Success And Limiting Beliefs

Although it's different for everyone, something that helped me was to realize that I was being held back by limiting beliefs.

Because I realized that (and figured out why I wanted to be "successful") taking action became simple and a lot less hard work. It's kind of like trying to drive with a heavy trailer: Once you release it, everything moves faster. :-)

People often talk about taking "Massive action." And "You have to be determined." What works for me is taking small actions and building on them to create momentum.

People may be trying massively to be "successful" while I'm quietly working on my goals without all the resistance. Part of the secret to this is something I shared here. (Basically write down everything you want and everything you're afraid of.)

Throwing it out to the masses. :-)

Yeah, small actions lead to bigger and actions and momentum in my experience. And those pesky limiting beliefs really do play a role in how we see reality and respond to it.

I notice if I just take one small step the next step is easier until finally I notice I'm full of momentum not knowing exactly when it happened.

I too have done the writing down what I want as well as corresponding fears exercise and found it to be extremely helpful in exposing limiting beliefs. Some of the fears that get written down are so ridiculous the mind seems to just drop them once it realizes that's what it was thinking!

I've also found it helpful to do strong, full body affirmations on the opposite of the limiting beliefs. So if the belief is work is hard and takes my energy, I'll affirm again and again with total certainty that work is easy and energizing. Has worked very well for me!

Hey - Thanks for the contribution, Andrew. It's a simple exercise, but it definitely is useful.

Thank you! I totally agree. Sometimes the things we have to do are like a huge mountain but when we break them into small easy steps, we bring clarity to it and work more effectively.
It's funny today I was talking to a friend who's a real procrastinator and today he decided to finally end his membership to an online service he hasn't been using in more than a year. He just had a phone call to give but he procrastinated this for a whole year. He told me he lost 400€ because he procrastinated a phone call! Making this phone call was finally so "easy" that he took action on a lot of other stuff. It's really like a shift in our mind. A button to turn on or something. And yeah, it works.

I agree with you although people have different views on success. Thank you for sharing.

Even though you made this a parenthetical phrase, it may be one of the most important parts of your observation. I've recently determined my "why" and it has really given me the motivation to get through the hard or frustrating or new or (whatever) parts of a project.

And, yes, I'm moving forward by taking "baby steps," especially in the areas that are hard or frustrating or...well, you know.

    Thanks for your encouragement.

Doing the things you are afraid to do the most instantly change your limiting beliefs around. Instantly, cause the mind can't neglect real results in life.

    Thanks for the post
