Warriors, where does your health fall in your priority list?

It is really funny how I came about making this thread! I own three websites promoting three of my best products and they are really doing well. Thank God! Three days ago i got really sick; I couldn't even get up from my bed and check my sales summary! That's when I realize how important it is to pay good attention to my health status. I don't know about you, but most marketers like myself, wake up in the morning, brush the teeth, get a cup of coffee and sit down right in front of the computer, 20 minutes later, I get up and grab a bag of chips and soda; am returning back to the computer.

It goes like that, days, weeks, and even months. As time passes by it starts telling on your body, extreme fatigue, headache, and sometimes blurry vision. In my case, it was bad eating habits and lack of proper rest that lead to my break down. I hope my story help rings a bell in your head!! You can change a hard drive, change a motor of car, but you can never change your body's hard drive.

The point of the story is that paying more attention to you clickbank, adsense, paypal, earning rather than paying good attention to your health is not the way to go and eventually would cripple you. Am a typical example, i paid dearly for it! I mean what is the point of having the best selling product and you have a pitiful health status. With a bad health I don't think anyone would be able to book a vacation to the Bahamas, or maybe say Paris.

So, every now and then head to the gym, make sure you don't miss that doctors appointment or book a doctors' appointment. Search the web for informations on how to improve your health. Get tips on how to make simple home remedies that would make you feel stronger and healthier, pharmaceuticals drugs is not the way to go I promise you my friend, herbal medicines are natural; the majority of them have no side effects. This site in particular has extensive information about Herbal medicine, try to visit it because you can find herbal remedies that you could put together with few stuff from you cabinet. This site is really informational, I mean, there are even cures for disease you didn't even know about! Go there and immerse yourself with healthy information!

tell me if you have gone through the same break down, i will love to hear your own story, am just trying to inform people that health is first. If you are sick, you wouldn't be able to make money anymore, neither would you be able to update your site or anything that requires physical movement! I want to hear from you!!!

    Thanks for sharing lucrie,

Health always has to rank at the top.

If you don't have your health, you don't have anything?

It's hard to be happy when you don't have your health
I wouldn't trade my health for all the money in the world.

As important as eating healthy is getting outdoors each day and moving around a bit.

Working at home is great, but I think it requires more self discipline in many ways. Most people can't eat chips and sit around in their underwear all day, but we could if we allow ourselves to. ha ha ha

I am wondering what everyone does for exercise in the winter????

I love to cycle, but in a month or two the roads will be icy...

Great question for alot of fellow east coasters that I know. They all seem to "take a break" when the winter months hit which absolutely kills the momentum they've started to build during the end of the summer.

Then, when the summer months hit again, they spend the majority of that time trying to get back in the exercise groove only allowing for a month in total of diligent exercise.

...They all seem to move up a few clothes sizes every year.

A good thing for me in the winter months is a rebounder. A little trampoline you can get at Wal-Mart for about $40. Excellent. Moves the lymph system, tightens the gut, gets you in shape and all you have to do is jog in place, easy on the knees, can lean it against the wall.

If your hard core IM, you could even listen to your audios while you jog in place.

I actually enjoy doing yardwork now because it's a needed break from staring at a computer and sitting in one place.

        Cheers,

I forgot that I even had a rebounder. Thanks for suggesting that!

I have it in the back of one of my closets... guess it's time to pull it out.

I originally got it to stimulate the lymph system on the suggestion of my naturopathic doctor.

I have an electric treadmill too, but for some reason I really dislike using it, whereas the rebounder I actually enjoyed.

Studies has proven that staying in the same spot for long periods of time will have dramatic effects on your health. Most common is blood clots in the legs. Therefore it is so so very important to atleast get up and move around a little. Walk around your house or your neighborhood and get some fresh air.
It really is essential to your health.
    Great post by the way!!!

I started working at home for my health. I was stuck in a job that was very physically demanding. There was a lot of walking, bending, and heavy lifting and I was working 10 hour+ days.

