    Hello Vincent,

Helping others is part and parcel of what I do offline. :-) No feeling is better than one you get after being able to lift a person's spirit, help them realise that they're able to achieve what they put their mind and actions to as well as sharing with them the infinite and abundant opportunities that lay ahead.

That's why I'm into empowerment and personal change - to help my fellow citizens break the vicious and obscure cycle.

Yes, as long as we still live in this world. Loving people and helping them should be our goal. That is the second command of Jesus, to love your neighbor.

Most will admit having their own primary goals, yet secondarily the goal would be to enable the benefit of themselves which often involves others.

Financially driven? Will impact your family and friends - thus helping others.
Success driven? Will impact those who love and care about you.
Whatever drives you - those in your inner life also benefit - so help can be a direct passion or an indirect result of another passion in life.

Bottom line - follow your passion to provide leadership and positive impact on those you care about and others in your circle of life.

I once got into a debate with my psychology professor years ago. He was making the point that we are all driven by our selfish id, no matter what we think otherwise. I didn't agree with him back then but I do now. That said, just like we are tempted to lie sometimes, we are also tempted to think only about ourselves and not others. And just like we can tell the truth and we know instinctively that it's the right thing to do, we also know that we should help others.

In addition to many charities we support, here is something that I'm working on:
    Drumming.org

It's got a long way to go but I'm excited about it's potential.

    Hi Vincent,

I intend to help others and myself.

By helping others I maintain balance. By helping myself - studying and applying personal development principles each day - I improve my life and the lives of people around me.

I see to be rich on spiritual, mental and material levels.

    Thanks for sharing with us.

Helping others has ALWAYS been my passion, even when I was a pre-teen and all I could do was volunteer my time with local charities. I finally realized though that helping others doesn't necessarily have to equal a life of financial lack, and that financial resources enable me to help others even more.

    Great topic!

To help others is a dream for everyone, it is a pleasure to extend help with others, but others keep on asking how, since they don't have an idea on how to do this. Me, I always seek ways on how to do this, because this is my passion and I really love this passion I love to see people smiling at you after you extend your generous hand.

Most definitely. Especially in the IM game, it's easy to make a "quick buck" if you don't have a moral compass. It's much more time consuming to actually approach it from the "helping people first" side, but I feel it is more rewarding and a better long-term business strategy.

If you believe in Karma helping others should be your goal. Also Zig always said you can get all you want by giving others all they want (or something similar).

By helping yourself you are helping others. If you keep yourself in shape and healthy, no one has to take care of you, you can help take care of others; if you make yourself wealthy you don't have to depend on others for handouts and welfare, you can help others in need; if you make yourself a better person by reading, learning and self-development then you won't be a burden on society you can help society.

As it says in the bible God helps them who help themselves. If you work at and take care of yourself you will succeed and in succeeding you will be able to help others succeed.

The true goal in life is to become successful so you can teach and help others become successful, not to give they handouts and take care of them. In not teaching them to become a better person and succeed on their own and just giving them things and becoming dependent on you is creating a slave not an independent successful person.

Personally, my goal is to help myself first so I'm in a position to help others. If you're sad, financially poor, and in a bad general state it's very hard to help others in any meaningful way.

It's like the airline oxygen mask instructions... put the mask on your face first... then your childs. If you pass out you and your child are both doomed.

See what I mean. And yes I love helping people!

I think selling and or creating a product that help people it a good business model. "You can do well by doing good" not sure who said that. I also believe it is good for our society if we help each other without a profit motive as well.

I believe in helping others and have done so over the years. One thing I have discovered is to help others who are prepared to help themselves. You want to make an impact in people's lives and the only way you can make an impact is when people are prepared to be impacted upon.

The way I see it, everyone has to make a living, whether it's flipping burgers or sales, or marketing. What i tell any new hire to my flooring company is that if you don't love the work, don't waste my time or yours. My approach to sales is simply seeing if what i love to do is a fit for what someone wants or needs.
The trick is believing in the right mindset. Once that is accomplished, helping others comes as part of the package.

My wife asked me what was my dream in life (because I kept pestering her about fulfilling her dreams) and the only thing I could come up with was "Helping other people realize their dreams and helping others become successful!"

When I think about it, that truly IS at the heart of everything that I do.

She thought that was kind of odd, but it's all I can come up with and by helping others succeed, I feel a sense of accomplishment and I am rewarded financially and emotionally for what I do.

I guess that's why I am so happy, because my goals are mostly selfless in a way (although I do get something out of it I guess).

Good topic. I haven't been on here in a while, so it's good to see a topic like this.

For me, helping others hasn't been so much of a GOAL in my life. It's been more of a WAY of life - I've always been drawn to doing what I can to help others.

All my adult-life jobs were "helping" jobs - career coaching, working w/ clients on various forms of assistance, working to help high school students decide on a career path, etc.

I'm not sure how or why I gravitated to that type of lifestyle - it just seemed like the natural thing to do, and still does.

I truly believe that helping or adding value has to come first. It should be your central mission....whether it setting up websites or filing taxes or selling pizzas.

So many people focus on just the dollar signs and yet ironically, when you take the focus off of money and just focus on the service, the money will circulate towards you in greater volume. If your mantra in every situation is "How May I Serve?" and not "How Can I Make More Money?" you not only will experience more positive psychological benefits from helping others but you find more prosperity coming into your life even when the focus is not on money.

What could be better than helping someone else?

It doesn't matter who you are, or how much you have, we all end up in the ground with our friends shoveling dirt on our face. Your family, friends, and the people you help are really the only things you leave behind that matter.

I think if you leave behind a lot of people that say to themselves, "That guy really made my life better. I'm grateful I knew him.", you've had a good life.
