THANKS FOR SENDING IN YOUR THOUGHTS!

Fellow Warriors,

Would you like to have one of 5 licenses Mindmanager 9 (sold for about 350 USD)... for FREE?

Mindjet, the creator of this mind mapping software, gave me 5 licenses which I can give to 5 people. I choose to do this here because I want to give back to our community.

Since there are only 5 licenses, I propose a little contest from which we all benefit.

Here's how you can get your license:

A) Existing mindmappers: Describe how mindmaps help you in your (online) business and what your biggest successes are.

B) Non mindmappers: Tell us about the biggest problems you encounter regarding your information management (e.g. when creating a product, overviewing affiliates, upsells, website development, etc.)

The 5 people with the most impressive results or biggest need receive one of these 5 Mindmanager 9 licenses.

I look forward to your experiences!

Good luck!!!

Arjen

Mindmaps can help you. They will do two things for you which I think you will love: a mindmap creates overview and reduces mind chatter.

I don't know your specific approach to IM. What I do know is that by creating a mindmap you can create clarity in your thinking. If you like to learn how, just let me know. We can work together on this.

One small tip I think you can benefit from right now: don't overdo on creating different websites. Spend more time on one website and make that one successful. Don't give up. Instant success is very rare. You need to learn, work and be patient.

I've just started researching mindmaps. I'm used to being so organized and then I started IM!!!! I've got lists, piles and spreadsheets everywhere! I'm finding this to be very time consuming and counter productive. I think mindmaps may be exactly what I'm looking for. Being new to IM I just don't have the extra money to invest in purchasing a good one.

I'd love to receive one of the licenses you are giving away. I know I would make very good use of it.

    Thanks.

      Hi Jacqueline,

Thanks for your message. I found that mindmaps and IM are a perfect match. Especially when you need to track lots of information and have many little projects you are working on.

What I do is I create a mindmap that brings all the information together in one place. Yes, all the spreadsheets, lists, websites, etc.

With this new Mindmanager version you will be using a wonderful tool. In fact, just download the current tool (version 8) from the mindjet website. Play with it and create your first IM mindmap. I am confident you will love it.

    Hi Arjen,

Thank you for sharing the licenses with people you feel would benefit most from them.

I've been impressed with the screen-capture videos people have made using mindmap software where they show the 3-5 topics for the presentation, then click the first and five sub-topics appear and so on. I've tried organizing my thoughts in a similar way to plan a presentation, and frankly I've just not seen how to use the software I found free online; probably shareware or freeware.

I resonate with the value and importance of mind-mapping. It's just when I've found the free programs online, I seem to have been unable to get them to work as I've wanted them to... they didn't seem intuitive, which means I didn't know what I was doing and previously didn't bother taking the time to learn.

Your offer and message has inspired me to go through the learning curve and begin capturing many of my ideas that would benefit from being expressed.

    Thank you!

    Warmly,
    Dan

How MindMaps Help In Online Business

MindMaps are so integral to the way I think, as an Interactive Marketing Strategist, they play a part in everything virtually everything I do.

The following uses and successes relate to a variety of businesses that I've worked with where my remit was online marketing or web development, or the business used internet technologies to support it's function, for example, apps that integrate with online databases.

      3. I used MindMaps to design my morning success ritual
To answer this question, I used MindManager Pro 6, to map out the answers, structure my thoughts, and then "rendered" into MsWord, then cut and paste it into this discussion board and styled it. I find this is a more efficient process for me than writing (and editing) a linear answer in the reply box.

It would be fun to get a free copy of MindManager 9, and I would definitely make use of a licence for MindManager 9 on a daily basis. I hope my uses of MindMaps inspires many more people to make use of them in their businesses.

I've learned mindmapping when I was in Uni. and everything changed for me after I practiced it.

ALL OF MY BUSINESS are run by mindmaps. it has helped me build telemarketing groups. data entry teams which I do not MANAGE at all.

I've built multiple work processes, funnels, business plans and workflows that have 'fail safes' which means if 'x' happens make sure 'y' is in place. everything from top to bottom is in mindmaps.

Product creation, workflow. process optimization. everything is there. I can go on and on but in a nutshell.

Mindmapping produces action and the main reason is it cuts out all the crap. just says x has 3 subtopics and you have to do each one. before getting to the y part of the process.

crystal clear. makes everything sing and flow.

I usually do two parts of mapping. one is writing it on a very big notebook. then rewriting it and putting it in mindmanager 7.

reason for this is to allow my brain to 'simmer' during the brainstorming stages.

        that's it.

Thank you for your thoughts. I certainly agree with you that mind maps remove all 'the crap' in my work as well.