I felt like it kept me in decent shape but it was too easy taking short cuts and not stretching to save time which was doing a number on my back and legs. I was also driving from location to location so I wasn't eating well. Basically snack stuff that was easy to eat. I felt decent, but I was still losing weight when I really didn't need to. I also didn't have the energy that I needed and I was very stressed.

Since I've been working from home I've gotten in a good routine. Obviously, I sit a lot but I make it a habit to take scheduled breaks. I'll clean up around the house, take the dog for a walk, eat a good lunch, play some video games or work on my music. Stuff that gets me away from the computer at regular intervals.

I feel 100% better from when I was busting my butt. I've gained some weight, good weight, and I pay attention to my health much more. I also have more quality time to work on my music which is my real passion. Starting to work from home was the best thing I could have done for myself. I only hope I can maintain this type of lifestyle and help other people find it.

I think the key to having a well balanced life is to have Harmonic Wealth, where you learn to enjoy a life of harmony in the five key areas of your life: financial, relational, mental, physical and spiritual. Thus, making your health a priority as well. I make exercising on my Total Gym as much of a priority as I do of checking my Paypal account and checking my emails. I try as well to eat right and get my beauty rest. But most important I take time to spend with the people in my life that mean the most to me, even if it's going down the street to see my 2 grandbabies even for a quick visit. The joy that I get from that keeps me smiling the rest of the day.

Getting plenty of sleep is definitely the key to staying healthy. I used to get 6 hrs of sleep daily, with 7 hours being good. Now I have been getting 8 hours, and my body does poorly on any less! I do not think this is necessarily bad tho, and I notice that I usually am not as sick as often anymore.

5 Tips to Help You Sleep Better

If you have been dealing with sleeplessness and insomnia, you no doubt realize that it is one of the more frustrating things that we might have to go through. Not only does it keep you up at night, it affects you throughout the entire day. Most of us tend to walk around in a fog and we may find that we are not very patient whenever it comes to dealing with problems in people. If you would like to be able to get some sleep, here are five different things that you can do which may help.

The first thing that you can try is taking a warm bath before going to bed. Adding a little bit of aromatherapy to the bath and making sure that you are in a relaxed environment will also help quite a bit. Make sure that you limit the amount of time that you are in the tub, however, because taking a warm bath for too long may actually exhaust your body and keep you from sleeping well.

You could also try eating a bedtime snack. Be careful not to eat too much or to eat the wrong kinds of things because these may disrupt your sleep instead of helping it. Try eating something light, such as bread or fruit, your body will not have to go through a long digestive process.

Exercise can also do an excellent job of helping you to sleep better at night. You should make sure that you are exercising earlier in the day so that you do not raise your adrenaline levels before going to sleep. It releases serotonin into your system which helps to cheer you up. If stress is the culprit of your sleeplessness, exercise may be able to help quite a bit.

You should also try taking some melatonin. This is a naturally occurring hormone in our system which regulates our internal clock. If you do not want to take it as a supplement, try drinking a warm glass of milk which will help to release melatonin naturally into your system.

Finally, you should banish the television set, the dog and anybody that snores from your sleeping environment. The last thing that you need to deal with is any kind of noise during the night. Make sure that your environment is as quiet as possible and you would be surprised with how much of a difference this will make in your sleeping pattern.

These are some awesome tips and many that I recommend! One thing that I would add is stressing that the bedroom is a room primarily for sleeping. If you perceive your room as a place for sleeping, you'll find it easier to sleep, whereas if it is also your office and entertainment room, you're going to find more distractions. I take this method to heart and it works wonders!

Far be it for me to be crass... but I assure you that there are other uses for the bedroom that actually do count as exercise and will help you sleep better too!

I sleep like a baby every single night!

PS- If your lifestyle will warrant it, avoid an alarm clock. If you need to be up by a certain time each day, figure out when you need to go to sleep and you'll find that if you are sleeping enough you will wake up naturally at the same time each morning, without the startling jolt of an alarm clock.

