The Law of Attraction - Are You a Believer?

I've got to be honest and say that until the last couple of weeks, I knew very little about the Law of Attraction. During that time though, I did a large amount of article rewrites for a personal development company, and a number of them covered the Law of Attraction, so as a result I really learned what it is and how it works.

Ironically, I used what I learned in order to complete that project. I had set myself an overly ambitious deadline(I had actually been granted an extension for the original unrealistic deadline I set) and for a couple of reasons was really struggling to meet it at one point. In fact, at one point I was even considering abandoning the whole project and explaining why to the company. In the end though, I approached it with nothing but positivity and determination. There was simply no way I wasn't going to do it.

I really pushed myself, ignored any negative self talk, met the deadline, and felt great afterwards. The fact that I pushed through all my doubts and fears in order to reach my goal left me feeling very proud of myself.

In the days following this, other areas that I have admittedly been neglecting have suddenly picked up. Not only that, but they have picked up without me doing anything. One site that would maybe bring a sale every 4 or 5 weeks, brought in 2 in 2 days, and 4 in 2 weeks. Traffic has risen quite dramatically too. A product that I released almost 3 months ago, and hasn't made a sale for a number of weeks, brought in a sale from nowhere.

Like I say, I have been neglecting these areas and haven't actively done anything in terms of traffic or income generation for a few weeks. All this has happened in the few days since I completed that project. Coincidence? I don't think so. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the Law of Attraction at work

The positivity and determination I put into that project has rewarded me in other areas too. If you have a positive mindset and a positive approach to everything you do, you just might find that positivity will come back to you(hey, that rhymes ). My advice to anyone reading this is to set goals, believe you can reach them and work towards them. Not only is it likely you will achieve your goals, the attitude you adopted will benefit you in other areas too - both personally and in IM

I believe LOA works through the subconscious. It's all we need to know for it to work.

we attract our subconscious thoughts and beliefs. That's the absolute truth and not a word of it is ever mentioned in 'The Secret' or by Abraham-Hicks. Only the scientists seems to know this and have done decades of research on it. THe best guy for methods to program the subconscious is Dr. Bruce Lipton. Ph.D He wrote 'the Biology of Belief' and it won the best science book award in 2006.

I have an amazing 30 minute lecture of his where the talks about the 4 best and easiest ways to change subconscious programming. Absolute magic

I know that the law of attraction works and that if you keep a sustained train of thought process or mind set, it will almost magically happen for you.

This is how the sub conscious is programmed-your mental paradigm changes through repetitive imagery, thoughts or words(affirmations) over a period of time and your actions produce positive results.

Geenius - you nailed. The most valuable & insightful statement I've read in a long time.

The more we visualize what we must be doing and the better we become at it the more our minds will automatically take action and those actions lead to better results in our life.

This has even been tested by scientists - people who spend time every day visualizing what they need to do become more effective at it.

Chunk down your goals into actionable steps and visualize yourself successfully accomplishing each of those steps.

I believe that it is only the start. In my opinion the secret is to start doing something towards your goal and then you will attract the good things into your life. Obviously it starts with the right attitude and you have to have the right type of plan. But as you go, you will see the more you get into what you want the more you will attract those things into your like, not the other way around.

Law of attraction works big time, and the most helpful and vital technique is the visually imagining the results you want in your life. Infact lots of people maintain dreambooks where they paste the picture of kind of house they aspire to live in, kind of person they would want to marry to, the physique they would love to have, all the material poccessions and the degree of success they want to achieve.

Creating and maintaining these dream books is very effective.and this book should be reviewed every night before you sleep and just after you wake up.

And yes, as indicated by the thread starter it is very important to have a 100% positive attitude and completely believing in your dreams.

I'm a believer yes. Because if you're passionate about something and keep reading things related to your passion such as the warriorforum you may be collecting pieces of the puzzle and you don't even know it. But when the time is right you will have this "A-Ha!" moment when all of the pieces come together and you make it big... Make sense?

I'm a huge fan of LoA ever since I saw the movie "The Secret" I admit sometimes I fail and don't apply the method but I do wholeheartedly believe in it. I just pulled out the book "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace D. Wattles which is what motivated the author of "The Secret".

I love this quote "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, It can achieve" by Napoleon Hill, it is very motivating, powerful and true, most importantly it goes both ways, if you always believe negative or bad things will happen they will.

You will be okay as long as you don't completely interpret the LOA in the wrong way and start making youtube videos featuring expensive cars, private jets etc, expecting that a miracle happens just by looking at them everyday.

note: Ever since I was a child I have been thinking of money raining from the sky and landing directly on top of me, trust me when I tell you that it hasn't happened yet

LOA works miracles. The deeper I get into LOA, the more it works for me.

One example of that was I took a trip to New York and went to The Empire State Building yesterday. It was very cloudy and raining in New York yesterday, but I didn't let that get in the way of my sightseeing. Before I arrived at The Empire State Building, I visualized how awesome New York will look while I was at the top of the building. When I got there, they told me before I buy a ticket they wanted to let me know that there is 0% visibility due to all the clouds and rain. I told the person, that's OK, it'll clear up by the time I get up there. The lady looked at me funny and kinda laughed. I went to the top of the building and couldn't see a thing. Within minutes, somehow the clouds disappeared and I had a beautiful view of New York.

These things happen to me all the time since I've been practicing LOA. It's also done a lot for my online business too.

Yes, I believe in the Law Of Attraction. I think it trains your mind to think in a certain way.

I think a lot of people miss a crucial point. You MUST take action.

To think about things is great, and it trains your mind to think about achieving your goals in a fullfilling way, but unless you take that step, nothing will happen.

