Best Personal Development Book You've Ever Read?

What is the best personal development book you've ever read? Was there one book you've read that has changed your life more than others (and that you would recommend)?

For me, it's the classic "How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. Although right now, I'm reading "Become A Better You: 7 Keys To Improving Your Life Every Day" By Joel Osteen and so far, I love it just as much .

It isn't really a typical 'self help' book, but it did change my view on life drastically, in a good sense. It makes you see what life truly is, it makes you grateful in life and it made me doing the things I've always wanted to do!

One Personal Development book that resonated with me is "An Iron Will" by Orison Swett Marden.

(I like that fact that it focuses on taking action, rather than "LOA.")

You probably didn't know this but Orison was one of the first personal development, positive thinking, and new thought authors. He founded "Success Magazine"—one of the first of its kind—in 1897 and "An Iron Will" was first published 30 years before "Think And Grow Rich."

"Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill
I've read every book on this thread and a year ago I started backwards engineering things and wound up at the source of Think and Grow Rich...but with a hitch. To break through all the baggage I've accumulated over the past 40 years, I found myself having to read TAGR 5 times before it finally sunk in. Then I bought a 9-cd-set of Napoleon's original speeches recorded in the 1950's and I listen to at LEAST an hour a day on my iPod. See, it's not only about what success book you read...it's about repetitiously reading or listening over and over and over again.

Mine has to be "The Dark Side of the Light Chasers," by Debbie Ford.

It's all about reclaiming your power, creativity, brilliance and dreams. This should be a must-read for women like me who came of age at a time when women depended on men to make decision and "handle things."

When reading this book, I realized that I always gave the broken piece of pie to myself, took care of everyone but myself.

I also realized that some of my traits that I considered weaknesses might just be strengths and qualities.

      Thanks for the question...

Excellent topic! I use to take a Tai' Chi class many years ago and the instructor had martial art books for sale and one caught my eye by George Leonard called, "Mastery: The Keys to Success and Long-Term Fulfillment." As far as personal development goes, this book was a real winner! It taught me to relax and flow with what I was doing in life and enjoy the moment.

    The Sermon On The Mount

    Interpreted by Emmet Fox

I don't read the Bible often because of the old style language. This book takes the Sermon On The Mount (from the book of Matthew) and breaks it down so anyone can understand it. This is literally the bluprint for the law of attractinn.

Psssst... But don't tell the non-believers.