Warriors, do you agree with his comment? If so, tell me things that you do in your bedroom that do or don't inhibit you from sleep.

Um he is talking bout practising to make babies

unless I am on the wrong planet

As far as my health goes, well let me confirm the suggestion that we all look after it by telling you that I have for the past 10 years, worked at least 12 hours a day (sometimes 7 days a week), I drink lots of coffee, and I smoke. I sleep on average 4-6 hours a day if I am lucky, I live alone, and I love red meat. The only excercise I get is at work and the odd walk on the beach, and I have never weighed any more than 64kg.

I dont get colds, flu, or any other day to day symptom. In fact until I tore my shoulder tendon earlier this year and then developed tennis elbow in the other arm because of repetitive actions (to replace the limited capacity I had in the busted shoulder), I really had no significent problems.

But guess what - I have been diagnosed with depression! Go figure

    Health = Priceless

    Right on, Lucrie

I mean my kids are tops in my life. But, wait, if we're not healthy then somethings really wrong.

Health has to be way, way up there.

Some current theories that I aspire too seem to indicate that virtually all (non-genetic) disease has stress as a major component.

You ask a very important question. Health should be among the top 5 of personal success. It may move among the ranking as situation changes.

Define your personal success goal and see where does health stands in the priority list.

Happy goal setting to all the readers.

Excluding loved ones (family members, etc) and speaking only about your own personal experience in the world, I would like to know what things anyone values more than their health?

If it should be "among the top 5", what would you put above your own health?

I remember reading once about a survey done on Olympic athletes that asked them if they would take a substance that would guarantee them the gold medal, but would more than likely kill them within five years, and the report went on to say that 35% of those questioned admitted that they would take the substance.

So for those people, winning a gold medal would be ranked higher than their own health and safety.

I Agree with you lucrie. No matter whichever way you see it, Health is number one priority for everyone, even they don't realize it.

My daily mantra is "HEALTH, WEALTH, SUCCESS, HAPPINESS and PEACE". I recite it when I wake up, before I go to bed and many times in between whenever my inner voice reminds me to recite it.

I also agree with you about natural medicine. But teaching body and mind to self-heal is ultimate skill people have to teach themselves to get whatever they want in life.

"HEALTH, WEALTH, SUCCESS, HAPPINESS and PEACE" to you all.

Herbs for your aches and pains

There are so many aches and pains that are affecting us today. Many of us are having a real problem finding something to make them go away. This is not always easy and you may have to do some work to find what you need. You will want to make the right choices for your body so that you are able to feel your best and do the things that you want.

There are many that believe that herbs are the best choice for aches and pains. You will want to think about what you will want for your own treatment and go from there. There are many forms of pain medications that people have to take on a daily basis to make the pain stop and to get them feeling better. However, there are some that do not like the way that the pain medications make them feel and they may not want to take them all the time.

For these reasons, many are turning to the help of herbs. These are a great choice for anyone that wants to feel better and get back on track. Many people are looking for something to help them do the things that they used to without feeling groggy and tired all the time. Pain medications can do this to you but herbal treatments will do the opposite. You can get more energy from some of the herbs that you take for pain.

There are many forms of pills and liquid that you can take to help with your aches and pains. However, there are some forms of food that can help too. You can work with your herbal store to find out what will be best for you and your situation. Once you know what you should be taking and eating, you will probably start to see the signs of healing that you are looking for.

Many times you will be able to find herbal treatments in the form of creams. You will be able to rub these creams on your body and make the aches and pains go away. You should read the instructions and follow them. Once you have the right method down, you should be able to feel better in a short amount of time. You will not have to worry about feeling the effects that many muscles and joints can give you when the weather is cold or you have done any type of physical work.

You may not see the positive effects right away, but with a little bit of time, you will notice the difference. You will start to move better and a lot easier without pain. You will not have to deal with the harsh medications that many doctors prescribe and this will be something that is well worth the herbal treatments that you buy.

      Hi Mavies:

      Excellent message.