I do believe there are forces out there that are out of our control, but I can't speak on that subject.

When you think about your goals, or what you want to achieve everyday, you will subconciously make steps to achieve them, sometimes not even realizing it.

That is great when that happens. But you need to do something.

If you want to write a book, and you think about it everyday, but never pick up the pen, you may find a problem.

On the other hand, if you want to write a book, you think about it everyday, and you write a page a day. Guess what. YOU HAVE A BOOK!

  • Thanks for sharing your story. It's encouraging to hear about the results you got.

The key is that you took action and that you saw results across all sorts of areas - even those you were not taking action in.

You're also right that setting clear goals is important.

The problem is that many people would like to think you only need to believe in the LOA and everything will be ok.

You demonstrated the perfect mix of goals, belief and action.

    Best regards

    Robert

I have recently watched the movie 'The Secret' and have started to apply the Law of Attraction into my life. It isn't always easy- I often find myself feeling negative if I am busy or worried, and have to try to bring my focus back.

But I have started to see some results; I have also made a 'vision book', in which I write down what I want to attract to me and paste in pictures relating to it. I'm determined to make the L of A a permant part of my life.

Thanks for sharing your story Liam. Infact stories like this one gives more strengh to the positive belief i already have about the law of attraction. There are many people who complain that they did not observed any change in them, even when have read so many books on the law of attraction or self improvement. They just lack one thing, that is Belief. They dont believe. When they know that they have started believing, things change for them.

I think the response to this thread proves the LOA What's even more interesting is that recently I've been thinking about writing an article on this very topic on my blog and I happen to come across this thread by chance (I think I'm in the twilight zone)....this is my first post at this forum btw.

Anyway, thanks for sharing! I truly believe what you put out in the world and what you focus on, is what will continue to come up for you in your life (neg and pos). Focus on prosperity and extraordinary results and you will get that...focus on doubt, fear and lack and you will get that too.

      Great job Liam!

I like to download LOA mp3's to my ipod and listen to them just before falling to sleep. They are meant to work with the sub -conscious. Also, I have a visualize and magnetize series that I have been doing off and on for years. I actually attracted the exact brand new car I had been visualizing in a short time. That was the most obvious example of it working in my life, and made me a true believer.

Some LOA teaches suggest to intuitively sense when to stop magnetizing a particular object or situation and just trust that the Universe is going to give it to you. That's where I need to gain more trust. Supposedly, if you keep asking the universe for it you are in essence telling the Universe you do not have it, and the Universe fulfills that reality. It's not as simple and magical as I would like it to be. It also doesn't happen in my time. It took many years to be in the relationship I'm in today that I begain magnetizing long long ago.

Belief is irrelevant. It is called LAW of attraction because it works whether you believe or not. It has worked in all of our lives, from the moment we were born. It IS possible not to believe in the law of gravity. Would not believing change anything about how it works?

It has nothing to do with positive thinking. Thinking positively is an effort to direct the KIND of results LOA will deliver to you, and that's really what most people are talking about when they discuss the subject; how to consciously utilize the power of a law of the subconscious.

LOA is ABOUT thought. Whatever thoughts you dwell upon, you will attract more of the same. Good or bad. Like it or not.

USING LOA is about learning to CONTROL your thoughts. If a thought makes you feel BAD, it is working against your prosperity, whether that prosperity is financial, spiritual, psychological, or anything else. If a thought makes you feel GOOD, is it working to promote your prosperity.

How your thoughts make you FEEL is your barometer of how well you are lining up vibrationally with your desires.

VIBRATION is the engine that creates. Everything in the universe is in constant vibration. Hold your thoughts in the same vibration with things you want, and they will come to you, one way or another. Hold your thoughts in the same vibration with things you DON'T want, and they will also come to you, one way or another.

You can choose to believe that the Universe brings good (or bad) fortune to you, or that it is your own subconscious mind that does it. Either way, the mechanism is the same; control the vibration rate of the conscious mind, in order to facilitate clear thought. That clear thought programs the subconscious mind, which then provides, or manifests, the desired result (via an idea, an opportunity, or sheer dumb luck - ever found money on the ground?), or, since most of us do not really have the ability to be completely clear on every aspect of what we want in life, something relatively close.

Prayer, meditation, chanting, exercise, creative visualization; all are techniques to achieve the same thing - clear mental focus. They all make you feel good. They all help you to achieve more in life - to be more prosperous. The technique you choose to use is completely up to you. None is any better than another. They are simply means to an end: they help us to control the vibration rate of our minds in order to cut through the mental chatter we all have during every waking moment of our lives.

And as a tag-on to Aronya, who is absolutely correct with everything that is said here, it doesn't matter what tool you use, but the one that WILL work the best for you is the one that is attuned to your own particular expression style -- sensory modality such as Visual, Kinesthetic, or Auditory. Myself -- I use all three PLUS EFT.

For most people, the hardest one to manifest is MONEY -- not only because it is a NO THING, it is PAPER, it represents an exchange -- but because of all the ENERGY surrounding it. Whatever beliefs we were programmed with as a child, these are the beliefs within us within our subconscious that will work against us. That's why it is important to get your subconscious ON BOARD. It is the most powerful part of you.

But as Aronya says, it doesn't matter whether you "believe" in the law of attraction or not -- it is totally irrelevant. It would be like a person who lives inside a room without any windows who never goes outside saying, "I don't believe in the sun." Believe what you want, the sun doesn't care, it'll go on shining -- and the law of attraction will go on "attracting."

