Stress Buster - Action or Inaction?

Do you feel that acting or pulling back is the more effective stress buster?

When super anxious action does it for me for usually it's lack of action causing the stress.

    Hi Ryan,

Whenever I'm stressed doing something about it helps.

Firstly, I can direct all my energy and focus into something else other than worry.

Secondly, I use up the energy caused by the built up of stress.

Lastly, taking action to right the cause of the problem in some small way helps.

    Action for me as well...

Sometimes that action means going ahead and pursuing something that effectively gets my mind off the stress and sometimes the action means actively searching for ways to calm myself. Anxiety can be controlled.

I take a deep breath whenever I'm stressed.

Mind you, anything can cause stress. Action can cause stress; inaction can also cause it. There's no place to hide.

Good point here. I felt stressed yesterday and that was what came to mind; there was nowhere to hide. I had to sit and embrace the feeling for it to pass. Painful, but necessary for now I don't have to deal with it today...it's gone.

      Thanks for the add.

I feel action is the best way to get rid of stress. By doing something productive you are more likely to forget what it is that you are stressing about. I think by sitting back and doing nothing you will only have more time to think about whats been stressing you out.

A good way to relieve stress is by focusing on some other thing, something that you love - listening music may be considered an example.

Stress buster? Solution - action, action! In two ways - moving action and relaxed action.

Action in some form that gets me moving and perspire - sometimes I do dance a thon to a favorite song/s or an exercise workout, work in my garden or just clean house.

Action in some form that gets me to relax and be silent - like deep breathing meditation, journal work - writing en mass, practice chikung, simple walking and enjoying nature, or just simply sleep.

There is a need to differentiate what action I need and just do it - focusing on it for whatever time I have. And after wards, I can safely go back to life and its pace, grounded and energized somewhat.