First, like others have said - our "health" is our most precious asset. Nothing is more important.

Next to our Maker - our wellness - and what we do to protect it - will pretty much dictate our level of success and accomplishment in this life.

If we are strong - physically, mentally and spiritually - we will be able to not only cope with life's challenges - but excel far better at what we do.

      Sincerely / Peter A.

Hi there, great post indeed! Health, fitness, and nutrition are of utmost importance to me in my daily life. Sometimes it takes something tragic or difficult for us to realize this, either witnessing it in others, or experiencing something difficult ourselves.

Sometimes it takes one healthy, loving person to motivate you to take care of your own health. This was the case for me, and thanks to her, I have never lost my commitment to health, fitness, and nutrition and never will.

I am very healthy and I owe this to regular workouts and proper nutrition, although my grocery bill from all this organic stuff is getting big! You have to make time for these things, indoors and out, and realize the importance of a healthy diet. I am grateful for my health and what I am able to do each and every day.

In the winter, skating, skiing, swimming, indoor and outdoor running and biking and walking are all options. I heard that an hour of walking per day is better than going to the gym for a workout 3x per week, and that regular physical activity can reduce the effects of aging!

It's very easy to get stuck in front of the computer when you have an online business. I am guilty of this as well and need a good neck massage!! That's next on my list of healthy things to do!!

I value my health very high , it made me change my diet ( I'm a vegetarian and stay away from egg yolks ) and I started doing yoga 3 years ago. i drink juices with Spirolina and **** in it and i always loved to hike and play a lot. That keeps you young and healthy. I don't like doctors and so I learned to take care of my body so I can enjoy life for ever.

This is a great topic because without health you can't enjoy life, can you?

I have a mantra I say every morning and every night..."I am happy, healthy and wealthy."

so health is in the top 3 for me. I recently started my life over again, new home, etc...etc..and a friend bought me a treadmill as a house-warming gift. So now I have no excuses. I get outside at least once a day, and since our home has 3 floors, I walk up and down stairs a lot. But I still spend far too much time in front of this machine and hope one day to make enough passive income so that I can spend less time in front of the computer and more time doing things I love.

I'm 23 and I'm definitely having great concern for my health. I started regulating my diet, more exercise, no more vices (I don't smoke, and I try to drink not as much as before), and the only thing I'm having trouble is sleeping well because of work, but I know I'm bound to improve on that aspect. So health is definitely a top priority for me..

    Herbal sleep remedy
There are quite a few people that have a hard time falling asleep. They may find it difficult to get to sleep even though they are very tired and need to get rest. This can be very difficult for people to deal with and it may be a disrupting thing that can cause a lot of problems in one's life.
Many do not like to take the harsh medications that are prescribed for sleeping problems. They do not like the way that they feel when they are taking them. Sometimes, people can also get addicted to the sleeping pills and medicines that are on the market today. There are herbal sleeping treatments that can help a person rest and relax, as they should.
Some wander if the herbal treatments for sleeping are safe. The answer to this question is usually. Most people have nothing to worry about when they are taking an herbal sleeping aid. If a person is healthy and not taking any other medications that could interfere with the herbs, there are usually no problems at all.

Sleeping is important, fatigue commense once you try avoiding it and then you do rubish...

Herbal remedies are a lot safer than the other medications that are prescribed by doctors for sleeping problems. Many do not feel safe when they are taking pills because they feel groggy or out of it after they wake up. With the herbal remedies, you will feel as if you had a great nights rest and you will be ready to take on the next day ahead of you.
However, if you are pregnant or you are breast-feeding you should stay away from any type of sleeping aid including herbal help. You should not take anything that may compromise the health of your child. You need to find other methods at this point to help you relax and get the sleep that you need. You may want to take a long hot bath or have a hot cup of chamomile tea. These are great ways to get rest and sleep when you are not getting what you need and are under the above conditions.
Many people do love the way that herbal treatments help them sleep. You can get them in the form of a pill, liquid or even in teas. Teas are a great seller for women. They love to sit and relax with a great cup of hot tea that will help them fall asleep easier and safely. You will love the fact that the taste is great and you will feel energized when you wake up as well. Herbal teas are a great gift idea for anyone that needs to relax and feel good.
As with anything, you should consult with your doctor first to make sure that the herbal treatment are safe for you to take with any conditions that you may have.

