What is your line during hard times?

When things get tough and you have hit the lowest point, what is something you affirm to yourself?

I always repeat "I can handle anything" while breathing into my belly.

Is their mantra you would like to share?

    Strange question

Although, if something is bothering me, then I always sing that song in my head:

"everybody knows about the bird. Bird, bird, bird, word is the word" From family guy.

Always makes me laugh and put things into perspective.

Seriously though, happiness is just a state of mind - Your can create it in seconds, no matter what the circumstances!

I couldn't agree more, Steven. You can really create happiness in just seconds! Haha. Glad to be in the same side as you are.

I say to myself that this means that an opportunity will present itself soon
so I must prepare. Then I pretend that I'm already grateful for everything
I have and for everything that I am. The reason why I pretend is that you
want to feel good and pretending is one of the effective ways for me to
    just "feel good."

According to Natalie Ledwell of Mind Movies, Lee Brower, Jack Canfield,
Hale Dwoskin and many other LoA gurus, feeling good a.k.a. being grateful
is what really kicks off and starts the Law of Attraction to bring the things
you want in your life into your present reality.

But I now, I'm currently training myself to just feel good for no reason at
all. That's because being unatttached to any outcome is one of the ultimate
state you should be in when achieving your goals according to Jake of
    Stop Giving A F**k.

    Love this stuff.

    1. I think of all of the success books I read - Main trait of successful people - The ability to withstand massive amounts of discomfort
    2. I immediately go into a 10 minute gratitude immersion session - Reciting everything that is awesome in my life
    3. 4 minutes of reciting accomplishments
    4. A fast paced (usually techno or the song "cannable" by Kesha) song follows
    5. Lastly, I take time and try to enjoy the fact that I have emotions, and that they tell me when I need to upgrade my mind or my strategy

    Great thread.

I love these tips especially number 1 and 2!! Tip number one for acknowledging myself and other IMers who chose to live the life of their dreams and avoid mediocrity. Remember guys that what we are doing is a NOBLE CAUSE. For whom??? For ourselves... I have a high respect for people who spends time each day to make his/her dreams come true. It's the essence of the human spirit... to do what we want to do because of passion and love. Doing something because it what makes us feel alive and human. Believing in something because it excites us! That for me is a truly commendable and respectable act. I love you guys and let us hold on to our dreams wherever they may take us.

The second is more on a serious note...I use it when people around me start complaining about how "things suck".....I usually tell them " hey look it could have been worse, you could have been on flight 800" ( or pick any of the other air disasters that you can relate to)

I always remind myself, "It's not over yet" (meaning "the whole game," not the bad situation, is "not over yet").

Sometimes, I also ask myself, "What's the worst that could happen in this situation?" Sometimes, admittedly, what I come up with is pretty terrible. But then I pick apart the worst that could happen, until it seems conquerable, or at least manageable.

I grew up as a poor person so whenever life throws curve balls at me, i just remember where i am coming from and how much my grandparents and mother sacrificed so i can be where i am today and i just pick myself up, dust myself off and just say "the race is not for the swift but who can endure". I just picture myself living comfortable one day and that is motivation for me. Employ the two p's-Perseverance, Persistence.

You can try afformations when you are faced with a tough situation. Afformations are affirmations which are worded in the form of questions. When you repeat an affirmation, you will face resistance from your mind because you know that it is not true.

However, if you reword it as a question, then your mind habitually starts seeking answers to that question. Hence you shift the focus of your mind from negative to positive without meeting the internal resistance as in the case of affirmations.

Here is an example - "I can handle any situation with ease".

This is an affirmation. When you repeat that you mind is going to say, "Really? You don't look at ease right now?". Your brain is going to laugh at these affirmations.

However, if you make it as a question - "Why can I handle any situation with complete ease and poise?"

Try asking that question to yourself a few times right now and see the difference in how you feel.

If you want to know more about afformations, just Google it or else go to the site iafform.com (I am not related to this site in any way, just wanted to share something nice with you folks).

I think that the hard times are just a way of life telling you it's time to change. Something's not right, you have to make it right.
I also think about the movies, specially the parts where everything is going wrong and things suddenly work out, cause they do.
I remind myself that there is no point in bringing yourself down, and only you have the power to lift yourself up.
Remember that you must learn something out of these hard times and there's no situation in life that pointless or that you can make something out of those.
