Maybe you're following the wrong method? How can you be sure?

I know that there's a lot to be said for choosing one thing to do in IM marketing and sticking with it. If you do, you'll likely increase your chances of succeeding.

And if you don't get good results, or perhaps none at all, could it be that you really followed a method that wasn't right for you in the first place? Isn't this what makes a lot of things in IM so iffy?

Say you're not a techie and don't feel comfortable getting involved in techie stuff. Eventually, you get some help and move along. But still results, such as more opt-ins and more income still don't happen. Could it be that perhaps you followed a strategy that was wrong for you and didn't realize it until it was too late? Too bad. Now it's back to square one.

Just wondering.

That's if you chose to be a follower. Great leaders listen to everyone else's opinions, ideas, concepts, methods, etc... The difference is in whether you make your own decisions or not. If you can open your mind to all concepts, methods, ideas, do your own exploring, testing, research, interviewing, etc... Then you will have the tools to know what to do regardless of what anyone else says or does before you.

    Webwriter,

This situation occurs with most marketers who actively pursue projects that are doomed to failure with many throwing money and energy at it with little or no results.

The key to getting something to work is preparation and intelligent research before doing anything.

Techie stuff is the easy part, developing products is the easy part, finding a hungry market who are looking to buy with credit card in hand is also easy if people know what to do, it's just a question of putting the pieces together.

    Continuous improvement:
If it ain't broke, break it. Try something new.
If it works, keep doing it.
If it doesn't, tweek it or try something else.
    Then try something new.
    Rinse and repeat.

Also, if you're climbing the ladder of personal success, be sure you've placed the ladder against the right wall.

    Hi webwriter,

There's no such thing as square one. Each experience offers a valuable lesson which successful people take with them.

I've removed the phrase "starting from scratch" from my vocabulary. Each moment we are either progressing or regressing and its your belief system which determines this. This is why I rarely trust in appearances, just my vision and I see myself hurtling toward my goals each day.

Keep learning, keep experimenting and convince yourself that you are only moving forward.

    Another thing to consider...
No one method is perfect. No single process is all encompassing. The key is to learn how to analyze the situation and all the variables to determine which adjustments would be more effective for your situation. Yes, also consider what you are selling, while a good salesman can sell ice to Inuits it doesn't stop them from heading you off and surrounding you with Polar bears on your way out after they figure out the ice is the same as the stuff on the ground around them.

Great point here. This is why analysis in the form of critical thinking is key.

Effectiveness isn't the product of lazy thinking.

Here is a success formula from the late great Jim Rohn that I believe answers this v well.

    Wisdom + Testimonials + Action = Success

Wisdom = taking a proven system by following a mentor or tutor who is already succesful in what you are trying to accomplish

Testimonials = validating the proven system with concrete testimonials

Action = The all important step of taking massive consistent action and never giving up. Once you decide to give up you fail!

If you follow that formula you cant go wrong, but just take out one step from the equation and you are screwed!

Interesting concept. Giving up is so easy to do, and it seems that a lot of people have forgotten that not giving up is a defining point of character.