Note to Aronya: If you want HOT move to Borrego. You're living in my county you know. I was born in San Diego and I've lived in practically every city there from Chula Vista to Oceanside, Borrego to LaJolla (and MB, PB, OB, Bird Rock). LOL! Graduated from El Capitan, in Lakeside while living in Alpine.

Yep, my home town stomping grounds. My husband too. He was the first graduating class from Santana in the late 60's -- went to Palomar College, near where you are. (Close enough anyway!)

I have a Clickbank product that teaches you exactly how to do this and that can make you 40% on a recurring 12 month income... Mesage me for details if you're interested.

            Powerful stuff indeed.

      Hi Kris,

What you said resonates with me 100%. I believe in the LoA because my success is all the proof I ever need.

It is also interesting to note that if you allow your mind to indulge into negative thoughts everything starts to go wrong. The LoA takes more than belief to work. Without taking action you can wish for all you want and never see the results you dream about.

The LoA elevates our subconscious self to open for greater opportunities; events and people that help us reach our targets and dreams.

      Kris
Absolutely - the biggest part of the word 'Attraction' is 'Action' - is that a coincidence??? - Not if you believe the Law of Attraction!
Everything in the universe ultimately arrives from 'energy' and energy is not an inert matter. So it stands to reason that to attract anything you are going to have to 'activate it' - ie take some kind of action

      great lines Kris

the bBible is a full reflection of the LOA and there are many many references to taking action

it is stated that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen

also stated faith without works is dead

and if you do not work you do not eat.

if one attempts anything without the spirit of action/work then it will not succeed. just as OP stated he buckled down with positive determination he would succeed and amazingly he did.

it should not be considered a scret that one attracts what he focuses on. we see it manifested efveryday in the lives of those "less forunate" who look around each corner for more dispair and defeat.
but yet we must question does it work for success?

      simple put

YES, it works because you work...

Totally agree with Aronya, LOA is a law so whatever people believe in it r not won't change nothing for them like law of the gravity.
I ave discover this LOA since one year and i start to use it properly since a few months only, in the past i had financial problems so i was visualizint myself to have already pay debts and today, i have a job since 3 months and i will be able to pay my debt this week-end and hop! Finish financial problems!
    Phew!
No i used to use LOA every night, i always thinking about what i want and i always visualize the life i want to live in the future.
    LOA works! <3
We all have the power to change our life but we must do actions not just stand here and think like a fool xD.
    Visualization + action = realisation! <3

It isn't a question of belief. It is a law like the law of gravity.

Let someone tell you they don't believe in gravity and you'd look at them like they're weird.

The law of attraction is the same. The difference is that the law of gravity has an immediate cause/effect relationship whereas the law of attraction has a delayed cause/effect relationship.

I believe in the Law of Attraction. It seems like a simple concept. Visualize and attract what you focus on into your life. My experience of it is that it takes commitment. The crucial element of the Law of Attraction, as Esther and Jerry Hicks describe in their Abraham writings is aligning your vibration. I find this very hard to put into words, but this is the key element that makes or breaks it. It is not about positive thinking, but about feeling the truth of what you want down to your core. Then it is about holding that vision, belief, and feeling (or vibration) as you take action to make it happen. I have always been a very hard worker, a good planner, etc. My experiences with the Law of Attraction have been best though when I am able to approach a goal/vision, etc. from a place of feeling positive (rather than from positive thinking).

I had a great example of this when I was on a Hay House cruise last summer. I have been into the personal development world for years. I am an avid reader of many wise authors in the area of personal development: Wayne Dyer, Cheryl Richardson, Debbie Ford, Tony Robbins, etc. I've listened to lectures by and read books by Esther and Jerry Hicks. I watched, "The Secret" repeatedly, etc. I'm big on setting goals, planning, follow through, etc. That's all great, but it can be very cerebral. Anyway, I was with a very dear friend since childhood on that cruise. By nature, she is a very happy, grounded, good natured, easy going person. I introduced her to the writings of a lot of the personal development authors. In a sense, then, I felt like I had a head start on this topic. What I observed repeatedly during this cruise was that a lot of great things happened to her, naturally and with ease during the course of the week. For example, I would plan to meet an author, get there early , wait in line, etc. Whereas, her experience seemed to flow naturally. She would run into the author at the gym or over coffee and have a nice chat by happenstance. What I am trying to say, is that we both had some of the same goals or desires. Yet, often, she was in a more positive vibration, if you will, and wonderful experiences flowed to her. I noticed in my own experiences, that as I relaxed and got out of my head and into a more joyful and relaxed state, much better experiences flowed my way as well.

Also, I have witnessed the Law of Attraction in the negative way as well. I do believe that when people say they woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or they should have stayed in bed that day, that is due to the Law of Attraction. It is not just that bad things come in three, or that the day was unlucky. It's just that once something bad happens, more bad things will happen if you keep on noticing the bad things and believing that the day is bad. Then you may end up in a bad mood, notice more bad things, and the pattern continues.

So, yes, I believe in the Law of Attraction. I believe that if you visualize, focus, take action, and take care of your state of being, great things will naturally be attracted to all of these positive elements within you. Like is attracted to like. If you are having a bad day, do something to shake it off. Go for a walk. Take some time out. Read something funny or positive. Change your mood. Change your vibration. What you are attracted to and what is attracted to you will change accordingly.

The law of gravity is science and the success rate here on Earth is 100%, the alleged "law" of attraction is new thought pseudoscience and the success rate is in fractions of a single per centage point (which means the failure rate is 99% plus). Supposedly in this alleged "law" thoughts have an energy which attracts whatever it is the person is thinking of.

