I MADE 9K THIS AM! WRITING FROM A PUB AT 1PM - ALL B/C OF OFFLINE

Well hello ladies and gentlemen.

I'm sitting at the window of a scottish pub right now enjoying a very refreshing pint of Checkvar. If you haven't had it yet, i'd highly recommend it! It's like Stella, but better.

It's windy and rainy and cold outside despite the fact that it's almost summer and I really can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be. Actually, I would appreciate it if one or two of you were here with me to celebrate!

This morning I closed a 3 year contract that netted 9K in profit all because of offline work. It was incredibly easy and took all of 30 minutes of comfortable conversation. It's been my single best day so far.

How did I do it?

Rewind. How did I get to sitting in this bar having a company that is almost self sustaining.

When I first started in IM I looked around and realized that there was everyone & their brother trying to make money online teaching other people how to make money online. Red flags went up and I knew there had to be a better way.

We all have phenomenal skills and the majority of us aren't putting them to good enough use. I've never met a more skilled group of internet savvy entrepreneurs. People would kill for our talent... but NOBODY knows about it because we're all promoting to people online or are scared to visit actual people offline.

Thankfully, I come from a background in sales. I've had to cold call hundreds of numbers, knocked on doors and have basically desensitized myself to the word "NO"... I understand not everybody is in that situation though.

So, in my opinion here is the easiest way to break into the offline market.

Take your skill or talent and figure how you can apply it to an offline business. Is it website creation, traffic generation, product creation? It doesn't matter... they can all be applied to offline businesses.

1 - Post an ad on Monster.com, craigs list or job bank for a commission only sales associate.

2. Interview them. Tell them at the end of the interview that they didn't qualify and thank you for coming out. If they push back and start to qualify themselves again, you know they'll do it in a sale. If they give up and walk away... the same thing will happen. Hire the ones that push back.

3. Give them all the materials they need to do their job and make it as easy as possible for them. Hold them accountable. Get them to contact x # of businesses / week.

4. Give them incentives. This month I'm giving our sales staff a Kodak Zi8 HD Video camera for whoever brings in 3 sales first.

5. Do the work.

It's a very simple process, it's just that the majority of people DO NOT ACT!

You're about 20 minutes away from bringing in a significant amount of $$.

Take action now, don't sit on the sidelines and hopefully you and I will be sharing a brew together in the near future.

Talk soon

Love & all that jazz

- Adam

Great advice! You could write an ebook if you wanted xD
Hehe, naw I realize the irony of advising you to market online when you're trying to teach us about the opportunities of the offline market. Props to you, and I hope you hear more about your successes in the future.

I agree that there a lot of good untapped opportunities in the OFFLINE market while there is cutthroat competition going on in the ONLINE market.

Right on. The offline market is sooo unsaturated and will be for quite some time because you are dead on when you say people just want to sit on their butts and make money instead of getting up and hustling.

Mid size companies are willing to pay big bucks for services many of us can do in our sleeps, why not take advantage of that. We are talking about big contracts with big money for systems we can set up on autopilot. Web 2.0ing companies, seo, setting up ppc campaigns, etc...so much opportunity.

    ...for those willing to hustle

      Hearty congratulations Adam. Sounds cool.

Wish the Indian market was also an interesting one in offline - having interacted with some American offline companies I know that is the goldmine but doing this from India for USA is practically impossible.

By the way, what you said - 9K for a 3 year contract - surely you meant that was the upfront payment? Or was is the total amount prepaid (hardly suppose so)?

In your experience, what are the services that appear to be favorably received by the brick andd mortar businesses? In my perception it is website development (unless that is already done), SEO and autoresponders+mailing list development (automated follow up). I assume that the IVR would be in place and that is not something we need to suggest to them as IM professionals.
