What is "YOUR" Secret?

As strange as it may sound, what is your secret may or may not be my secret. But others can use it as pointers that may help them find their secret.

I was introduced to a meditation technique when I was young. It was based on total relaxation as opposed to concentration. At that time I was a total disaster. It helped in many ways. I recovered physically and mentally and returned to near normal life. But there were some habits I could not overcome with this system. Since It helped me a lot, I kept practicing the meditation technique for years in the hope that it will transform me totally.

Some of my friends who used use the same meditation technique tried another technique that was based on concentration. They told me that they get better results with the new technique and some of the changes were evident to everyone. After sticking to my old technique another couple of years, I realized that I am not getting anywhere as far as the the habits that I wanted changed. After some internal struggle and contemplation I decided to give the new technique a try. Although, the new technique did not help me get rid of the habits that were holding me back, my body and mind were more in tune and responded better with the new technique. I felt more energetic and more at peace with myself. That experience made me to think that there may be some other system or technique out there that might help me to change my habits. I started to experiment different techniques and finally found a system that helped to overcome my limitations.

I wished I tried something different when I saw that some of my habits are not changing with my old meditation technique. It would have given me years of more fulfilled, more meaningful, more enjoyable life. I could have tried the new technique earlier and always come back to my old technique that has been giving me moderate success.

So, that is my secret - Don't get wedded to a system or technique, especially if you are not getting what you wanted from that system or technique. Every self-help guru will tell you their is the best system. You are unique and you only know what works best for you. Try different systems or techniques find out what works for you best.

Fellow warriors, what is your secret? share it. If it helps just one struggling warrior, that is the best you can give to someone.

    I echo your secret.

I call this mindset The Disciple Syndrome. Locking in to any one personal development coach limits your potential to learn.

Be open. The moment carries the lesson. People are mere vehicles, be they experts or the person living next door every one can teach you something.
