Hey Mind Warriors.

A small question with a big philosophy behind it.

What is your WHY??

Why do you do anything in life? Why did you choose the path of Online Entrepreneurship?

Are you consciously aware of the reasons behind whatever you do or do you simply follow the herd?

Interesting question.

This sounds more like a goal or an achievement Melanie.
You want to help people develop their passions so they lead a fulfilled life.

WHY do you wanna do it?

What was the reason that got you to consciously decide that this is what you wanted to do?

The answers may not be as easy to come up as you think but if you look hard enough, it may as well give you a new driving force full of energy towards your goal.

That is great. You don't like corporate culture meaning you don't wanna work for any corporation and you can't picture yourself in the 9 to 5 grid confined in your cubicle, living the J.O.B life, commuting to work and basically make someone else rich while you grind.

As for your destiny, What exactly do you do? like for a living?
Are you a self employed entrepreneur? if so, life is gooooood :-)

My "WHY" is to help as many people as I can get what they want.

I want to give give and give. I want to help others achieve their dreams. From there I know I will achieve my dreams as well.

I would like to achieve ultimate personal and financial FREEDOM. Freedom to do anything I want in life. Go where I want to go and do anything I want to do.

I think it was Zig Ziglar who said If you help enough people to get what they want, you will most certainly get what you want.

I quite like your 'why' and its quite similar to mine

It has never been easier to inspire and help others due to this day and age where we have access to millions at our fingertips and Internet has opened so many doors that were impossible to even think of a decade ago.

Some great replies on my Blog about it too and it has really touched a few strings in people's minds who are just living their life without a purpose.

I wish you all the Best in your quest.

Why? Work 25 hours a month instead of 200, this doesn't include the extra 20 hours of driving in traffic a month. Financially independent, be my own boss, live life how its supposed to be lived...without worry.

I love these kinds of questions. My definitive why for getting up in the morning, let alone for IMing, is three-fold:
    1) To support and help my daughter to thrive
    2) To cultivate and maintain a joyful relationship with my Fiance
    3) To give back to a community to help enrich the soil for untold generations in the future.

I know these reasons are pretty standard, and somewhat trite, but when I think about it, nothing goes deeper than these three things in my life and, therefore, nothing else can motivate me any harder.

So far I'd agree with everyone. Freedom is huge to me and so is the ability to help others. I also like the idea of building my own dream and not someone else's. the money is just a means to an end which is freedom. Of course you can't help anyone including yourself when you're broke.

For me the only reason to do this is the freedom.

Before this I only had to work maybe 4 hours a day at something that was easy and fairly fun, but I couldn't really do it outside the U.S. and this'll let me travel abroad.

    It's also pretty darn interesting.

My why is quite selfish when compared to others here. But I guess when you really think about it, how can you help others before you first help yourself. I want to have the freedom to make my own choices and not have those choices limited by my bank account. In addition to this, I want to inspire others to achieve their own success and I really want to make my mum and dad proud.

Some excellent replies here guys and I am not surprised the Freedom is the core element of most of you here.

Money is secondary, always is and has been. Most of us just live under the illusion that we want more and more money to succeed, apparently we don't care to look around to see millionaires with broken hearts and twisted relationships with no real bond with their kids and no real ambition to pursue.

We want the Freedom to nurture all that we want in life and that is what Money facilitates. Simple.

I have another post here, http://www.warriorforum.com/mind-war...VSC07WNdz5lJzL its a report I wrote about the success mindset, free for you to download [no optin required] and in this report I have expanded upon 'WHY' among other elements that I think are crucial for Online Success.

Don't forget the 'Thanks' button under my post if you like it. Its the only way I'll know if you did.

p.s. Keep the replies coming as it will inspire others to look deep into themselves and find out their WHY...

Quite simple. I hate the idea of selling my soul for money (i.e. the '9-to-5' / corporate thing).

On the other hand, I simply love simplicity, and this business model is quite distilled, boiled down to a series of easy steps. Online entrepreneurship rids you of all the worries of stocking hard goods, shipping etc.

As for the REWARDS - they're huge. You get financial independence AND you can work from any location. I'm planning to move to Spain this summer. And this doesn't change my Internet Marketing plans at all. As long as there's an internet connection and I have my laptop computer with me, I can manage my business from pretty much anywhere.

This is why I chose online entrepreneurship and why I would never choose a traditional business involving hard goods or services - such as opening up a restaurant or providing consultation. These models are not easily scalable.

Great Thread!! Why's the most important part of successful marketing.

My why is to help people and make a healthy living doing it. I want to be able to travel & pursue new hobbies without being limited by money & time. I just want to have a completely free lifestyle so I can do what I want with my life(who knows what that'll be in the future you know?) and to help other people do the same along the way.

Answering the "Why" question sometimes is much difficult to answer than "How".

So for the simpler sense, I started investing to earn from online business because since I am always active participating to communities online, surfing and learning new things, etc. I better have to utilize all those learning and network to build my own and definitely to start earning money without working for others.

Why? Because I REFUSE to do anything I don't like or don't want to do. Period. Especially NON-Negotiable for all the "poor me" needy so-called friends that come around from time to time. When you choose a different path for your own reasons, don't you make some people angry, secretly most of the time...do you have to watch out for "frenemies" lurking around?

There is a price to pay when you make demands on people who expect "help" over and over again. Eventually they must all understand this concept: just because you need something doesn't make you entitled to it.

