The World's Greatest Teacher

What would it be worth to learn from the world's greatest teacher? (You pick the field of expertise) Someone who could answer any question you had and guide you to the best solution to all your problems.

What if that person gave you permission to contact them 24/7 to discuss your goals and how to reach them with less effort and in half the time?

Finally, what if this great teacher was willing to become your silent partner in any business you wished to pursue (At zero cost to you). Their sole intent being your success.

Well, I'm here to tell you that this person is already in your life. If Socrates were here today I believe he would tell you to look no further than yourself.

I sincerely believe that you have the answers to all you problems and that you know more about how to succeed than most of the gurus combined.

Have you ever noticed that when a friend or a loved one has a problem you can come up with a crystal clear solution to their problem. You can usually show them how they can have their cake and eat it too.

But when you have a problem or obstacle of your own, you seem to be at a loss of what to do?

If you are like me it is because of one of two reasons:

1. You are so emotionally involved in your situation that you can't see or believe in a logical solution.

or

2. You simply haven't taken the time to critically think about your situation.

I recently came across a problem solving/goal reaching method that I learned about years ago. But this time it has really stuck with me. Brain Tracy teaches this method but it's so simple that some of you may already do it.

You simply take 20 minutes or so to write down all of the ways that you can solve your problem or reach your goal. Ideally, you will have over 20 ideas at the end of this exercise. Don't worry about how great the ideas are, just write down as many as you can with the sole requirement that you must write down at least 20 (you will find that your most creative ideas will come after you have written the first 10).

Not every idea will be great or even useful. But, when you are finished you will have more ingenious methods and creative ways to reach your goals or solve your problem faster than you can imagine.

No guru knows as much about your situation and your obstacles as you. I guarantee that if you do this exercise, you will surprise yourself.

The greatest thing I like about this method is that it works for problems/goals no matter how big or small they are.

How can I double the response of my sales letter?
How can I go to Hawaii this year?
How can I double my take home income?
How can I lose 20lbs in the 3 months?
How can I stop an oil spill in the Gulf?
How can I meet the love of my life?
How can I retire in the next 5 years?

and so on...

I know this method is not groundbreaking...but sometimes it is the simple disciplines that make the most impact in our lives.

I like it. Check out Eban Pagan if you dig these principles. Thanks for getting this down and documenting...

    This is a great method.

You are the best guru for you. Others may inspire you but personal development is on you.

An honest Q and A session with yourself is the best way to get to the core of your problems.

I find it helps to set daily or weekly goals. Also helps to organise your thinking. Otherwise you can wallow for days or weeks and not actually get anything done.

Thanks for sharing. How insightful!. It is so true that we are able to solve people's problems but we can't solve our own cos we are too emotionally attached to our own problems. We are too close to our problems.

We search far and wide for a guru but the real guru is within us.

If we look at ourselves with a detached view, we will get a better perspective. When I take a good break, and in the moment of pondering, I hear the inner voice within me whispering to me words of wisdom.

I am not sure if this is the voice of God or me. What it works for me to be quiet and listen to the voice inside me.

Since I'm a bit arrogant, I rather turn to myself than to others already, so I can only agree...

A good teacher are those who persistently teach you even though you don't like it and in the end you learn.
I had a math teacher. She's smart and graduated cum laude.. She had a hard time at first but when she knows us one by one. She was then able to make us of her knowledge to make us learn.

I really can't agree with what has been said, that I am my best teacher. Every person can be my teacher but the best people to learn from are those smarter than me, who have more knowledge and wisdom.

All of us can learn a great deal from those with more experience and I am also firm believer of learning from historical figures. However, I am better equipped to take their wisdom and apply it to my life than they are.

I also believe the the solutions to most of our problems are not found in secrets or complex formulas, just applied common sense. Everyone can master common sense if they take the time to analyze their own goals and problems.

The moment carries the lesson. Rather than look too much outside ourselves, try looking within.

You can learn from yourself first, others, things, situations.....the list is endless but learning is contingent on the supposition that you are a willing learner. This is why personal development starts and ends with you.