        Sorry but couldn't disagree more!
"the alleged "law" of attraction is new thought pseudoscience" - Actually the Law of Attraction is very much grounded in Quantum Physics. BTW, this is the physics they probably DIDN'T teach you in school (I for one would have paid a lot more attention if they had!) Read 'The Answer' by John Assaraf.- applies the Law of Attraction and quantum physics breakthroughs to building your business success - fantastic.

It works, but it's incomplete. The LOA is a secondary law, actually. A primary law is the law of vibration. It's your vibration that actually sets up the attractive force within you that triggers the LOA. Your vibration is determined by your paradigm (i.e. combination of your core beliefs, subconscious programming and habits), which drives your dominant thoughts. ("You become what you think about most of the time.") You can change your vibration (and thus the results you create and attract in your life) by changing your paradigm to overwrite many of the limiting beliefs embedded there since childhood. You can change your paradigm (and thus your vibration and point of attraction) by reprogramming yourself with empowering ideas, beliefs and goals. You do this via repetitive and consistent positive self-talk and full sensory visualization. It's simple, but not easy (that's the dirty little secret of personal development). Persistence and consistency in the reprogramming effort will pay tremendous dividends.

I think that it does work. I've also tried to focus on things that I want rather than on stuff that I don't want. I'm grateful for the little positive things that happen in my life, such as the 20-dollar bill I found in the street during a bike ride. And the wonderful dream I had recently involving stacks and stacks of hundred-dollar bills, though I wish I could remember what happened before and after in that dream.

Staying focused on a positive goal and making an effort to reach it would likely yield great results. Just an opinion.....

Thanks for starting this thread Liam, it's been great reading.

I really don't care to convince anyone that the law of attraction "works." It's there whether you believe it or not. (That's my opinion and anyone is free to disagree!)

I was pretty turned off by all the hype around the movie/book The Secret because (1) the LOA is no secret, people have been writing and talking about it for years, and (2) The Secret set forth the belief that you can think and attract riches with no action, which I find ridiculous and misleading.

It doesn't surprise me that in this great bunch of "doers" so many people recognize that the key is ACTION. Not so much in the general population of the world.

Here are some of my favorite thoughts about the LOA. From Wallace Wattles in the Science of Getting Rich (published in 1910):

Thought is the creative power, or the impelling force which causes the creative power to act; thinking in a Certain Way will bring riches to you, but you must not rely upon thought alone, paying no attention to personal action. That is the rock upon which many otherwise scientific metaphysical thinkers meet shipwreck -- the failure to connect thought with personal action.

By thought you can cause the gold in the hearts of the mountains to be impelled toward you; but it will not mine itself, refine itself, coin itself into double eagles, and come rolling along the roads seeking its way into your pocket. (end of quote)

So I'm off to mine some gold, or hire someone to do it for me. . .

I've been using these principles for over well over 30 years. So yes, I know they work. But this is not a "belief" for me.

      It is a knowing.

I've written one book about this already, and have several articles up on EZA to this topic, as well as a website or two that addresses it.

For me it started with reading the Seth books by Jane Roberts, The Nature of Personal Reality.

And I've read countless others since the mid-70's. But more importantly than gaining head knowledge, I have applied these principles of the LOA in my life on a daily basis.

What most people don't realize is that this "law" is the foundation for how the Universe works.

The Law of Attraction is always on. You cannot turn it off. And it responds to your vibrations -- not your thoughts or not your emotions -- but your thoughts married to your emotions.

The energy is emitted from your heart center -- and there is a whole lot of science to "prove" this electromagnetic field.

If you find, however, that you're trying to think, act, and emote positively and are consequently getting the opposite experiences, it is because you have a sub-conscious subliminal belief programmed into your "subconscious" long before you were even aware of it.

When your parents said things like "money doesn't grow on trees," a reaction to that saying was implanted into your subconscious. When you find that your experience is running counter to what you think you are affirming, it is because the sub-conscious is so much more powerful than your conscious ramblings.

Most people don't realize that they operate on auto-pilot most of their lives and respond to the events in their lives accordingly. I'm sure you've had the experience of driving in your car and arriving where you intended to go not remembering the ride. This is because your subconscious took over.

Wool-gathering is another name for the subconscious coming forward.

I think the younger that you are when you "hook-up" with the understanding of the law of attraction, the better it goes for you. Less crap in the crapper, so to speak.

I could fill a book with all the things that I've created consciously using the law of attraction, as well as the things that have cropped up from the unconscious side of things as well -- but by far, the good stuff outweighs the bad -- because the bad is just a frame for the good.

As you take this journey, the more consciousness you apply to your life, the more information you will have available at your fingertips through what is known as your "intuition." The more you consciously embrace these principles, the more they root in your being.

It is a wonderful journey that I wouldn't change for the world. I have consciously used the law of attraction to not only attract my husband, but design and build my three story dream house on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada, just this side of Lake Tahoe.

And yes, we literally built it. No carpenters, no plumbers, no electricians, no tile setters, no cabinet makers.

All this without ever having built anything before.

I think most people think I'm making this stuff up -- but I have all the proof in the pictures. And frankly, I don't care what they think, I know what I did and so does my husband.

It was not an easy row to hoe, but we did it, and a beaut she is! The land itself we attracted to us. Took us 9 months to find her, but when I stepped over the fence and first set foot on this land, I knew I was home.

If you want to see pictures of the view we have from our front deck (only three of the pictures were NOT take from the deck, you can go here:

Photos Taken From My Deck, No Shoes Needed! | Law of Attraction Masters

I use the photos from the land taken by me, from the deck (except those three and you can tell which ones they are) as part of my banner headers.

      Enjoy!

