the most important ingredient for success!

Which do you think is more important for success?

Desire, Intention or Action?

I believe intention is the most important component. Because without clear intention, your action is not well-guided. You might be taking action, but action without intention is futile. You can also have very intense desire, but if you don't develop the intention to realise the desire, it is also no good. So for me, intention is the single most important factor in success.

What are your thoughts?

I agree that intention is very important but just having an intention to achieve will lead you nowhere. An intention, coupled with desire to achieve and getting down to action after considering the pros and cons of the intention alone can help you be a success. Neither the desire alone nor the action without desire or intention will hold key to success. All the three, in the same note and in the same proportion when combined, will produce the results you want to achieve.

If the first inward thought of an end/a result is not warded off, it will generate a desire, then the desire will generate a wish, and the wish will generate an intention, and the intention will generate the action, and the action will result in the creation of wealth. So the seeds of success must be sowed to create the root, which is when it is simply a thought that crosses the mind, from which all the other things follow on.

Intention is always nice, but in my opinion it does not lead to success. Just because one has the intent to do something, does not mean that they will do it. Passion is the key to success. Passion incorporates all the the traits into one strong bundle that if applied correctly, can almost guarantee one success.

      • If it has to be a choice, then I'd go for Action. Nothing is achieved without action. But without intention, the action may be unfocused and ineffective. Desire is good but is not always essential.

I guess what I tried to say is, you need all three to succeed, but in terms of order of importance, intention is number 1. A bit silly to rank them I know...

      Hello Omari Taylor here,

I agree they are all very improtant but I would say action is the most important in my opinion. I believe if your taking Massive Action it equals Massive Results. You may not be using the right strategies at first but as long as your taking action you with definitely learn what works and becomes successful. A lot of people take notes and have great intentions, but take no action. Some people never get started because the want to get everything set up and perfect before they start instead of just getting out there. No one knows anything when they start marketing online but over time by taking action you learn and make money. So I believe action is the most important.

Intention is very important no question. I would also add in desire with passion and love of the goal you are setting out to achieve. If you truly have passion for something you want then there is a very good chance you will go out there and succeed.

I think taking action is most important.

Your intentions might change or be unclear. But if you have the ability to take massive action you will always be able to move towards your goals - no matter what they are or how they change.

In many cases you won't even be able to find your true goal or motivation unless you start your journey taking action and gaining experience.

Having the intention sends a message to the Universe. The Universe will present you with opportunity that help you achieve your intention.

That's where you take action to exercise that opportunity. However, that's also the stage where most people stopped.

I actually think they are all collectively important. I would also add "allowing" to your list. It should probably be inserted between intention and action.

Sometimes, we let desire, intention, and action take over ourselves to the point that nothing happens.

Therefore, I think it is important to have the assurance that things will easily attract to you if you are just receptive to receiving it. Then, should you go forth with taking action.

I agree with Devin, passion is what I believe drives the world... when we have passion about something, that's the main thing that keeps us going because we don't see it as hard, as work, as something we must do... it's just that, our passion, actually a pleasure to do and therefore is very easy.

I know passion is a "big" word, it can be applied to so many things, but when it comes to internet marketing, you definitely have to be passionate about it, not just about the money but also helping people out there. For some people is hard to believe that you can make money just having a computer at home, but we all know is true. The main ingredient of that? Again, for me, is passion, passion about the subject, about helping others, about having more time for your family and your hobbies; also passion about learning, we have to like, or really being passionate, about learning something new every day and be open-minded to new methods, new ideas, etc.

      That's my 2 cents.

Jeez Li Weng - you ask some good ones!

    Here's what I think:

1 Well defined and personal (ie your own) goals
    2 Desire/motivation
    3 Faith in yourself
    4 Action
5 good likeminded friends to support you

(and yes this is based on think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill and I am going to shamelessly plug it because it works - esp bit (5))

Seriously - if you don't have goals you don't know what your aiming for and then you aren't really motivated. If you don't have faith (in yourself) then you'll trip at the first obstacle and not get up, and if you don't act?

And good friends can help you along, pick you up if you slip or (gently) kick you in the butt if you lose track!

    all the best!
Well a plan without action is just a dream isn't it.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "success". Does success = money, $50K, $100K, $500K or more? I'm between $50 and $100K and by no means do I believe I'm financially successful. I just started an online endeavor to try to be more successful looking for a goal in the 6 figure income, but it's a slowwwww start.

Is success raising a family with great children and having them making it on their own? I think this can be a real challenge and I'm still working on trying to teach them to start their own businesses early. My intent is good, but my actions in helping them is not very strong.

My hobby/sport is bass fishing and I do fairly well in local bass tournaments. I've learned a lot through the years and use that experience to be more successful in making some money this way. The success is more of an inner pride/joy knowing that I can compete with the best of them. Intent is OK, but I believe action, experience and learning can really help in being successful in all these endeavors.

If I may augment your sterling contribution, I would propose that the Intention itself (the Purpose, as directed by your Will) must be not only as clear as a bell in one's Mind, but must be consistent and uncorrupted by contradicting thought or impulse so that one stays the steady course.

Consider, if you will, that the relationship among the three may be that of a Triangle, with each taking up one of three points, but all relying on one another.

A term you may have heard is "A clear mindset," but you have not likely heard the term "A mindset clear."

Intent is Purpose, which effects Mindset; yet, Mindset motivates one to obtain clear, distinct methods for successful accomplishment - and it is that clarity which both supercharges motivational Intent AND solidifes the Mindset (the Mind, set on getting the thing done).

So, there are three aspects, each incomplete without the company of the other two - a family, so to speak.

    Desire, Intention or Action?
    >>

whow...this is actually a tricky one!

Desire for "wealth" is what drives us.
    Intention is what causes action.
Action is what creates things .

You might be right with "Intention" since it is important to have a CLEAR goal and then go with the action. Otherwise i can spend months doing some "action" eg. programming....but with a mere fuzzy "intention" which would rather result in some halfa$$ product or maybe never being finished.

So..intention sets a clear goal...the action is the way to get to the goal.
Without Intention, Plan, Concept nothing substantial will arise.

    My vote: Action

It's what get's things done... Desire and Intention are meaningless unless you take action on your intentions and desires.
