet. Of course Scotch Whiskey is on the diet, so what's not to like!!! (LOL) So is Beer, Wine and everything as a mixer that you can imagine, as long as it's on the dietary list. Margaritas make it, White Russians or Mudslides are not.

Let me know if you decide to take it on!

        HTH...

PS - you know someone with Coronary Artery Disease, please turn them onto this book! This diet can greatly reduce or eliminate angina in 6 to 8 weeks *naturally*.

Pierre, that sounds super-healthy but I think I have about a 0.00% chance of sticking with that one. However I am sure it works and definitely has tremendous value when applied to the right situation, thanks for sharing.

And you're right, it might be worth doing for a season just to detox a bit.

          Thanks