I always love to hear stories of people who are "getting it!" If you embark on the journey, many more wonderful things will open up to you along the way.

You are at the beginning of a very beautiful unfolding.

Mr. Subtle obviously hasn't listened to Edgar Mitchell, moonwalker and member of Apollo 14, or read anything by Ken Wilbur or Gregg Braden, or say, Dr. Bruce Lipton, or Dr. Dean Radin, who is conducting scientific studies on these very topics.

Oh yeah, the HeartMath Institute, and all the work Lynn McTaggert is doing and cataloged with her books, THE FIELD and The Intention Experiment (gee, the father of Quantum Physics, Neils Bohr even talks about that...) The Divine Matrix, hmmmm, another name coined by a very famous physicist.

What ARE They doing talking like that?

I guess he's never heard of the discovery from the early 1900's called SUBJECTIVE REALITY.

But then reality, cannot be viewed from any other viewpoint BUT SUBJECTIVE. Hmmmm, amazing how THAT works.

I think the most important thing is self-discipline in LOA. You have to know when to do what things weather you like it or not. For example, you know you have to meet the deadline, so you need to maybe write 5 articles a day, but maybe when you wake up this morning, you don't really feel like of doing it, I think if you are well self-disciplined, you will still do the 5 articles cuz you know you need that to meet your deadline, but if you are not doing it, LOA is going away from you.
So I think self-discipline is really important.

The Secret isn't a "law". It's not some scientific phenomena that you can measure.

    Despite that it is valid.

The greatest proof of it's validity is the fact that ALL successful people have cultivated the mindset that the Secret describes.

And for the record the movie was complete junk. Don't draw your conclusion based on that. Read "Think and Grow Rich" which is the modern origin of the concept and then judge.

I think the LOA is the Santa Claus of personal development. People want to believe that if they wish for what they want someone of something will bring it to them. However it is just not true. As I mention in my eboook, the inspiration for the Secret was Wallace Wattle's the Science of Getting Rich, but Chapter 12 on Efficient Action was left out. Why? because the Secret is a marketing phenamenom and if they tried to sell action ie work, it would not sell. The reality is it is the action that produces results. If you like to think positively great, but action makes it real.

It's been some time that you posted this - do you see the same trend continuing and by the way have you kept your mindset sticking to the law of attraction in the meanwhile?

Originally Posted by Liam Hamer View Post

The most amazing thing about this is that it really isn't much of a secret. Highly spiritual thinkers have been talking about this concept that we hear talked about as, "the law of attraction" all throughout history; from Buddha to Gandhi, to the present day, Obama and his preaching of hope. These are simply different ways of telling us to focus on our what we do want, instead of what we don't want because either way, it will happen. Now, philosophically I don't believe that thinking purely positive thoughts will stop bad things from happening. People will still become ill and die no matter how much you focus on that new set of golf clubs that you want. The real issue at hand here, is cultivating a mind set that is able to harness the good nature in any situation. Whether you want to admit this or not, good and bad can be derived from any circumstance and every occurrence. You will find the horrible truth about winning the lottery if you want to see it. Everyone you know will come out of the wood work and demand money from you, as well as the fact that most of those winnings will be taxed away before you even touch it. However, if you want to see the positive light after having witnessed your father die, you can find that too. Perhaps, you and your sister had become estranged, and this helped to bring you closer together, or it allowed you to realize the truth about something your father had taught you in the past. Whatever it is, when you set your mind to something, it will find it. Voltaire put it nicely this way, "No problem can withstand the sustained assault of thinking".

If you really think about it there are many more laws at work in our universe. Even without one of them, the whole system would collapse. The real Secret is how to tap into the laws, know them and to be able to use them consciously.

    Liam,

Great post! I am a firm believer in all things positive. I would like to add that actually speaking aloud your positive thoughts will do wonders for your enthusiasm and your success. I give myself a pep talk every single day and sometimes more than once a day. When I have bad days, I say out loud "Failure is not an option. I am on the verge of success and I will make it!"

This thread has been a great read.

About 12 years ago I went through a really crappy time after splitting up with my partner and after a while I said to myself "I need to relax and start looking after myself".

So, I took it upon myself to buy books and teach myself "Tai Chi". I also read the very good "Tai of Pooh" series of books.

Now Im not Kidding that Once I taught myself to relax and be more aware of myself and my surroundings that some pretty amazing things started to happen.

Within one year I had started on a completely different proffesion, moved up the ranks and landed a 1000 pound a week job.

I just started to live a really fun life.

Sadly I forgot all about "Tai Chi" when I started to have Too much fun.

Tai Chi is very similar to what is written about here.

This thread has me motivated again.

The Law of Attraction for sure works. You attract what you think about. Even how do you feel right now by reading these lines depends on your thoughts. Try to remind for yourself now one of the best days of your life ... think about those good details that you had on those days ... did you fall in love with someone, or was it your birthday party? Imagine you are there right now ... how do feel now? Better ? Oh I can see even smile on your face :-)

    Great points everyone! Thumbs up!

I believe in this since the "MIND" has always been the most powerful controlling agent in our bodies and that as we think positively on things that we wanted to pursue, it sends out positive message all throughout our systems just like a medicine! It's just that the more you think, the more you create things even if you haven't touched it yet.

It's so powerful as it exercises both your mind and body to create things in mind and take action on it. And, at almost full potential, everything gets into place in an instant - all things attract!

I'm just trying to grasp this concept. I read that the LOA is the secret to prosperity, health, relationships and happiness and that we're in control of our own destiny.

When someone who believes in the LOA experiences sickness, poor health or tragedy, how do you reconcile that with your belief?

