      Correctumundo!

There's nothing like that feeling of inner peace, which beats the crap out of money, yet leads to money eventually.

...That's what it's been like for me anyway.

Thanks Peter! Success can be defined in many aspects and not just a single entity. Ralph W Emerson summed it up beautifully. Thanks for pointing this out.
I asked my kid the same question, she said success to her is to win the next match. So success could well be a journey and not a destination itself.
How many of you out them actually stop the pursuit you reach your goals?

        Success equals:

        1. Having to earn money huge amount of money without leaving home
        2. Being able to spend time with my family while working
        3. Knowing how to live a well-balanced life despite the huge amount of earnings you get from working online.
        4. Self growth
        5. Meeting different people from different parts of the world, knowing what their culture is, and sharing what you have to offer.

        Kind regards,

      • Great thread! Success to me has changed over the years. It used to be having certain things - like my own (working) car, a house, a high paying job, etc. But now success means being content and secure and having what I need when I need it. It means being happy and knowing that my life is being lived to the fullest -- not wasting time!

In part, yes. Thanks to people like Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, Farrah Gray and Tim Ferriss I've been able to hone in on what exactly I want to do. I love taking my experiences-how I have reacted to them and "re-packaging" them so that other people can learn. My focus is on character and self-improvement.

It took me a long time to figure this out...a lot of reading, critical thinking and even re-reading many books. The "how" part you mention is really the scariest part though. I rest my mind by reminding myself that by pursuing the "inner peace, passion and joy...the out things will appear..."

Creating a "value-added" experience for others. I think you're spot on, at least with respect to trying to always give more than you get, and creating value in everyone's lives around you, be it by helping, encouraging, sending a kind word... so many ways...

And that's something that has really changed me over the last year. I really thought my success would be defined as a big house with 3-4 cars, etc.
      -------
My view on success today is in relation to what I do every day. If I accomplish the things I see myself doing in my ideal life-style each day, then those days present themselves as being success to me, and ultimately making me feel successful. It's all about the journey.

The only way that I can be sure to be successful is to imagine myself in 5-10 years with my dream life:

      Working out every day
      Take fun family vacations
Have quality time with my wife...etc. etc.

Taking the first one (Working out), what would have I to do to get to working out every day? How about working out every second day?

What would I have to do to get to working out every second day? I'd say working out twice a week. How do I get to that? Train myself to working out on the floor in my mini-appt. If I can do that for 2 months then I'd say I'm ready for a gym membership.

You guys are right about starting with small steps...it's really the collection of all the small mini quests you do along the way that lead up to success.

Hi, I think success is when you are finally at peace. When you can finally look life in the eye, and it doesn't matter what happens - you are at peace. You are happy and living in the moment, not in the past, not the future, but in that moment in time.

When you really connect like that, that is success to me.

You offer a different perspective here on success. Yes, indeed success is relative and should be measure based on one own standard. Comparison will only leads to unhappiness and the elusiveness of one's success.

I measure success on daily basis or weekly basis. If I market a product or participate in a new launch, I generally give myself goals. When i reach these goals it's a level of success. I then restructure the goals and start over.

I also look at what I have, time, energy and feelings. If i enjoy what i do, the time I spend, and take Vacations when i want, then I have a different level of success. oh yeah and making my wife happy.

I honestly have to say that your first one: Making a lot of money without hardworking.. To me that ISN'T success. I guarantee you that if you talked to anyone who considers them themselves successful, they'll tell you that they did it through perseverance, determination, and hard work. To sit back and hope that you'll find some secret out there that will deliver buckets of cash to you without even getting your hands dirty is the most failure-oriented idea one can have.

It is difficult to define success. What success is to me, may be different to others. So, success, as far as I am concerned, is to be able to do what I like, something that gives me mental solace, and at the same time not hurting others, need not be materialistic, yet I should be able to spend each day with a satisfaction that the day has gone according to my plan and to my satisfaction. Then I might call my life a success!!

Success is NOT acquired by given. To be given the success requires one to look at things from another perspective, ie focus on the success of others first. Success may not even be tangible as success can exist in a state of mind.

Good question! Success to me is having the choice to do what I want and being able to give back to the community/society.

So I guess it means financial freedom (in my view from multiple sources - such as the Internet : )). It means have choice over what I do in the day and knowing that when I work I am responsible for the results and the payback. It means giving back to the community - actively and through sponsorship (eg I want to be able to sponsor some places at Outward Bound. It means a family.

To me success is complete autonomy over my life. I have the freedom to not work if I don`t want to and still get paid, and while I don`t expect completely passive income I do have the ability to take days off whenever I want or take a vacation whenever I want. I have the freedom to work wherever I want, so if I want to visit my family in Canada I can do that without asking for permission from a boss. I have the time to pursue my hobbies or new busines ventures to whatever extent I wish, while still living off of income from my projects already in motion.

