High Performance Mental States

State is everything right? We've talked about this before! I always used to wonder, "what do you do, to get yourself to do, the stuff you know you should do and more?" The answer came to me, when I started reading about brain science, and things like NLP (neuro linguistic programming). But what it's really about, is getting attuned to your internal state. How do you feel right now? Do you think you can shift it? How? If you do, will it help you to feel great now, and engage in high performance activities?

How: Language. Language induces state. Bad states are created by unresourceful, resentment based, focus on things we cannot control but have a negative opinion about. The firing of internal images, and communication in your nervous system, with this kind of stuff, creates radically negative states. I think we all know this. Conversely, consciously cultivating the emotion of joy for example, imaging what it is you want to create in your life HABITUALLY, and repeating powerful mantras in your mind, and out loud with your emotions and your body, create powerful communication in your body, all of which constitute high performance states!

Yes, you can shift your state, whenever you want. The great part about it is that the more you do it, the more your brain builds new pathways and brain networks associated with doing that. Any practiced mind body exercise, like meditation for example, has been proven over and over again in extensive neurological studies to have actual structural brain changing effects, extremely positive ones I might add! This is no joke everyone, this is human beings learning about the way their minds work, and you can learn it too!

Yes, if you shift into power states, you'll feel the difference, and start engaging in the activities that will inevitably get you the results you're committed to. But again folks, don't take my word for it, take your own. The difference between Ryan Critchett and a motivational speaker, is that I help people to train themselves to be the ring leader of the processes of their minds, and to make life happen instead of hanging out on the bench. You are your own executive, to the rest of your mind, make it happen!

Great post Ryan. I agree that the more you do something the easier it gets, but I believe it’s because we are training our subconscious that we can achieve our goals by making the shift in thought.

I’ve tried many things in the past and all the “tricks” it wasn’t until I read about the subconscious and how it can help and hurt you that I took notice of my subconscious.

Thanks for replying! I know just what you mean. We're coming from a "go go go" world where no one really learns, owns and directs their own unconscious processes! Heck, people don't even govern their conscious processes sometimes! But with training, the right understanding of how you work, and attuning yourself to that world to become what I call "internally adept," everything else becomes effortless, especially high performance states. Thanks again for commenting.

How true. I'm currently in a self challenge and after only a week of sticking to it I have notice a great deal of difference and change.

When I complete the challenge at the end of the month I’ll share what it is and what the result are.

But you’re right, taking control of your thoughts does become effortless once you begin. The key is to notice your thoughts and stick with it.

Ryan, great post about mental states. Have you found brain entrainment audios to be helpful with building and reinforcing neural networks that make it easier for us to reach desirable mental states?

I have used predominantly binaural audio so far, and have found it very helpful in reaching this 'peak performance' state.

Do you know of any software that will allow you to create your own brain entertainment scripts? I've been looking but haven't found any yet.

No, but that sounds incredibly interesting! I've heard a lot about it.