Belief is irrelevant and unnecessary. Believe in gravity, or don't. Either way, it will have its effect in your life. The same is true for LOA.

What IS relevant is how you apply it. In general terms, think positive thoughts and LOA will bring you more positive thoughts. Think negative thoughts and it will bring you more negative thoughts.

How you FEEL about those thoughts is your barometer to how well aligned you are with your intentions. It is entirely possible to think negative thoughts ("I wish somebody would punch that guy in the face!") and feel good about it. Be aware that feeling really good about it means that it is much more likely to happen.

"Great!", you say. "That guy was a jerk. He had it coming." But, LOA is now going to bring you more negative thoughts. And more. And more. In time, you will not feel so wonderful about your mental situation. In addition, your physical, social, economic, spiritual conditions all will feel the effects of your negative thought patterns, although some will be affected more than others. You may end up feared by your enemies, but miserably alone.

My primary teacher for LOA specifics is/are Abraham (Home of Abraham-Hicks Law of Attraction -- It All Started Here!). They would say that sickness is the result of a person not being vibrationally aligned with their desires; that they need to clean up their vibration in relation to what they think about. My translation: sickness is a manifestation of how we feel about something.

      Hope that helps.

Here's my take on the Law of Attraction:

It's really not meant to be "used." It's not something that your using or not its just like gravity. You don't have to tell someone gravity exists in order for them to know that it does or to feel the effects of it. You don't need to know what electricity is in order to benefit from it. It's in the background in this attraction based universe.

Really, I think the most important take away from LOA teachings, self help, new age, or whatever is that we are responsible for the way our lives turn out. You can only control one thing and that is yourself.
You're not going to sit in a room and meditate and have ferraris pull up in your driveway. But, If you believe in yourself and your abilities you can take the right actions in order to acquire what you desire.

What things like meditation can do for you is get you in a state of clear mind where you can see opportunities that you couldn't see before.

You can't solve problems at the same level of mind that created them. When you are no longer activating the state of consciousness that the problem originated at, then you are able to arrive upon the solution because if there is a problem there must be solution as all things are connected. Solution and problem are the same. They are different sides of the same coin.

Further more I believe that in order to fully understand the creation process you would have to understand that we are spiritual beings having a human experience and not the other way around.

With that said you could not believe in any of this stuff and still be successful in life. I just think its easier to live life when you don't have to worry about anything because you know that life is a game and we're all going to die some day so you might as well enjoy the life that you have now. Just enjoy the ride.

We are attracting whether we believe it or not. Not believing is also attracting...no decision is still a decision. We are the creators of our experiences and realities whether we want to accept it or not. Sometimes it's a pretty tough pill to swallow.

How and why does prayer work? It is a focused intent and a belief that miracles can happen.

Yes, its true, what you think about often, comes about!

As, was written in the secret, before I go home at night, I say, I'm going to have a wonderful evening with my partner! & I do.
If I am doubting it or feeling bad about the evening, it usually turns up, just as I have thought.

Another thing though, the positive thoughts are more powerful than the negative thoughts, so don't worry about the negative ones too much.

      Cash Monk:

While in a way you are correct -- please let me clarify. First off, I've been using this and many more Universal laws for more than 30 years, long before it was termed the "law of attraction." I have also written a book about it, used these principles to bring many "things" into my life, including my husband, cars, objects, the land on which we built our dream house AND the dream house! I am not someone who speaks without experience.

It is not the "denial" of the thing that brings it to you -- rather it is the detachment from the need of it that brings it to you. If you chase after something, your need to have it, pushes it away -- because you are attached to it.

Rather when you desire something, you envision having it, feel it, experience the gratitude of it AND THEN LET IT GO. This is not denial, but rather a detachment.

The point of this is to be thankful for whatever is in your life now and to send a vibration out to the Universe that is one of thanks. Thankful people -- thanks that is felt and experience in the heart -- brings more things to be thankful for.

Additionally, the law of attraction doesn't mean sit on your couch and do nothing. When you feel tugged in a certain direction, follow through with it.

People can argue all day long as to whether the law of attraction works or not. They can believe in it or not -- it does not matter to me. I have no desire to convince them it works. Naysayers get what they desire in life, just as everyone else does -- whether that desire is conscious or unconscious.

Just as the sun shines everyday whether or not we can see it, the law of attraction works in everyone's life -- to bring them exactly what they focus most upon. If your focus is one that says "the law of attraction doesn't work," then the evidence that you desire of this continually shows up, LOL!

Science has proven that when you imagine something, have a daydream about it, couple it with some wonderful feelings -- your brain does not know the difference from the imagining or the reality. In other words, when you look out of your head at the world and what is going on in your life, have judgments and feelings about it -- it is EXACTLY the same as if you are imagining it.

The measure by which you can tell anything exists in this world is subjective: through you and your five senses, thoughts and feelings. Purely subjective. IF you choose to believe this or that -- that is what you get.

These things are part and parcel of quantum physics. PERIOD. Go read about Neils Bohr and Max Planck -- and then go read up on what's happening today. It will blow your mind. That is if you're willing to be open about it.

I truly feel sorry for a person with a closed mind and wish them all the best in the world -- having their mind shut up like a steel trap is a sad thing. They've become rigid and they've lost the joy and discovery they had as children.

We live in a beautiful and marvelous world regardless of what the masses choose to believe.

I love working with the Law of Attraction! It is a thrill for me to feel the success of whatever it is I am striving for deep in my heart and subconscious - and the more I take action - no matter how small - in the direction of the success I am envisioning, the more that I see the evidence of things that will be helpful to me moving my way.

