Mental States are Driven by Messages

Sometimes, the state that you're in, is driven by a single message. If you can identify this message, and alter it, it will radically change the state you're in. This happens because the communication between cells in your body is a major contributor to the overall state you're in at any given moment. If you're in a horrible state, you may have a main message that goes "I can't believe he or she just did that!" You may have an image in your mind of a scenario playing over and over again in your head, and your body is still firing off the emotional responses. Changing your state is one of the most powerful things you could ever learn to do. Becoming conscious of your internal states, and the communication in your body that gives rise to them, has a lot of power. Mastering these processes is the foundation for constantly moving towards great outcomes in your life. I can't tell you how much I've achieved over the last couple of years just from putting myself in high performance states to take action! It's extraordinary! The main tip you can pull away from this is that most of the time, there is some kind of message giving rise to the state you're in at any given moment. If you can become attuned to it, start altering it and making it what you want, you'll begin to become adept in the most important area of your life: managing you. Thanks for reading!

Great point, when I get down or feeling negative I found a good workout often helps. It puts the body into a more powerful state and the mind follows. The key too is to key yourself there when you’re done by not letting the mind drift back to what caused the negative mood in the first place.

I try to keep one or two projects that keep me motivated around that I can work on to keep my mind positive.

Both posts are valuable. Moods and negative thoughts can be our undoing but having strategies to address them and make changes is invaluable. Many people need to be more aware of how to deal with their moods and/or self-concept.

That's why I don't let circumstances affect me by reacting to it. One small message may create a difference. One thought may bring significant changes. There are a lot of bad people / bad things around us but it's how we react to them that spells the difference in our lives.
A thought may become an action. An action may become a habit. So be careful with what we think.

Very true, it is important to control your thoughts but sometimes you need a little something to help grab control of your thoughts. That's why I like a good workout or reading a really motivating passage.

There is the world of our mind and imagination. It is a virtual reality that can appear and feel just as real. When it comes to your emotions the virtual world of your mind can be more convincing. It can be more real. Do you ever notice the voice in your head has a lot of self-judgments? One of the most helpful things in this process of controlling negative messages in your head is to realize where it came from and what it was doing there. Understanding the origin of the source will allow you to let go of negative thoughts and reactions.
