How Blogging Changed My Life

Hi Mind Warriors,

I thought I would share with you just a little story about how blogging changed my life.

I started to blog a few years ago, without any intention of becoming a "pro blogger" or anything like that. I just wanted to write, and to explore certain issues in my life.

Basically at that time I was an extremely negative person. Though I tried, my mind would always turn onto the negative, I'd always imagine the worst case scenario and so on. This did have an impact on my life and my happiness.

Simply through writing in my blog and exploring those issues, I was able to change my whole way of thinking. I set a rule for myself: only write positive. I stuck to this rule probably 90% of the time. If I was feeling bad, I would write about the positive lessons I'd learned from whatever caused me to feel bad etc.

I guess this was a way of expressing gratitude, and also of letting myself know I was always on the right path. I wouldn't have believed it when I started, but this simple writing changed the way I think. I now find it so much easier to block those negative thoughts from my mind.

(PS. It then changed my life again when it lead me into the world of "make money blogging", then to affiliate marketing and here I am... )

I am so happy I started that blog when I did.

So I also wanted to ask you, how has the internet, blogging, or internet marketing changed your life?

    Hi Ruth,

    Thanks for sharing your story

I too stick to the positive story route throughout my career. Even when it seems so easy to complain about a situation I decide to see the opportunity presented to me. Dwelling on the negative attracts negative circumstances, concentrating on the positive brings positives.

You're right Ryan. For a negative person, getting into that habit is at first a real challenge. But it becomes more and more natural and gradually makes you a happier person.

No doubt!! There is def something to be said about self fulfilling prophecy...my highschool football coach used to say if you want to be a champion, you have to dress, practice and act like one...that message has carried with me throughout my life...

I feel I'm the same way you were. I often lean toward the negative and not the positive. I can easily find the negative in any situation, and this has been controlling my life for a while. I'm a web designer, recently started freelancing, and getting very frustrated with the lack of clients and amount of effort to find the few I have. Anyway, I also have a couple blogs. I'm thinking I should start another with a more personal focus. What type of blog do you write? Or do you have several niche blogs? I'm wondering if this "blogging as therapy" is better done with focus on one particular type of blog, or if it works when writing across several different blogs.

    • I'm a blogger and yes blogging changed my life too. When I write, I have to think how I explain what's in my head. That helps understanding what's in my head more clearly. If I just think in my head, my thoughts are just like ghosts, pop up and disappear very quickly. By writing, I have to read it repeatedly to express my thoughts right. If I'm in negative mode, I can usually pick it up when reading and often realize how pitiful or ugly state my mind was in. That's when I end my negative mode and start thinking positive. It's not easy to be always 100% positive, some negative things do happen, but I now know how to overcome negatives.

I think it's fair to say that blogging changed my life.

Good to hear about how blogging changed your life. My thoughts about blogging is at first, I was unfortunate enough doing some blogs without earning, but then in the long run someone from UK needs a partner on his website about SEO services, that then I tried contacting him and talk about his service and suggest if I can put a blog page on his site then will be the one to update and maintain his site. Fortunate enough that he agreed with my idea that time, and now, I am earning....thanks to those blog software out there.

Yeah it does take consistency and persistence, especially if you are very negative like I was.

Also - I think writing has a cathartic effect. That is, if you're carrying bad thoughts and feelings, writing them gets them out of your head and ready to move on with your day.

Thanks for all your comments everyone

Indeed, Blogging has changed many lives. Blogging offers tremendous opportunity to explore one's passion. While blogging we learn new things that otherwise we bloggers would not even aware. Blogging is a continuous journey, a journey of exploration and self-discovery. It tests the limit and depth of our knowledge, patience, and challenges us to the hilt. Only those persevere and tough survive while others wither away.

That is a great story Ruth. Unlike most people, you actually DID something and took action to implement a lasting change in your life. I video blog on a regular basis and I always talk about the things I am implementing in my life. Just the act of blogging about it helps me solidify it in my mind and ultimate into my behavior.

Your story is a great success story for people who are just starting out and looking for inspiration