It is wonderful to see so many people learning and applying what they learn to their lives. What a wonderful world we live in!

So true, but after studying positive psychology at my college there is scientific proof of how the "system of" the law of attraction works. But it works through the ignorance of people. What we are doing by "following" the LOA is actually causing an effect.

I feel it is not my place to post the scientific proof, mixing science and new age religion beliefs can be seen as insulting, but i'll leave the research up to everyone else.

@LD Carter Beautiful Post! I Love Napoleon Hill.

If I may add something else of proof:

"We Live In A World Of Thought"

Hold up a pencil. Where did it come from? A factory. Before that the factory cut down trees. It came from earth, from nature. But what prompted that. Someone sat down with their quill and had an idea. They had an idea to help all people, to make a practical item for people. The thought of pencil started in a man's mind and is now in your hand. You are holding a thought, made specifically for you. Look at the chair you sit in, the computer you use, the walls that house and protect you, the building you live in, the streets and roads upon which you live. We Live In A World Of Thought. Where everything had once originated in mind and was "manifested" in the "objective", or "real word".

This is not something that people just started talking about in recent years. This knowledge goes back millenniums. For people that are into religion, they would notice that their religious texts talks about the same concept. The first person to talk about it in mainstream and actually call it "The Law Of Attraction" was Napoleon Hill when he wrote the Law Of Success in 1925. This is also what Wallace Wattles was talking about in "The Science Of Getting Rich." But before then, the thought-creation technique never really had a specific name. But the concept was shared amongst a small group of people. Andrew Carnegie was the first one that felt the need to teach the world about this.

The leading scientist andmathematician of the early 20th century (Thomas Edison & Albert Einstein) confirmed that the brain is a lot like a radio in that it broadcasts and receives vibrational frequencies. But the power of thought is WAY more powerful than a wave sent out by a radio or satellite. So basically, you can pick up a thought from a brain that's on the same frequency as yours. And another brain can pick up a thought from you if it's on the same frequency...even if that person is on a different side of the planet.

Here's what Thomas Edison said: For all the skeptics that are constantly bashing people for believing in mind-power and thought creation, I want to see you discredit Thomas Edison...the greatest inventor of all-time.

I see reply after reply from people saying, "Forget that LOA crap! You need to take action and stick to good ole fashion hard-work instead of listening to this." Well, first and foremost, no one ever said that The Law Of Attraction is a substitute for taking ACTION and working hard. However, when you understand The Law Of Attraction (which the skeptics don't), you understand that when your thoughts are right, your actions become a pleasure. That's when you begin to work smart and not hard. Not only that, your efforts become ORGANIZED. Action and hard work without a proper state of mind will yield you nothing except meager results at best. But when you take Action when opportunities present themselves as a result of the vibrational frequencies you've put out into the Universe, that makes it a heck of a lot easier. That's the difference! No one is saying "sit on your butt and just think all day." We're saying attract what you want and work hard when your opportunity comes.

As for modern day scientific proof...there are video games where you hookup a device to your head and control the ball with your thoughts. "Bbbbbbut...thoughts aren't physical things." Well, that's a lie.

Great argument for defending the Law of Attraction. I definitely agree with this! I'm really sick and tired of people claiming the LoA is bull-crap and does not work. They bash people who choose to believe in it and they become envious of people who succeed with it.

To all the people against LoA.... I respect your opinion and please respect ours... to each his own.

How do you decide what the right actions are without first having positive thoughts?

"The righter you do the wrong things, the wronger you become". Don't know who said that, but it's spot on.

A person can spend all day taking action and get no closer to their goals if they haven't first thought out their actions.

Billions of people go to work each day, and over years and years, their lives barely change. Why? Because they don't think. The people who make a difference in the world are the thinkers. Thinkers can delegate to an endless line of people who would rather act than think.

Thought is infinitely more valuable than action.

Positive thinking alone won't get you anywhere great except in your mind; if you want to change your reality then thinking "attractive" thoughts PLUS taking measurable action steps is essential.

I do a lot in the fitness/weight loss area and that is one of the things I tell people. It is amazing what a person can do when they set their mind to it. I recently read a post in a weight loss forum where a guy was asking for help. Someone replied that he should use positive thinking - he basically laughed and said something to the effect that it wasn't a "real" response. I defnitely have to differ.
The Law of Attraction is all about positive thinking. We can train our brain for positive thinking using positive affirmations....
The easiest way is to use post it notes or notecards with positive affirmations and read them continuously.
And of course, make a plan - nothing works without action!

Yeah, definitely your view of the world affects your feelings and that affects your actions. I think that book/movie 'the secret' is a bit sensationalized, however.

i SURELY believe it! as i felt it but you gotta be in sync with your mind-hard-universe! if not it wont work!...you gotta take that time to really FEEL it...if you have a dream car...take a moment to really FEEL IT, see yourself in the car, rub your butt on the nice leather seats of the car...turn the ac on and feel the breeze! feel the car on the curvs....you'll see sooner or later the more you do it the faster you'll get the car! visualize and mentalize it!

LOA works and does so whether you believe in it or not. It is most effective when you do not have conflicting thoughts and visions. As others have mentioned, it helps align your mind to see what you have been missing. Often in a brief flash of information presented to you as a hunch, image or thought. It is then up to you to follow through with that flash. Ignore it and LOA has done nothing for you.

The Law of Attraction works, but the subconscious is the key. If the subconscious doesn't have input to support you it will not help you, and if it has negative reference about what you are trying to do then you'll really have your work cut out for you.

