Men Have Dreams That Women Will Never Understand...

While watching a Japanese animation about two high school students that decided to achieve their dreams and began to actively pursue it by working after school, I felt inspired and pumped up because they were really working hard to balance working on their dreams and going to school.

Their dream was to create a popular Japanese comics series and live off it. In Japan, the famous comics authors are really rich so they wanted to become one of those.

One of the protagonists told his mother about his decision to pursue his dream. But the mother told him that it's rubbish and it will never work out. The protagonist eventually convinced his mother to at least mention this to his father since he usually doesn't see him because of the father's work.

Then the next day, his mother went to his son's room and the following dialogue took place:

Mom: Moritaka, I already spoke with your father.

Son: Really...? What did he say??

Mom: He said, "Let him be... Men have dreams that women will never
understand."

When I heard that, I just thought how true it is for me. My mother disapproving of my dream while my father being cool with it.

How about you guys? What are your opinions about this?? Thanks in advance!

Not true, since my wife has been the biggest backer of my dreams. Some people encourage dreaming while others like nothing better than to wake other people up!

I think dreaming is useful. We should all dream, and not be ashamed of our dreams!

I think that some people just don't get it.

It's more accurate to say that the naysayers just haven't experienced what you have.

When people think of the interenet, they think of LOLcats and chain emails. It's hard to convince people that there really is a thriving money making marketplace on here.

Oh, yeah I get you. The girl who liked me said that she believes in my dream and that I will succeed. She just knows it she says.

I know, Lazy! Haha. Too bad for them though. Any successful entrepreneur would recognize the almighty power of the internet when it come to generating revenue. On our part, we just have to believe in ourselves and in our dreams day by day, moment by moment and breath by breath.

Aye, the life of a swashbuckler says I.

P.S. Just checked the dictionary on the definition of swashbuckler and it defines it as "A reckless impetuous irresponsible person." But I don't agree with it. I define it as someone who is lives life with passion and adventure.

    Hi Alfonso,

I think each person's perception of goals or dreams are not dependent on their gender. It is based more on their belief, their upbringing, their environment, and their perception of the world and their own capabilities.

When I was growing up, most people have the perception that I would not amount to anything significant (I guess it's partly my fault as I was extremely introverted back then). When I was doing IM, most people think I'm wasting my time.

But that didn't stop me from pursuing my dreams because I know what I truly want in my life. I have read books and courses, and fortunately met successful people, who changed my way of thinking.

I don't think it is a male or female issue it is a perception issue.

To someone who has never made a dollar online the idea of it being a goldmine is the same as a sunken treasure ship adventure. Until THEY actually produce revenue or at least try they won't get it and the dream you may have will appear as a pie in the sky thing
People are funny now if you were to say you know my dream is to be a millionaire before I a x yrs of age I already make money and to show you I am not chasing a dream I will show YOU how to make money too.

It really all depends on the person perceiving your dream to begin with but that is a pretty good way to shut em down
    cheers

I think it is unfair to stereo type gender in to this. I think men and women equally can believe in something or could be pessimist. This was just one example. I know many men and women in my life who believe in following dreams and other men and women like to stay secured. It is not gender based, it is how you were raised that may make a difference. My 2 cents.

      Cool post Alfonso

Me personally, my family is the biggest supporter for me, especially my little brother (he is taller than me LOL) 'cause he has the same mindset of achieving big things in life.

To mention a broader range, I think we can say that "let them be, people have dreams that others will never understand"

The tellers' sex is not important, the problem is in their mindset...

Oops, I guess I meant to say "femi-nazi". I would be pretty terrible at that. I'm all for equality, though.

Back to the topic at hand, I still say that it's all about the mindset. Sure, the different genders are brought up slightly differently. But of course, women (in most countries) are taught how to read now, so we have just as much chance of getting some good information as anybody else. In the end, it's all about how far you're willing to go to pursue your passion, while still remaining true to yourself.

I agree. Men not only have dreams that women will never understand, but thoughts, feelings, ideas, expectations and words.

    And vice versa.

There's a great book about this, now a little old but still relevant. It's "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" by John Gray.

You just have to remember most people don't think of the big picture. They are content with there lives the way it is and don't want change, so when you start thinking about big things, they disapprove because it's not the normal.

This is where internet marketing comes into play haha, your sales pitch to convince them(show them photoshopped bank statements)

I have dreams that I don't even understand lol, I have read esoterically different topics in dreams have different meanings.

Like a dream about flying, is connected to a desire to explore yourself or the world, a need to be set free.

I don't know enough on the topic, but I know there are many people who study dreams very seriously and scientifically for understanding of oneself and others.

I loved what the internet has done for the world.

It has opened up limitless amount of opportunities
      for entrepreneurs around the world.

All you need is an idea, and $7.99 for a domain name,

50 years ago, you couldn't start a business without
having at least $20,000 as a starting investment.

Now, with the internet, a 16 year old teen in the
Philippines can begin earning an income from the
      internet by writing articles.

I love it because it creates a path for people to
      actively create their incomes themselves.

Sometimes the deepest truths, are the most valid.

Quite simply: "if there is a will, there is a way".

Ironically, in my relationship, I am the one doing all the dreaming and my guy just wants to go along with whatever I want to do. So I don't think that sex has anything to do with it. As Ronald said, it is all about upbringing. I am raised as an achiever in a highly hectic city setting while my boyfriend is raised in a passive family that goes along with whatever life brings them. Just my 2 cents.

Hmm in my situation it was completely the opposite. It was my mother who encouraged me to chase my dreams and it was my father who was worried and said I had to get a 'serious' job before I threw myself in to society. He wanted me to do things I never really wanted.

At the same time my mother said: As long as you are happy, I am happy!

Well my girlfriend totally supports me and even helps me get some work done(free outsourcing ) While my other guy friend's used to make fun of me until one day i showed them my paypal. (Wasnt easy getting there but it was totally worth all the countless hour's doing useless seo work and never realizing what i had been missing and then finally getting it right ) It's different people with different opinion's, not a gender thing for sure... At the end of the day, it's upto you to decide your direction in life...And don't let other people let you down, i mean they have their opinion and you have yours, They wont listen to yours and you wont listen to theirs...End of the story!