      Freedom, baby!

Well, success to me is just simply the ability to be your own boss and have an income that allows you to do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it. Basicaly the abililty to sit on your but all day long and not answer to anyone because i would be the boss

And yes, of course we can't forget family and friends that you can share your success with Also tithing/sowing to every place i can because
that is just how it should be And your supposed to give anyways because it's God's money. (Every single thing that exists is his because he created it.) And when you do give, God gives back to you the money multiplied for helping others.
And lastly, once you do give, it takes time before you receive back from God.
It's not going to come back to you when you want it, it's going to happen when the time is right and then God will provide it to you.

I've done it, and it does work
        Patience is a must

Success is being able to create a strategy and execute it. It involves, going through any obstacles on your journey to achieve your objective. Once you accomplish that objective then you've succeeded.

Success has nothing to do with how many hours you ahve worked. You can work 12 hours or 5 hours or 2 hours, it's up to each individual. how many hours you put don't matter, but the fact that you achieve your objectives is what matters.

On the other hand peace and happiness are totally different from success. There are successful people in other aspects of life whether it is raising good children, playing a sport, etc but they are not happy and don't have peace.

They are still successful in that particular aspect of they life, but are not happy. Also remember there is Total Life Success which means you are successful in every aspect of your life, ie your healthy, relationships, spirituality, mind, business, wealth, social life, etc

So there are various stages of success.

    Hi Warriors,

The top 7 definitions of success among the many feedbacks I received are ranked as follows:

[1] Freedom to do my own things
    [2] Be happy
[3] Sense of accomplishment, eg completing a project
[4] Financial freedom , ie no worries about bills, etc
    [5] Helping someone
[6] Bring a smile to someone
[7] Feeling of peace with oneself

As success is a journey and not a destination, look around and see where you can influence in these areas.

Success to me would be happiness.

Happiness to me would be to make full-time income from the internet, and thus be able to work from anywhere in the world and travel as much as I like.

I have not yet reached success by this barometer.

    Success to me

Is understanding that "Inner Wealth", is greater than "Outer Riches"
Its more important "to strive not to be a person of success"
but strive to be a person of great value

What I mean by this is that our significance the true feeling of joy which I believe is our greatest wealth comes from the state of our heart, true success is reflected from the feelings of significance that we feel in side our hearts

I suppose one definition of success could be when you have absolutely nothing yet are still happy, content, and grateful just to be part of this wonderful experience.

Sometimes when I'm not happy about something which is happening in my life I don't realize how lucky I am. I liked the part at the end of American Beauty where the lead character talked about his life and what he thought about it.

Success simply put, is being able to achieve a goal, any goal. Whether its to be rich, to be famous or what not.

With that said, it is important then to primarily have a goal in order to be successful.

Great question! Success to me is the accomplishment of a worthwhile goal or purpose that you have chosen for yourself. It could be something different for everybody.

If you find yourself frustrated while working to achieve your goal, it is usually because you are not making progress towards achieving it. I have found that daily disciplines or activities are the key to success and being consistent.

It is easier to achieve small successes than score one big success.
For me , if I breakdown the tasks into small bits and accomplished them, then the accumulation will lead to the final completion and success. This applies to many self-made millionaires unless you happen to strike the grand lottery.
How true is this to you?

Success is celebrated differently even though the reward is the same. Take for example, if a team wins against a tougher opponent compared to the victory against one that is at the bottom of the league. There is a tendency to celebrate the 'greater' success of the former even though the points awarded are the same.

Do you feel the same? And do you think that this is normal?

For me, I feel that we short change ourselves by being bias in the way we view success.

    Give me your thoughts.

In my heart I know success means the pursuit of your goals and intentions. However, it doesn't feel like it sometimes. So, with that said, success to me means doing what you love and making a living at it. Along with being in good health. And having the love and respect from friends and family. And being able to make positive contributions to society. And much much more.

To me, Success is not Hapiness, nor it is Freedom...those are related but different. We all know people who are very successful but live deeply unsatisfied lives, or are slaves to their Business, their work or even their money...

Success for me is following the Journey that leads to my True Goals and Wants in Life, accomplishing things that move me closer to my Vision and my Dream Life, growing myself..

I think that's Earl Nightingale who defined success as the "progressive realisation of a worthy ideal" (maybe I'm wrong on this, please correct me if you know the true statement)

What is important is not the goal, but the journey. If you focus only on the finish line and don't take the time to enjoy the travel, you're going to wake up, some day, and feel a deep void inside of you...

I wish you all the best!

      Damien

Making enough money to support family, being happy with what you do, *not* getting too greedy, so on. Personally I won't be successful until I can accomplish that and support a few causes I like (more than a few bucks I mean), after taxes - after tithing - & after caring for my family.

"Success" is pretty broad and I don't believe many people will have 1 definition of it.