Many of the maps I create are done on paper. These are just quick maps to clear my mind and to move forward. Most of my everyday maps are done on paper.

The long term or project maps are created on my computer. These are created with many links and notes so it is much easier to create them this way.

By the way... when studying I also create my map first on paper as well. Then I create a digital version and this map is transformed into a presentation I give. This system helps me to internalize the information much faster.

I don't know what Mind manager will offer me as i am currently using free mind.

here are things how and why i use mind maps...

    1. Almost every book that i read i create a mind map of the main points. That helps me in retaining the information and revise without really opening the book again.

It has helped me great deal.

    2. I teach. From english to web development. My students love me for explaining them the concepts first using mind maps.

I try to create a complete map of whatever is to be taught and the relationships amongst the various nodes.

This helps them in learning "Concept Based " Concept based learning is more natural way of learning and getting acquainted to new things.

    3. Almost all my website projects have a mind map. If i am creating anything new i create a mind map. It helps me in organizing the information. Not only the mind map helps me on organizing the the organizing the information BUT also..

    4. Project management (to do list)
it also helps me to create a to do list of various projects.

    5. Mind map as Idea manager

Got an idea? Put it there on the new sheet and then add it later on when you have to figure out WHERE it would fit the best.

Apart from this i use Mind maps a LOT for planning social activities to learning and from idea generation and brainstorming.

    Why do i need Mindmanager?
I know that it is a better software and i could organize mind maps in a better way. Using images and linking is nt that great in Free mind.

But i love freemind nonetheless, and

having Mind Manager would be an asset and might help me in exploring new possibilities with the whole world of Mind Mapping!

Thanks Priyankeshu, great to read how you are using mindmaps.

Do you ask your students to create mindmaps as well? Or do you give them your mindmaps as a reference guide?

I noticed that in teaching it is wonderful to show mindmaps AND ask the students to give you a copy of their mindmaps after your lesson. This way you can see what they find important.

I have been a mind mapper for many, many, years. I started out with Freemind until I was given MindManager 6. I am still using this version today.

I use MM to keep track of everything. Projects, commitments, request, task, you name it and I have a map for it. I use GyroQ as a plugin for MM. It helps me to capture things without being interrupted. I can easily capture any commitments I have promised to others into a map and never skip a beat. The same applies to commitments made to me. Ideas, task, or whatever you need to keep track of can be instantly recorded into a map with virtually no break in your work flow.

As far as organization is concerned, there is no tool that I have found better for managing projects. The brainstorming features allows me to capture ideas quickly and arrange them in a way that makes sense for me. Although my version of MindManager no longer works with Microsoft Outlook, the later versions do, and it is just another reason to consider trying MindManger 9.
I'd really like to get one of those licenses, either way I'm going to keep on mapping!

I have not used Mindmapping before, but it seems very intriguing.

Now, I consider myself to be an organized person, but somewhere along the line, especially with large projects where I am assimilating a good amount of ideas and data....out of nowhere these piles appear.

I have used notebooks, files, folders, spreadsheets, and am consistently and constantly trying to find the best ways to organize myself. Finding a way to be able to cross-reference ideas and materials in an organized way has not been easy.

I think the find that creativity works in a non-linear fashion is the problem, and, well, many organizational techniques tend to be linear.

To be honest, I also tend to get sidetracked and befuddled when it comes to multi-stage projects - sometimes it just doesn't seem obvious what to tackle next, too many things running at one time, I guess.

It seems that mindmapping would be a great way to not only organize, but, like was said earlier, manage the mindchat.

I believe you should really look into mind mapping. I was like you describe: I was fine when dealing with different tasks and projects... until one point in time when everything seemed to slip away.

Mindmaps help me organized now. I create a map and never forget what I need to do. There are only two (human) problems in working with mindmaps.

            1. You have to update the maps.
            2. You need to use them.

Once you do that, you will be able to deal with lots of information and remain focused.

Let me know if you want to discuss this more!

              Arjen,

I can't post a link to anything (including an example MindMap) on this forum because I don't have a high enough post count yet to do so.

Most of my MindMaps are client / project specific, and may be interesting to people, but may not be of great value.

So... inspired by some of the public maps made visible on MindMeister, I will re-work a set of questions useful for getting a strategic orientation of a company, and make that map public, and update this tread and direct message you on twitter when I do.

BTW, if you want to send me an email directly, you can do so using thomas (at) oduffy (dot) com

              best regards,

              Thomas

PS: I am very happy to be getting a free MM9 Licence.
PPS: If you ever want to interview someone who is an avid mindmapper, perhaps I would be a good candidate!