Good eating habits, exercise, vitamins are all good but the most important is rest. people don't get enough these days and the body needs to recover.

Without rest the body gets run down and you are open to getting sick a lot more easily.

The best way is to be regular in your sleeping habits go to sleep and wake up at the same time. Not always easy but over time like with any habit it should get easier.

    hey

I always belived that there are 3 things in life that we ALWAYS have to take care of:-

    HEALTH.
    WEALTH.
    RELATIONSHIP.

Now i wont claim that i am on top of all of them, however i am always working on improving these 3 things in my life.

For relationship, im a dating coach and been helping guys about dating for nearly 3 years. Its a bit like Eben pegan's stuff (if you want to know more then contact me).

For wealth, trying to set up some online business now, already got offline business as we are manufacturer of jeans in asia.

For health, been doing a lot. Last year, i worked my ass off to lose weight. Infact i lost about 30kg in total, the avatar picture is my current picture. Not only that, i am preparing to enter the Mens health cover model contest as well. While i was doing all these, i also became a personal trainer and made a rapid physical transformation on other people as well.

So if any one here wants any health or diet advice then feel free to contact me, i will gladly help.

When you are working on your health, dont forget the DIET, as your body transformation depends 70% on your diet. YES, you heard it right, 70% on diet, 20% on workout and 10% on supplements.

As for rest, aim for atleast 6 hours of sleep. Since i workout about 4-5 times a week hence i sleep around 8 hours.

For sleeping, if you are taking zinc and magnesium then your testosterone will go up, which will result in SMOOTH SLEEP. However working out usually sorts all the sleeping problems out. So if you are having sleeping problem then go to gym, and make sure you are not taking any solid protein 2 hours before bed time.

    Take care.

Health for me is number 1!

Without good health, you can't truly enjoy anything in life.

You just can't stay happy if you're getting sick all the time and have low energy level.

        Hi guys,

I love this thread because is so true that sometimes we are so in love with our business and sitting in front of the computer for as long as we can, that we don't think our health will suffer.

I try my best to go to the doctor on an annual basis, have all tests done, and take good vitamins every day. Also I do my best to eat healthy; however, I am not a vegetarian or anything like that. I think that just a healthy variety, including fruits and vegetables is good enough; that's only my personal opinion of course.

  • It's a great point because we'd all say that health is important. But truth is we probably don't take it seriously until something goes wrong and that can sometimes be too late.

Can I add sitting around in coffee shops taking in caffeine while working with the laptop to the list of bad habits?

Seems to me it's a good idea to build some time into your daily schedule to take care of your body - as well as making sure you get up from your computer regularly.

    Best regards

    Robert

It's funny that I'm reading this message now. I'm feeling sick after weeks of going to bed very late because I want to have my first successful campaign within a month. What's the point! Now I have to slow down anyway... Thanks for the reminder Lucrie.

I get called a "Health Freak" and a "Food Nazi". I haven't always been that way, and personally I take those names as compliments >

I used to work in not one, but TWO fast food restaurants at the same time. Having round-the-clock access to fried (and FREE) food really does take its toll on you eventually. Getting rid of both jobs was probably the best thing I did for my health, then of course, taking the time to eat right and exercise. I can honestly say, I've had enough of that crap to last a lifetime, and I have no desire to go back to those old ways.

Occasionally I may get a steak, and eat it rare... but with a generous side of veggies and fruit for dessert

My health is one of my number one priorities. I notice a significant difference in how I feel when I eat healthy and nutritious foods, vs foods that don't give my body the nutrients it needs, and contain un needed preservatives and an excess amount of sugar.

