Hi i am really tired today, i can't even concentrate properly. I can't do any task related to IM. What do you do in days like this? Motivate yourself somehow or relax and don't work for that day? Thanks.

When you're tired, that's your body shouting out for a break.

Relax, take a day off, do some reading, listen to some music, go relax at the park or do some light walking outside and get some fresh air. Or ever watch a couple of quality movies. Whatever you define as relaxing, do that.

But if you get these days often, where you don't feel motivated and are tired often....I would look at your overall lifestyle, habits, thoughts and goals and see where it's going wrong.

    Take a break.

Sometimes I drink a can of red bull or other caffeine drinks to keep me going, but if you are exhausted just take a day off and relax. Your body DOES need a break now and then.

I agree, actually you should look into meditation to clear your mind. Just close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing for 10 min. You would be surprised how much this clears things up.

Long hours in front of a computer can make a person feel exhausted.

What I do is check my diet. If I've been hitting the junk food too much, or too many high glyc carbs, I sit down with some lean protein and green leafy veggies. Then I grab the vites and get those down. Days like these, I avoid too much caffeine, because if it isn't working, I need nutrition, not stimulants.

Then it's time for shopping or a stroll in the park. Light exercise that gets my attention focused away from my body is perfect. I try to do that for an hour or so. Then, I relax and take it easy.

Although sometimes after the walk, I get a second wind and feel like getting back to work.

Theres no point in working while you are tired because it will show in the standard of the work you've produced, and this will likely hurt your sales.

As everybody in thread has suggested, just take a break and relax. I would recommend a 1-3 day rest where you get your mind off IM or any other stressful thing.

Do something fun or recreational. Go visit a Friend. Watch your favourite TV programs. Play golf (if you into that kind of thing)

Guaranteed, when you return to your IM activities, not only will you be energised to work at it, but most likely you'll be at your peak performance of productivity and thinking, which will only benefit you, your customers and thus certainly your bank account.

    All the best.

It's a case of "do as I say, not as I do...", but when I've reached overload or exhaustion I head for a nap (in a chair, not in bed). It's only partly to remedy fatigue: in my case it's a remedy for tedium, or concentrated 'intellectual' work, which - trust me - takes its toll as well.

My son, who pursues a high-pressure career, recommends exercise. He says it burns off lactic acid and other awful things, rejuvinating the body. I guess I understand that. But I also respect the various Buddhist practices to take time out, particularly deep breathing and various meditative exercises.

In any event, do something. A perception of personal BurnOut will not advance your IM aspirations. Pick a regimen and follow it. Just insofar as it's - at least for a little while - away from that sefuctive computer.

The particular practice probably doesn't make much difference; it's the physicality that counts when you spend the rest of your time conjoined with your internet connection.

Find something that works and stick with it...

    - Phil

Relaxing for the day because you're tired doesn't make sense. That would be due to exhaustion from weeks of work, not just being a little tired.

Take a nap. Take a break. Get some exercise to get your blood flowing. Take some 5-hour energy (product I see over-advertised in the US but I tried it and it works for me). But just don't take the whole day off. That makes no sense to me.

Seriously, it's just a conversation you are having with yourself....just switch the conversation.

If that doesn't work for you, get up and stretch the body and get your circulation going. Another great technique I also use is taking 10 slow, deep breaths.

Go for a walk, call some friends, enjoy the day... what you are working on is important for sure, but at the end of the day it's not what defines you and your life...so take a load off

I usually get 1-2 hours of good sleep and then move on. Even 1 hour can help a lot.
There's no point in doing work when you really can't focus. You'll only mess things up and waist even more time trying to fix what you've messed up. And productivity levels are so low when we're tired... So, go get some sleep and come back to do some quality work!

If I feel that way around 9 or 10 pm, I'll just call it a day and go to bed. No sense in forcing anything. From the way I see it, that's a signal from the brain, letting you know that it is overworked and it is time to quit for now.

If I feel that way early in the afternoon, I'll just give in and take a short nap. After a nap, I'm ready to get back to work and actually get a lot done. You might ask, how do you know that you should take a nap. That's easy. If you're reading something and the words don't make sense or if you doze off in the middle of reading or writing something online, don't force yourself. Listen to your body and take a nap. You probably need it.

Go to a cafe with your ipod. While listening to your favorite most uplifting song write down your goals, what is working in your life and what you are grateful for.

Talk to a few strangers (cafe staff etc) or observe people working. Imagine that you are doing their job and how it would make you feel.

