Who Are Your INSPIRATIONAL Idols/Role Models And Why?

I am writing this post for the sole purpose of inspiring both myself and other Warriors.

I know that we all have people who we admire and look up to because of our own reasons. We have all been truely INSPIRED by someone or something at some point.

So this is a chance for you to share with your fellow Warriors your INSPIRATIONAL experiences and persons and why they inspired you in hope that you and other Warriors can become re-inspired and get that juice and energy flowing!

For me, one of the most inspirational people of all time is the late Bruce Lee. I have watched his interviews and i own and have read 3 of his books (The Art Of Expressing the Human Body, The Tao Of Jeet June Do and A Book On Gun Fu)

Bruce Lee was and still is a truely admirable charactor. For me this is because of his Dedication for his Passion! He had a dream and a burning desire to become the best martial artist in the world. And no doubt he did achieve that dream and i think that to this day there has not become known a man who could match his skill and talent.

His work-rate was ALOT. He was truely dedicated to his dream. In his books it explains how instead of walking to the shop Bruce would ALWAYS run. He would curl dumb-bells while 'relaxing' watching TV. No matter where he was or what he was doing, he was also doing something constructive towards his goals and dreams.

He studied thousands of books, magazine articles, martial art systems/style/techniques, Sporting Techniques (such as western boxing), Athletics, Bodybuilding, Dance, Philiosophy and more.

People would often say that he would 'Over-Train' - He would reply "I would rather be Over-Trained than Under-Trained."

Bruce Lee took martial arts and health and fitness to a whole new level. He did become the greatest Warrior of all time in my eyes. He is a true inspiriation of what Passion, Hope, Dedication and a Burning Desire can achieve.

I often think to myself - imagine if Bruce Lee's had been "insert career/subject here". Like imagine if Bruce Lee wanted to be an Internet Marketer, i have no doubt that he would be the greatest Internet Marketer of all time because of how he went about doing what he loved and how much he put into it.

  • Swami Rama because he conquered death and he studied with others who also conquered death. Swami Rama brought much clarity to my inner searching through his teachings.

Daskalos (Dr. Stylianos Atteshlis) featured mystic in the book Magus of Strovolos. Like Swami Rama this man achieved great depth of understanding and mystical abilities. His teachings are awesome!

Paramanhansa Yogananda because of his inspiring accomplishments and teachings that have transformed my life so profoundly.

There are many many others too. I wrote in depth about Swami Rama and other Masters who have Overcome Death in one of my MySpace blogs.

My inspirational role model is by far Richard Branson.

I admire everything about this guy. He lives life to the max, always and I mean ALWAYS having fun along the way. In fact, he's had too much fun. But that's not a bad thing.

I have read his autobiography and it is amazing how he constantly challenges himself to see what he is capable of doing. I think everyone should continuously challenge themselves no matter what they do, because I believe everyone is better than they think they are.

He also lives with no regrets which is why he's achieved so many records in aviation amongst other things. He is someone living life to the max, and this is how everyone should live their lives.

If you have read that great work "Think And Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, (if you haven't I urge you to do so), you may remember that in step 13 he talks about holding nightly meetings with his 'Invisible Counsellors'.

These 'counsellors' were made up of the nine men he most admired and on whom he tried to build his own character.

His nine were: Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thomas Paine, Thomas Alva Edison, Charles Robert Darwin, Abraham Lincoln, Luther Burbank, Napoleon Bonaparte, Henry Ford, and Andrew Carnegie.

The idea behind these 'meetings' was to ask each man for help in changing his, (Napoleon Hill's) character by substituting bits of what he admired in each. He goes on to explain that these men became so real to him that, even though he knew deep down they were all in his imagination, he became frightened for his mental state and stopped the meetings for several months.

Five years ago when I first read this chapter I just thought it was weird! But, as Mr Hill himself suggested, I read it again and then again. And the more I read it the more it began to make a kind of funny sense. I was determined to make changes to myself and get rid of the parts of my character I didn't like so I decided to give the idea a go.

So I got a big pad of paper and a pen and sat down and wrote out a list of the people I most admired. I then wrote down the reasons why I admired them. Finally I made a list of the things I would like them to teach me if I could meet with them. I finished up with the following "Master Group":

Arthur, 1st Duke of Wellington, British General who never lost a battle. His great gift was for preparation and planning.

Charles Haanel, businessman, thinker and author of "The Master Key System"- the work that really explains the Law of Attraction and how it will work for everyone.

Winston Churchill journalist, historian and Prime Minster who led Britain though World War 11 to victory. His great gift was his power of concentration on the project in hand, whether writing an article or book or directing a country at war.

Napoleon Hill who in 'Think And Grow Rich' wrote a plan for success that can be used by anybody whatever their ability or circumstances.

Ben Feldman insurance salesman with New York Life who in his career sold over $1,800,000,000 of life insurance working out of a small town in Ohio. His great gift was enthusiasm and goal setting.

Archie Leech the Englishman who invented a character, a man who had everything Archie hadn't. Archie eventually became his character Cary Grant one of the Cinema's all time greats. His gift was his wit and his humour and being able to laugh at himself both on and off the screen.

Samuel Smiles 19th Century Scottish Journalist and author of 'Self Help' the first self help book which inspired some of the greatest businessmen of the 19th Century including Andrew Carnegie.

Horatio Nelson greatest of Sea Admirals whose Victory at Trafalgar protected Britain from invasion by Napoleon Bonaparte. His great gift was managing all who served under him, with care and respect even for the humblest sea-man.

Lao-tse ancient Chinese philosopher and author of The Tao (The Way). He explains how to by working with natural law you can achieve things with less effort.

So 5 years ago I started having meetings with my "Master Group" We hold our 'meeting' every morning at 6:45am in my study. I sit in my favourite arm chair with a cup of coffee, I set my alarm for 30 minutes close my eyes and watch as my 'counsillors' take their places round the table. I then report to the group where I am with a project and ask for their help in solving any problems I may have.

Does it work you may ask? Do I get answers? Am I loopy?

Yes it does work and I do get answers. The daily journal I keep proves to me that it does works. No I don't think I'm loopy. I know it is just me working out problems. Though I am not entirely sure it is just me. Charles Haanel talks about the 'Universal Mind' and I will leave you to discover what he means by reading his great work " The Master Key System.