To make the Law of Attraction really work, you must reprogram you subconscious. It comes down to reconditioning the subconscious to look at what it once thought of as harmful as helpful or at the minimum not harmful.

yeah I strongly believe your words. Our thoughts, those inner words you tell yourself when no one else can hear, they really can affect everything you do - positively or negatively.

Your thoughts can literally change your life.

I definitely believe that there is something going on beyond most of our conscious awareness that ties all of this together! I've seen many instances, and still do almost daily in my life, of things randomly showing up in my life that are in congruence with either the mental state I'm in at the moment, or what I'm about as a person at this stage! Great Post!

Yes, I am a believer of LOA. It has worked for me for years now. You get what you envision. This is especially helpful when one needs a little push over what seems to be an unattainable dream.

It does work, I agree the Secret gave us the thirst for more, but it needs more explanation!
There are a lot of those who are trying to give that explanation: eg. Wayne Dyer, Carole Dore, Joe Vitale, etc.

Find one which you like! They all help with awareness!

I'm a 100% believer except for one stipulation.

The Law of Attraction talks about Likes attracting Likes. So if you're positive you'll attract more positive into your life (something of that nature).

However, in physics, it's a law that Opposites attract. I'm talking on a subatomic level though. Magnets and such. WHAT IF: thoughts function on a subatomic level and so all your positive energy is actually REPELLING other positive energy? If only that were true, I'm really good at being bitter.

Although, now that I think of it, even on a human level opposites attract. (ie. Male and Female).

It's all semantics and I'm probably not remembering it accurately, but that has always been my little quibble with it.

Besides that, LOA all the way! I've always gotten what I knew I was 100% capable of getting. Though, I never got that girl... I guess I didn't really believe I could. I just wanted to believe.

    Recent Example.

My wife started and runs a charity for children with autism and their families. Part of her work involves fundraising.
Approximately 5 or 6 weeks ago, there was an article in a local newsapaper about a local firm of builders merchants, stating how well they were doing during the 'reccession', taking on more employees etc.
On seeing the article, Lisa declared "I want to get them to sponsor OJs in some way". Since saying that, she has spotted the company owner driving around a couple of times in his Audi R8 (nice) but still hadn't got round to approaching him.

Last Friday, Lisa and I (being a trustee of the charity) and a couple of other trustees had a meeting with someone who can guide us in implementing safety procedures etc. Straight after our meeting, the lady we were seeing had another meeting in the same town (strange for her as she didn't have any previous clients there).

On Sunday, Lisa got an email from this lady confirming her prices from our meeting, but also saying that the meeting after ours was with the boss of the builders merchant company (she knew nothing of what Lisa had said to me) and that she'd mentioned the charity to him. He was keen to know more and actually offered through this lady, to help if he could.

A meeting was arranged for Wednesday, and now the charity has been given an office to work from within our budget as his company also has rental offices (we have been looking for a suitable office for months!). They are sponsoring a family day next summer which typically costs around £800 ($1250), and is keen to raise other money for OJs through his contacts.

All started with a firm statement of intent, and a belief that it would be done.

Lisa put the thought out there; it was picked up by someone willing, and in a position, to pass it on, and eventually it was received by the intended 'target' (for want of a better word) who is happy to help.

It's important to say, that Lisa didn't stress over it or ever doubt it would happen. The action she took was indirect - setting up the meeting with the lady who never knew of Lisa's intention.

    And that's how it works.

Belief is the key - the magnet that makes all the other aspects come together. Belief is the emotion that powers the LoA.

Wonderful post there about the LoA. You need to have that firm, unshakeable belief that things will happen a certain way, and then you just go about your efforts the best way you know how without really having any knowledge or preconceived notions of how things will materialize.

The LoA does not mean you quit doing everything and just sit around waiting for things to happen. Your work will be focused and move you in the right direction (with input from your subconscious) and pretty much all your activities, thoughts and interactions will be harmonious with the original belief/intention that you had set, if you're doing this properly, and this is where the magic happens without any deliberate "willpower" or "positive thinking" on your part.

I do believe that it works, a positive attitude always beats out a negative one...but I think that the length that The Secret goes is a little far. If you want a boyfriend, I don't think making room in your closet for his clothes and sleeping on one side of you bed anticipating his arrival doesn't change anything. Its positivity and confidence that makes the difference!

    Hey Liam

Great post! And nice to hear such motivating real life story on goal setting.

What I would like to add:

    - Write down your goals and stick them up on the wall where you can see them often. Goals that have been written down have a higher success rate. Also, what helps for me is to use different colored pens to highlight my goals. (The human brain remembers colors easier then plain black & white)
    - Write down positive affirmations on your fridge. Also highlighting them with colors.

Hope it helps! I wish I could use color in these posts

    Cheers,

    Reno

I’ve seen the LOA work it’s like anger; if you dwell on it you fuel it and build it stronger. What you focus on is the direction you’ll head and attract those that are the same wavelength as you.

    Sviegert Says:

"Yeah, the secret didn't explain it very well... but the Law Of Attraction is a law, it's like gravity, and it shows how ignorant people can be with the name of this thread. Asking do you believe in the law of attraction is like asking people do they believe in the law of gravity, and even if they said they didn't it would still affect them.

The Law Of Attraction, like gravity, is unapologetically present, and it's only one of nature's laws.

Most people make the mistake of just applying the law of attraction by just thinking about what it is that they want and affirming it and visualizing it and forgetting about the action portion, but it does exist, it's just not as big of a deal as the secret made it out to be.

By the way, the very reason that I am posting this right now is because of the Law Of Attraction. The reason I'm on the internet making any money at all is because of the Law Of Attraction.

I wanted to find more ways to make money, and I found them. Simple as that."
