To become great in whatever endeavor you choose entails sacrifice.

When I use the word sacrifice I think of Leland Val Vandewall's definition:

"Sacrifice is releasing something of a lower nature to make room for something of a higher nature."

Be excited about where you're headed and you won't care about what you are giving up.

Your choices won't be popular with people around you. Especially your family. Most will think that you're a dreamer. The ones who REALLY don't understand what you're doing will think that you're foolish or reckless.

People close to you won't understand someone who lives a life of purpose. They will give you heck for never going out. They wonder why you won't take a break.

What they haven't realized is that you have a purpose in life. You have drive, the extra gear that all have but few use. You know why you're breathing and every minute is dedicated to your definite major purpose. Anything not purposeful is pointless and ignored.

Very good points. It's the skepticism, it's people saying you're crazy and reckless, and people who won't understand what it is to move with a definite direction, that invariably stop people from getting what they want. I run, well, we run into those kinds of things so often! What helps me is knowing that there's only about 5 % of people with a definite chief aim, that know the beauty and the results in sacrifice and that will encourage others to line drive to their goals, and that I need to continue to associate with those 5%. Awesome post.

I relate in my offline life, for the past 20 years I have taken a back seat to my work as has my family and friends, basically my life has been pretty much on hold and success is here, finally.

Now, my wife who has sacrificed time with me and accepted it without complaining, now has Pancreatic cancer and is dying. We can see light at the end of the tunnell and hopes to retire in about 5 years ( I am now 47 ) and it does not matter anymore.

Not trying to take the wind out of your sails BUT, in the end, none of it matters. All the money and success in the world is not able to help us........was it worth it ?

    Best wishes,

I think after initial days of working very hard, which is must, one must learn to delegate not only work but also decision making especially if one is an entrepreneur.Promote your self in the real sense of word.
You do not need to burn mid night oil after a point.work smart and create a harmonious balance between your work life and family.

Your message is populated with people. Well, It's difficult to judge people around you, they may know how serious you're with regards to your purpose in life but they like to pull you legs 'crab mentality'. And, some people around you knows your major purpose but stops you because they think you've not made a smart choice and some just don't want to see you prosper. In all these cases, it's your choice to judge them, listen them or disregard them. Time is an essential element for doing anything and if people are trying to rob you off your time then it also means they're robbing you off your dreams. And, I like the sacrifice quote but many trade lower with higher -- you know the instant gratification tendency.

My pleasure Paul, thanks for stopping by.

It's one of my faves. Focuses less on what we're giving up and more on where we're headed.

Success and Failure is one of the same. We all need both. Its the yin and the yang of life. Success takes time and failure happens sometimes instantly. But so does success. It's just about enjoying the journey to your destination which makes you great.

Not being happy once you get there. If thats the case. You'll never get there.

    Why?

Because your waiting for an outside circumstance to make you happy. You can only be happy now. And then success will find its way to you. It always has and will always be this way.

    Cheers to your success Everyone!

Making the best of what you have right now will set you peace of mind and heart...

We should all be thankful of what we are having now and try to see the good in everything..Try to be a blessing for everyone you come across...
It doesn't necessarily need to be a huge one but in your own little ways..you'll never know the greatness of its value to others...

Enjoy what still have now and make each moment the best...

    Best regards,
    Bob

I completely get "living with purpose" ... but I don't believe a life lived with purpose entails "sacrifice" when I look at the definition you choose for sacrifice.

Releasing something of a lower nature ... to clear the path for something greater is a joy. Not a sacrifice.

Being able to live in the moment, enjoy everything, because everything is growth, everything is knowledge, everything is experience. Living in this moment with purpose while engaging ones' passions ... is nothing short of bliss.

By doing this ... it is inevitable for us to grow and attain higher levels of well being, success, physical and spiritual wealth. Living life with purpose is constant evolution ... connections with all people both good and bad are a gift to keep you on your current path or help you realize there is a better path for you.

As a result, me being the eternal "glass half full" kinda gal Allows me to see living life with purpose in the moment and following my passions as the greatest gift. There is no sacrifice.

Worrying about the goal after creating it ... that would be sacrifice. Why you ask? Because that worry could prevent you from exceeding your goals because you are unable to live wholeheartedly with purpose in the moment.

    Just a thought.

    Thanks for this Ryan,

I have also been the person who have faced a lot of skepticism among my family and peers regarding what I am doing online. I just graduated from college and they said I should get a job instead of staying at home. They also say that I needed my rest. But I don't know why my body just keeps on moving. It just keeps on pushing its limits so that one day, I will reach my goal.
