Hi - Just Starting Out & Want To intoduce myself.

Hi everyone I have been lurking on this forum enough and I need to make a start. Having major problems with procrastination in general / mental block / where-the-hell-do-I-start syndrome. Coupled with a death of a loved one.

I am 31 y/o unemployed (UK) and not likely to find a good job any-time soon (I dropped out of Uni to go live in South east Asia for 4 years, oops!).

I am very computer literate and I love using the Adobe Creative Suite for fun. I am starting to learn web-design and have a passion for photography. I have also tried my hand at writing my many travel experiences, and people have laughed out loud reading them, so I believe I can write OK also.

It is no surprise that I ended up looking at this marketing game for a career.

I'm sure many of you can relate to not wanting to be shackled to a 9-5 job for the rest of your days, for me death would be more appealing (and I am not joking). So I will follow my dream of travelling the world until the day I drop (laptop in hand) earning money on my own initiative and living life as free as is humanly possible.

Sorry for the length of my post, I just had to write that out. Wish me luck & I hope only the best for all on-board here also!

    Welcome ODB!

Here's an idea for you. If you haven't done it already, start a blog. Use your writings about traveling as your posts, with an eye toward some day turning them into a book. The blog will give you an opportunity to try your hand at AdSense or affiliate marketing to generate a few pennies here and there, plus it gives your writing exposure. You never know who might read it & want to work with you.

    Good luck!

ODB, Its like you are speaking to me! I have all the same interests and have also finally taken the time to join/post in the forum after snooping around for a loooong time. I am also a procrastinator, completely ADD and can't decide where to start so I try everything which is completely overwhelming to say the least! I wish you luck and hope to chat more in the future~!

Wow! Thanks for all the constructive replies everybody. I like the sense of community on here, now it's time to get to work!

I had the idea of writing a blog about my travel experiences a while ago, but I also want to turn them into a book. I was worried that if I write about it on the net - and if popular -people will steal it for themselves, and the content for the book would be old.

Hmmmm, but it IS a topic I could happily write for hours on. Should I do that then?

      Yes!
People will steal what people will steal - Welcome to the Internet! Write from a personal perspective and don't waste your energies worrying about all of the possible ways somebody could steal it. Take whatever reasonable precautions you want, but don't get caught up in the trap of focusing on the what-ifs, or you'll never get anything done.

    Hi ODB,

    Welcome to making money online.

Let me save you some real heartache... go ahead and build a real business online selling iformation products. There are so many schemes and methods and "get rich" crap out there. And yes some of it may work but if you really want money freedom you want to build a real business.

And without a doubt the best business model is to sell information. It works and it is cheap.

Another good tip is about courses you will buy. Everyone buys training, in the form of information products usually , but the trick is to follow the course 100% to the numbers. Don't just read it and understand the theory. Go out and do it.

In fact I would go as far as to tell every new person to do what the course instructs THREE times before buying another one or giving up. Yes you will hit some roadblocks along the way (why most give up and never get anywhere) but just push through it and do what the courses say. It works!

    Hope that helps
    -Ryan
