Get Accurate - Mental Model of Results

Hey Guys it's RC!

Listen, I want to share with you a great mind element that helps me to move toward achievement everyday of my life and that is knowing the difference between an inaccurate mental model of how things work, and an accurate model of how things work. Let me explain.

For years of my life, I walked around thinking nothing was possible for me and that I was being controlled by the formulation of events that landed in my life. The truth really was I never learned how to take command.

When your mind goes "I have an idea," what most people do is say "it'll never work, remember what happened last time you tried etc." That's your brains reference system scanning through files that are already in place. I've found that results come easy when you can go in and put different files in there that get you to automatically take the action and implement the idea.

Seek as many references to replace those bad files as you can. Develop a different mental model of what's possible because ya know what the truth really is? (I'm about to sound all hoakey) Anything is possible. It really is if you've got the right strategies, you use what Tim Ferriss and John Reese seem to use a lot (TESTING) and you ensure the communication that takes place in your mind fuels you to action.

Thanks for reading!

    Hey RC!

What you're talking about is a lot of what's in the book, PsychoCybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz.

Having successes that you can refer back to that will fuel your future endeavors.

Great thread. I really enjoyed reading it!

I've read the book.. and the new updated version! It's incredible. I especially like when he talks about servomechanisms and feedback data. Thanks for commenting!

Its one of my all-time favorites. I've read both the original version and the one with Dan Kennedy - I prefer the original.

Either way, I programme my servomechanism for positivity each day and assign matters to my subconscious at night in order to ensure success the next morning.

    Again, enjoyed reading your thread!

Anthony Robbins says the same thing about reprogramming bad habits, and memories. You create a video in your head of the memory and make it big, in color, loud and replay it. Then you remove the color; make it smaller and lower in volume. Then alter the content of the internal movie to change the experience to one that empowers you.

    • Great post! I've heard of "Psycho-Cybernetics", but haven't read it yet, although I'm familiar with a lot of these exercises already. Just gave me a good reminder to go to my library's website and put it on hold! I guess I'm gonna read it soon!

it's also on audio CD set. I like getting stuff like this on CDs so I can listen as I drive back and forth to and from work.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I really don't drive much. And I read far, FAR faster than an audio speaker usually speaks, anyway.

That would be a great suggestion for someone to make good use of their commute time, though!

I drive a lot so it works out good... fills up an hour and a half every day while driving.

Definitely read it! In my opinion it was the beginning of looking at mental processes in terms of mechanics.. and systems. Because of the way our brains work, the author Maxwell Maltz was incredibly accurate for his time on how the mind operates.

Definitely one of the best books in personal development psychology ever written! Thanks for commenting!

Great replies! Yea Scort.. Tony talks a lot about those kind of things. Originally that came from Psycho Cybernetics, but really was popularized by Bandler and Grinder (co creators of Neuro Linguistic Programming) which Tony went out and took public.. massively!

One of my major points in my movement is for people to get an accurate mental model of what's really possible out there in "reality." It's huge for achievement! Thanks for commenting everyone!
