Passion-Is It In You?

Let me ask you a question. What carries people over and beyond the top? What makes them take risk unlike others and have the drive to go the extra mile and do whatever it takes to achieve their goal? Is it having a great plan or is it passion? I'd bet all my chips in a poker game on the person that has passion. Passion creates the fire and provides the fuel an individual needs to keep going like that Energizer bunny no matter what kind of circumstances surround them.
When a person is passionate about what they're doing, there's nothing that can or will stop them. It doesn't matter how many people are talking about them not does it matter if they fall down along the way. A person filled with passion will keep getting up, keep fighting and make the most out of any situation until they succeed.
Another question.......Have you ever met a person with great passion who lacked the energy to finish their mission? I don't think so and I doubt that you'll ever find such a person.
So as the saying goes "find something you like to do so much that you'll do it for nothing and if you learn to do it well, someday people will be happy to pay for it."
What are you passionate about? Are you truly passionate about your current job or business? Or is it just something to do to pay the bills. If you have passion driving you and it's fun, then the saying stands true that "there's no fun like work!"

I also believe that if you are going to succeed then you need to be passionate at what you are doing. If you hate what you are doing then you’re not going to give it 100% of your efforts.

Yep, be passionate about your work. At least if you want to head anywhere of note.

If someone loses energy they lost their passion. Rekindle your fire by seeing your dream in detail. Passion precedes greatness but clear and definite visions usually precede a passion.

    All the best!

I once met a simple but interesting man. When asked to say something about his work for the living and his life, he said "Well accounting is my profession but IT is my passion." Now he's a successful businessman. He owns an outsourcing company who offers financial and accounting services. He designed the online systems that they sell along with their services. Such an inspiration. He must be very happy and satisfied with his company.. being able to do what he studied for and his passion.

Passion, together with determination and action, certainly drives people beyond expectations. But, in my view, until and unless there's a goal, we'll just go round and round in circles...

Passion is absolutely it! I used to live in the old paradigm, where we believed that passion either came or it didn't. The truth is, we engage it. We discover, get activated, and get passionate! Some people talk to me about all of the 'money' in my 'industry' but the truth is, I did what I believe to be the smart thing when it comes to business: I got passionate! Great post, all great replies, awesome thread.

If you're passionate about what you're doing then you're a lot more likely to succeed. But you still need the technical know-how to achieve what you've set out to accomplish (assuming we're taking about business/hobbies). Self-belief is important too. Knowing that what you're doing is the right thing to be doing because you have a) the techincal knowledge, b) the experience in dealing with similar situations beforehand and seeing the outcomes.

You can't soley think yourself into being successful - unless your definition of success changes the more you think!

Is it in me? Yes. Since I was a kid I've been passionate with numbers and analysis. Exactly why I took up accountancy and became a CPA. It is so fulfilling to do what you're so passionate with.

You definitely have to be passionate. But passionate doesn't mean you're gonna make money from sitting on the sofa watching football. There still has to be a driving force and a plan of action behind the passion.
