What Is Your Own Definition Of A Problem?

To me, a problem simply means a lack of solution.

So, it is just a challenge.

A problem is just an opportunity to learn something new a break through new barriers.

In my opinion a problem should be seen as a learning process.
It starts out as a problem,I look for the answers to it, find them and
      then it becomes a solution.
In life problems are inevitable and unavoidable,it depends on the
persons approach whether they see it as an obstacle or an opportunity.

      Kind regards,

      Mark.

      Great point.

That's why whenever a problem comes out, it's also the time wherein you have to think and make the possible solutions. That way you also are learning new ways to prevent having it again.

I don't want problems. I hate them. I run away from problems.

But I DO love challenges. And challenges need solutions. Yes, I love discovering a solution for a challenge.

Every problem has a solution. My definition of a problem is simply that which requires an expansion of oneself to meet.

Problems mean a solution needs to be solved, more problems, we've got the more solution we learned.

    Just my 2 cents

It's pretty cliche, but I remember once hearing that the Chinese (in one dialect or another) use the same word for problem and they do for opportunity. Or maybe it was crisis and opportunity. Either way, I like to think of that when I have a problem because it helps me clear my mind of negativity.

A problem is an opportunity to grow and develop because we can never actually solve a problem on the same level the problem occurred at.

Heh, if only that were true. Our government, our schools, even we do this all the time. "Solving" problems like global warming with carbon emission trading is a good example of this. We allow companies to sell their unused carbon emissions to other companies or other countries even. That's not solving a solution, it's just allowing us to continue the same amount of polution but distributing the pollution levels equally among companies and countries, lol. Doesn't even matter where it comes from either, even if all the carbon emissions are coming from one locality the air currents distribute it evenly across the globe.

I do know what you mean though awesomepossum. Truly solving a problem requires higher level thinking, but sometimes we "sovle" a problem and call it done, just to realize in a couple years, decades or centuries that we've just created a new problem.

A problem to me is an opportunity to grow. I may not like them sometimes but if they are not dealt with they only compound. In my experience it's best to deal with them as early as possible. I use the old 80/20 rule with problems. Spend 20% of the time on the problem and the other 80% on the solution. This really can help make problems seem much smaller than they really are. Let's face it they will always be there.

For me, a problem is simply something which has not been fixed and there are always solutions to any problems.

Which leads to another point: What is the definition of failure? Since failure is always associated with one succumbing to one's own problems. I believe that you only fail when you give up because if you never stop trying, you always have a chance. Once you stop, you have 0% chance in succeeding..

To me a problem is a pain in the butt. But when you solve the problem you have gained knowledge, and hopefully you will avoid that same problem in the future.

I don't like problems or enjoy them, but then life would be boring if everything went your way.

I love solving "problems" for other people... They become opportunities that can often be lucrative when done right.

Running into road blocks and figuring things out is what life is all about. Nothing comes easy. You learn and grow by the situations that you face.

Behind every problem there is a commitment. It wouldn't be a problem if there is no commitment in the first place.

When face with a problem, stop and ask what your commitment is, than take actions that will forward your commitment.

    Hope this helps =)