Example: You loan your car to your boyfriend who has no drivers license. He gets pulled over (never happens to him, ever) and your car is impounded for 30-days, $1,000 due or the car is up for auction.

You NEED to get the money to pay the $1,000. We get that.

#1) You NEED a car to drop your child off at school.
Answer: Not so easy when children are involved. See below.

#2) You NEED a car to get to work or you'll be FIRED.
    Answer: Bus Schedule.

#3) You really need to find someone to loan you the $1,000 to get your car back.
    Answer: Happy Hunting

WHAT TO DO?? It's YOUR friend's child...YOUR bank account is fat and you have 3 cars and a truck...Hmmm...ALL EYES ON YOU...plus YOU work at home...your kids walk to school. Is it anyone's business WHY you have so many cars? That's funny. People WILL ask that question. I don't know about you, but I laugh at the funny things people ask Here's how you help your friend get out of this mess:

#1) Contact the school and ask for the names of the closest children in the child's class. ASK the parents if they can take turns stopping by to pick-up the child, making sure it's on their way. Do NOT ask anyone more than 1/2 mile away..that's just rude.

NOTE: If the closest parent looks like an ex-con with nose-rings & tatoos....oh well. He IS recommended by the school. When your friend complains, using the child of course, saying her child is too scared to go with a stranger to school, you say: Too bad. You don't have a car, remember?

For all others, as a Last Resort: I "compromise" and loan the latest "friend" $50. They happily praise, smile big and sing songs full of promises to repay the $50 next ____whatever. Until they pay that $50 back there is nothing else to talk about.

Phone rings: Do you have my money?

Response: Uh..Oh, I will, Uh, well...

    Click

Does anyone else have "frenemies" or am I the only lucky one in the bunch? And, do you get negative, critical comments about what you do, when you sleep, when you work because your choices don't conform to society. Politically incorrect, are we? LOLOL Why not?

HOW else can you do what you want if you don't RID yourself of the people who don't matter?? HOW? You can't if you're always running on command..don't do it!! Help them be resourceful or they can find someone else to "help" them... because they won't help you work, will they?? According to them, you don't work so they can't see how you need any help ....

I was off put by the way you said, "I REFUSE to do anything I don't like or don't want to do." because it sounded callous, and it is callous. It made me think that you consider other people sources of problems that you don't need. But, after reading your entire post, I like the way you think creatively about problems and don't immediately give in to the demands/pleads of others. Sometimes it is important to be able to say no, and sometimes it is equally important to help out a friend in need. Naturally, it's a circumstantial judgement call. I just wanted to say I liked the "outside the box" (I hate that trite phrase, but it fits, lol) thinking you had, and shared with us.

      Hello SilentX,

I wasn't always so callous but that comes with helping more people than I can remember, bank-rolled several and every one of them would still have their hands out if I didn't flip the script on them all, one by one.

Helping people is what everyone says they want to do and they enjoy helping and offer help constantly in return for appreciation. Words don't matter. Results do because that shows all that help was for a good reason. It wasn't wasted on someone who didn't appreciate the desktop computer you GAVE HIM - he wanted one of those laptops he saw. Let me tell him for you.... Fat chance. Now you get nothing! Get out! LOLOLOL

I think the underlying motivation that drives most all of human endeavors is love and approval. What particular activities a person chooses is based on the historical accidents of the person's life--upbringing, location, gender, socio-economic status, genetics, role models, innate ability, etc.

Exactly. That's exactly why people make most decisions and that starts way back in the day with "peer pressure" at school and that can be deadly...kids following dumber kids! On top of all that, some kids with the best of the best upbringings still show signs of genetic defects until they turn 25 - if they live that long.

Parents beat themselves up because of what "everyone must be thinking" and keep secrets which causes stress. Don't do it. 7 out of 10 don't care, 2 are glad because they feel so much better now and the last 1 is your Mom who obviously cares but she's busy beating herself up wondering what she could have done differently!

I applaud anyone who makes it to this forum and actually posts comments that meet the WF Elders approval.
I keep coming back hoping I get some!

Approval is the key to taking action. All you have to do is tell people what they already know because that is the confirmation or the approval that indirectly tells them, Hey, I'm right. I can do this but most of all, people believe what they already know, not what anyone else says. We always have hope and "believe it when I see it" means exactly that. Get that APPROVAL stamp out. Belief is coming around the corner!

Seems like a strange question doesn't it? However, the truth is that there is a reason or a why for everything that we do.
I continually hear about people who set this goal or that goal for themselves, mostly in the form of a New Year's resolution, only hear that the vast majority of them fail soon after they begin. It is sad to know that so many people fail to reach these goals. It is not because these goals are not something they desire, or something they would like to have happen, but because they didn't ask themselves what their "why" is.

Having goals and working toward them is something that is very commendable. However, if your ultimate purpose for reaching that goal, your "why", is not strong enough then your chances of getting there are minimized.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[2031010].message }}

yup. If only they have a simple WHY when setting up a new year resolution, the success rate to sticking to that resolution will increase dramatically.

For example: My new years resolution is to loose weight. [this won't cut it]

I will loose weight in this new year because ' A. I want to look good, B. I'll avoid a lot of health problems which in turn will enhance my abilities to provide for my family and actually enjoy my time with them. It will also open doors to try out new things such as new sports that I wanna play and new dresses that I wanna try but they don't suit me cos of my weight etc etc'

this is just an example and I'm sure one can come up with a much better one, which in turn resonates with the very reason for sticking to that particular goals and give you that extra lil bit of kick to accomplish it.