That should get you motivated and help you appreciate what you are doing. You just need to revamp your IM drive.

    All the best,

I used to be tired quite a bit as i'd be working until 2-3am. Not only did my quality of work suffer but I relised I really wasn't geting much done.

So now I set myself just a few tasks for the day. Once their done i'm free for the rest of the day.

Though there's still the odd time when i'm too tired to do even that. In which case I just spend the day relaxing. Meditating, watching tv, going for a walk etc.

As I don't see the point in pushing myself as it will just end up with me not being able to work for an extended period.

I go find my 1 year old daughter and play with her.

She knows what it takes to be successful. You run until you drop, then you sleep for an hour, then you run until you drop, sleep for 30 minutes, run until you drop.... or as Warriors say "rinse and repeat"...She can be up at 6AM off and running, and finally hits the bed for a nights sleep around 10PM.

As any 1 year old can teach, you can go all out for only a certain amount of time, then you need to take a break. She "works" more hours during the day than most of us adults could stand. Our problem is convincing ourselves those 30 minute and 1 hours naps are actually conducive to productivity gains, not lost work time.

      Work from bed.
      Seriously.

Sit up in your comfy bed with a notebook and pen and don't put yourself under any pressure.

      Doodle, daydream, relax....

Write down maps of your sites or current strategies...
Think about all the different ways people make money online...
Think about all the different products and services people sell online...

It's amazing how creativity comes when you're not under pressure.

Write down all your ideas, no matter how crazy they are.

This method has proven to be great for me. I have a notebook literally packed full of great ideas, more ideas than I would even have time to implement.

Get out of the house, get some fresh air to clear your brain. Walking is great, a bit of a jog is even better.

Fresh air and some exercise do wonders for me. I think the brain needs "downtime", to process information we throw at it. It then kicks in again with great force!

Turn off the computer. It's very tiring on the eyes, and can be a bit brain-numbing, it just draws you in like a magnet and hypnotises you. Just turn it off for a bit.

Go back to the good old pen and paper. I find that my best brainstorming and planning happens "off-screen".

Get some sleep if you haven't been sleeping enough.

It's generally better to take some time off if you can than trying to push on because when you are feeling really over it you won't be productive or effective, so you are wasting time AND getting more tired.

And realise it will pass, we've all been there I'm sure!

When you get tired, your creativity and
performance drops. So you end up putting
in more hours but accomplish less. It's pretty
tough to take a break when you have a lot on
your plate but the best thing for you to do is
completely switch off and let your body and
      mind rest.

You may need 24 to 48 hours depending on
how tired you are. I do not recommend taking
pills to catch up on your sleep - if you are having
low energy levels you might want to check your

If I get tired during the day I do a little thing called the Hawai'i.

Ha - is 'breath' so I take some big deep breaths and flood my body with oxygen.

Wai - (pronounced vai) is 'water' so I go and have a glass of water to rehydrate (distilled is best).

I - is 'energy' / movement and so I move my body by stretching or going for a short walk.

        Ha (breath) + Wai (water) + I (energy) = HAWAI'I

I do whatever I want to do. I play some cool online games for a couple hours, go riding my bike outside, go out and eat or whatever comes to mind. Doing whatever comes to mind is energizing and wakes my brain up.

But after that day of pleasure I spend at least 8 hours on my work and I blaze through my projects because I always try to keep in mind that my success comes from taking action and not from just thinking about taking action. Sometimes after a day out doing whatever I cannot sleep and I just work throughout the night! Actually I did that today and I'm just chilling on the forums before taking a nap :p

I would say, never force yourself to work when you do not want to. You will end up pumping out material that isn't your best stuff and thus hurt your business.

Those five hour energy drinks actually help me out a lot. You will be wide awake for that 5 hour span, I usually take one before I go on a long road trip.

Coffee doesn't actually make you more awake, it just quenches your need for coffee, which you do grow addicted to after a while. So while you think that coffee in the morning is helping you wake up, its really just helping your thirst for coffee. At least that's what the "scientists" are saying now.

When I'm tired I take a nap, then eat comfort food and watch funny videos on Youtube.
If I need an energy boost I do a short meditation where I imagine that I'm absorbing energy from the sun. It works all the time.

  • and if that's not practical I take a quick deep relaxation and then re-activate my body-mind system with pushups, breathwork and/ or a 10 minute run. Or a hot-cold-hot-cold shower

I find when I try to work and I'm tired or not "into it", its a complete waste of time. I now take a step back and do something I enjoy. When I return to work I find myself refreshed and eager to get back to it.
