Is Earlier Humans guilty of not using their brain power?

Anatomically modern humans originated in Africa about 200,000 years ago, reaching full behavioral modernity around 50,000 years ago, but it's just in the seventeenth century that man started to uncover using his brain potential the goodness of the earth for enriching his life style.

The question is why it took such a long time for humans to experience the lifestyle which we currently all of us have?

Is this means, the earlier humans were guilty of not using their brain power which in turn cause them to have poor lifestyle?

Who says they had a poor lifestyle? I'd imagine they were probably a lot happier and more fulfilled than we will ever be!

I really doubt that. Even for the Nobles that did not need to lift a finger a simple toothache was pure hell. Scratching a finger could kill you.

Even ignoring medical conditions and hygiene, life was very, very difficult.

About the subject, only in the last few centuries a culture that mass finance technological advances evolved. And that only happened in a few places. Most of the world today is still in a virtual stone age.

Democracy helps as well. China and the Mongol Empire were extremely advanced for their age but if the new emperor were not in the mood of financing the scholars, all progress was halted for decades or centuries.

With the advent of corporations and entrepreneurs, technological advances could be made without the need for heavy government financing.

Basically all the pieces were already on play long ago, but just in the last few centuries they were all reunited in the same game table.

At least, that's my 2 cents.

I believe he's talking about the first people to move from the caves, but even then, then point you're making is still spot on.

These cave dwellers used their brains to harness fire, build tools and rudimentary buildings, create art, form speech and writing etc.

You also need to take into account the exponential increase in the actual number of humans on the planet at any given time. If you assume that 0.05% of human beings are genuises that can have ideas that will further the entire race (I've just pulled this figure out of my arse for the sake of example, so don't quote me on that!) then it'll take a lot longer for one to appear when there's only 100 human beings.

Earlier humans? What about humans right now? Here in the States 53% of the adult population believes the universe is only 6,000 years old. 45% don't know how long it takes the Earth to go around the Sun.

Exactly. Frankly, I can't get my head around "Is Earlier Humans...."

Earlier humans were dealing more with survival. We deal more in illusion.

I think they were just as smart as we are today..probably moreso...what people are forgetting is today we have the help of computer (not our brains!!!) to help with everything...they think faster and smarter than most humans ever will!!!...also we have tons of other technologies that make things easier to not use our brains while they had nothing but their brains and came up with fire, writing, languages, and inventing the wheel...hmm without any of those things we would still be in the dark ages and wouldnt have cars, computers or anything..they started it all for us with nothing but their brains..and they were also way more fulfilled and happier...we are all stressed out today..and have so many more health problems...one guys mentioned that a simple toothache or medical conditions sucked....well guess what? they didnt have any of those issues because they ate healthy!..they only ate all natural products..fruit...nuts...veggies....they didnt eat ding dongs...drink soda and coffee...and eat fast food that causes all these toothaches and medical conditions!...I would have loved to live back then..all healthy and all natural and stress free and just working the land...so simple and so nice!

I would also like to mention that there are many things that go unwritten and unsaid.

So vast are the confines of the mind, but so limited is the ability with which they can be communicated.

Those who are just coming to the earth today will soon wonder why we are so archaic. I understand that the genuises EVEN TODAY use less than 10% of their brain capacity. Is that right?
