Whose Life Are You Living?

Your friends'? Parents'?

Are your goals, YOUR goals?

Decide to live the life of your dreams. Not your parent's dreams. Not your friend's dreams. Not societies' dreams.

Never seek goals because "that's what your supposed to do" - ie, get married, have a job, buy a home with a picket fence. Doing "what your supposed to do" is acting according to Sheeple-Speak.

So, are your goals, YOUR goals?

I understand that you are talking about being influenced by other people. However, many times our own goals are not the best goals we could have.

I had totally different goals when I was very young. My destiny obliged me to change my mind. Then, I realized that my previous goals were very empty, and I should care about what is really important in life.

I live an amazing life everyday. And I really like who I am.

Those two things alone are so far removed from where I grew up, my childhood might as well have been on another planet.

Big questions. Many of us vintage people made up our minds long ago when we heard songs like this that suggested we not be someone else, but rather be who we are.

I was just thinking about this very topic this morning! I think that sometimes we fear being isolated from loved ones if we pursue goals that take us off the typical path. Here is a link to an article about a Korean man who wanted to be an artist when his parents wanted him to be a doctor or lawyer. Despite the objections of being broke, he went after what he wanted.

He talks about taking a leap of faith in pursuing your dreams.

Right now, I'm living my parents' dream and at the same time... doing everything I can to succeed online. I CAN DO IT BECAUSE I AM SUCCESSFUL!

Nice post. I'm living my dream... many people don't follow their dreams which is a mistake on so many levels. Often when you follow your dreams you actually find out that it's not all that it's cracked up to be!

Gosh, I'm 35 and I haven't lived the life that I dream of. I have an obligation to fulfill and that is the only thing that keeps me from pursuing my life's goals. I'm single and I'm the breadwinner in the family. I have an aged mother to take care of. I hope I can work toward realizing my goals soon. I'm working hard to make this happen. Thanks for reminding me that I have my own life to live and my own dreams to fulfill. Sometimes, I forget this.
