It's been 2 years... But i finally made did it!

Alright so for the past 2 years i have tried just about EVERYTHING.

I promoted clickbank products (everything from grav 600's to grav 1's), cpa offers, tried to flip websites....

I've been through aweber, get response and imnica.

I've created niche blogs, squidoo lens's, over 100 ezine articles, hub pages, (and about 50 more social media sites.)

I've driven traffic through facebook, myspace, link'din, digg, youtube, and twitter.

Used ppc, ppv, seo,

AND JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING INBETWEEN and made nearly NOTHING (actually lost because i spent more on advertising then i made)

**** UNTIL ****

About a week ago when i was going through old posts on this forum I saw something that said "stop doing all the crap that the guru's say, not everyone uses youtube the same way, no one builds squidoo lens's the same way, but most of all NO ONE THINKS THE SAME WAY." So i took a step back and thought of all the things that actually worked for me. (which include youtube, twitter and some specific niche blogs)

And i said, why don't i combine these things...

So i did. And the last 4 days i have averaged 1.04$ each day. That money is not even enough to cover my cup of coffee each day. But to me it's the biggest amount of money in the world.

I am more excited now then i have been in 2 years for this. And i promise in 1 year from now I will be making 100x that a day.

The moral of my story is,

Sometimes it's hard to see what works in the sea of crap that everyone is putting out (not saying everything is crap don't get at me). You have to take a step back and see WHAT WORKS FOR YOU!

Thanks for reading -Matt

Ps. If you want to know what i did, I am monitizing a blog with cpalead and driving traffic through youtube and twitter.

    Hi Matt,

Congrats! It's nice to see results and know that your hard work was the cause of them.

Plenty of information and misinformation on the web. It takes time to sift through the hype but when you do positive results usually reveal themselves quickly.

    You make some great points.

Internet marketing is a jungle. You need to weed through the sea of information, crap, hype, different directions you can take, emotions, etc. There is a lot to worry about and a lot to learn. There is a lot of opportunity but the jungle is thick and unforgiving at first.

BUT, as you said, put on your hiking boots and armed with the right information, its easy to cut through the jungle and end at the pot of gold on the other side. Its so funny to me because all the newbies out there know what they have to do, they hear it on a daily basis...they need to focus, not to buy products, to stick with one direction, etc etc but most let their emotions, not their logic guide them through the jungle.

Personally, I rely on my work ethic, creativity and logic. Relying on your emotions can be a dangerous and ineffective venture within IM

Your earnings may seem small but they are significant in terms of milestone achievement. If you can make $1, you can make $1000. I found that making that first $1 was much harder than making that first $1000 once the first dollar was earned.

Its also the type of business where profits and earnings can grow exponentially. With proper outsourcing, rinse and repeating, scaling, etc, you can turn that $1 into something pretty darn significant. That is the brilliance of the internet, the scale, the magnitude, the size. If you find something that works on a small scale, there is undoutedly a way to scale the effort and thus scale the profits.

best of luck, and of course, CONGRATS

Sorry man, but this is really, really sad.

You've dedicated two years of your life and god knows how many hours... and your celebrating because you're now making a buck a day?

And your next big goal is to be making $100 a day a year from now?

Dude... when you first got started in this... if there was a big sign on the front of WF that said, "Bust your ass working more than full-time hours for the next three years of your life and if your lucky, eventually you might make $100 a day!" would you even get started?

I don't know you from Adam, and from your post I can only guess how many hundreds (or thousands) of hours you spent so far, but I can tell you that your time and effort are worth much, much more than this payout you're so proud of.

Change your mindset and set some much higher goals. For what you're giving of yourself, you owe it to yourself to ask for more.

I got started in IM a little over a year ago. I created a product that I'm selling for $127 and my goal was to make at least 3 sales a day by Dec. '09.

Last week I made 3 sales total. I'm frustrated and stressed, but I keep plugging away because there's still so much to learn and so much more work I have to do to reach my first goal of 3 sales a day.

But look at where we're at. You're celebrating your $1 a day and I'm frustrated because the $381 I made last week is so far away from where I need to be.

I GUARANTEE that I'm no smarter than you and I'm sure you worked just as hard as I have, if not more so.

It's all a matter of what we set in our minds as to what we want to accomplish.

Ask Life for a penny, and that's what you'll get.

    Hi Matt,

Good to see you are getting success after 2 years ... I'd say that instead of trying all different things, just concentrate on few things - but make sure that you are not putting all your eggs in one basket.

And, don't outsource blindly - first learn the concepts and try to see for yourself what works. For example I have seen people complaining that their websites do not rank even after outsourcing various types of linkbuilding - when I checked most of them did not know simple concepts about keyword research, what keywords to target for new sites, how to choose domain names, and how to use anchor texts in backlinks.

    Good luck!

It is REFRESHING to hear about people who are making legitimate success. It's almost sickening to hear about the people who jam that 1000$ your first week drivel down your throat when you know they aren't even doing it themselves.

Good for you, Matt, and you're right on course when you realise that it's your own ideas and experience - that 'unique twist' you put on things - that leads to personal success.

    Why?

Because the kick you get out of that will propel you to dream up even bigger and better stuff. Before you know it, that $1.04 WILL have turned into $100...$1000....but it's up to you to keep pushing and creating towards that.

Given your attitude, it sounds like you will and I wish you the very best of luck because you deserve it. Looking forward to hearing about that big payday!

This line stood out to me...you're right. Never thought of it that way, very eye opening.

I actually used to believe I needed a blueprint. One that would lay everything out for me in a specific, detailed order. I used to believe that if I would only diverge from the blueprint, I would fail.
Ofcourse that belief has diminished since then... I really think marketing requires being creative, the willingness to take risks and thinking outside the box. You just have to try and implement new things and always keep looking for new ways to expand your online business. There is really no right or wrong way to do it. You shouldn't stick to one blueprint, but do what you think will work.

So congrats on coming out the otherside.. Alot of people dont. They simply give up.

Keep it up! Every little bit adds to the bottom line.
Don't think everyone here just whistles and makes money.
The truth hurts. It can take a long time.
Most of us didn't quit our day jobs right away.

One big secret is that if you have had a decent website for a couple of
years, it may just now come into its own. Most of us can't make
    a wikipedia overnight.

If $1 a day is good, no reason why you can't get that to $2 a day.
Then it steamrolls. Success breeds success.

But in regard to some comments. There is no shame in quitting either.
You have to know when to say when.