Without true health, it can be very hard to enjoy all that life has to offer, and enjoy our wealth which we have created for ourselves.

This is a unique posting because I provide medical and dental benefits and its so surprising to me, how many business professionals don't bother to consider their health. They make good money marketing online and offline, but they don't think for a second about their health. I do recommend that every business professional get an annual check up and protect their families also. It's no fun when you work hours and hours on your business, just to find out that you have cancer or some other serious disease that's been there all along. Also, because you were more wrapped up in how much money you were making. I sometimes put in my ad subject lines, "You make good money, be around to enjoy it!

    Without your health, you die.

I am dealing with CFS on a daily basis so my health MUST be at the top of MY list, or I WILL go backwards from where I am now. I have been better, but, I also have been far, far worse.

If anyone is interested in enquiring of me regarding any Alternative Therapies, you are most welcome to send me a serious PM.

    Great thread, Lucrie!

I'm just starting out in IM and combining it with another home based business I run, but I've realised recently that since I've been sat at home all day trying to make a go of it I've let my health go and I'm trying to get back on top of it.

Health is always #1 - or at least, it should be! If you don't have your health you don't have anything. I can't afford gym memberships or anything like that at the moment, so I'm just trying to eat sensibly and not snack between meals (this is the bit I'm finding the toughest!). I also make sure I get out of the house for at least an hour every day by going for a walk/run in my local neighbourhood, and I regularly get up from my desk to do household chores to keep a bit more active. Also - last year I bought a Nintendo Wii with a Wii Fit board... I hadn't used it for ages but since starting to work from home I've gotten it back out and I try to use it for at least half an hour every day (when I don't get too carried away with my work!). I love it, even though I was skeptical at first - the next day I can feel the workout it gives me because I make sure I challenge myself, and I'm starting to see the difference!

Well unfortunately, I feel guilty about that. Because sometimes I really forgot to watch my health, and my eating habits. Sometimes I fail to eat on time due to some work, and sometimes what I eat was unhealthy. Well, what you said is kinda alarming. And this herbal medicines would help.

Health has to be the number 1 priority for everyone, what good is anything else if you're too sick to enjoy it:

      Health
      Spirituality
      Family+ Friends
      Finance

Ditto on what many people have mentioned that health is #1 priority. IMHO, without health, nothing else can work.

A little over year ago, we bought one of those home gyms. And specifically make time 4-7 times a week to fit in a workout. It was a little rough at first as is building any habit. And the results have been more than worth the time invested.

        Great post!

    • Lucie, first, let me thank you for posting this. I read your story and let me tell you that running a business - no matter how small it is - requires you to take a look at your priorities in life. I learned that the hard way, here's my story:

My business is my life. Or, so I thought. I was determined to make it a success that I said, "The tougher, the better. At least when I hit rock bottom, I know what to do." So I tried hard every single day, making sure that I can't miss a detail. And, for a writer, details mean everything. I worked to please my clients. And, because my clients live halfway around the globe, I changed my schedule. I literally make days to nights. I live differently. Even if I live with my parents (yes, we Asians love to make sure that the family stay together), it is as if they live with a stranger.

Then, everything turned for the worse. My body gave up. I became sick, unable to concentrate and write. Instead of listening, I became committed to working harder. Pushing myself to the limits. I simply thought, "My mind is stronger." And, that's where I understand the true meaning of limits - and , that the body can only take so much.

Today, I am hoping I know better. I prioritize health and take care of my body. Because it deserves only better.

Once when I was in my late 20's, I was so stressed at my job and my back muscles were so tense, that when I rolled over in bed to turn off the alarm, I dislocated my shoulder. I was a real wake up call! You only get one body and you have to treat it right: eat right, exercise regularly, get plenty of rest - and leave your work troubles at work.

Thanks Mavis, good to be reminded of priorities from time to time. Health, family, business are definately mine. Having said that it's sometimes a struggle to break away from the computer.

Next time I'm in that position I'll think of your post.
