The law of attraction as it was explained in the secret.. didn't have much of the meat you need. It still requires further study once you are exposed to the law. A gateway concept. The book, movie ,and audio stuff. That was all tools to revitalize what was a flagging motivational industry.

The lay of attraction is real. But in my view of it it is not a law meant to spoil the child. This is a growing and expanding universe. the events attracted into your life are meant to cause growth and expansion. not the instant gratification the secret my have sold.

The basic flaw in all this is that the Law Of Attraction is not a Law like the Law Of Gravitation that they compare it to. Newton's Law's can be demonstrated by anyone - drop an object and its acceleration will be exactly as the Law predicts. And this really does "always work every time" - that's why it's a Law. The "Law Of Attraction" as they call it just doesn't work that way.

Although having a positive attitude, being confident, believing in your own success etc is a definite advantage, and should be encouraged, having positive thoughts will not send out magic brainwave frequencies that change reality around you. This brainwave "magnetic signature" as one person called it, never goes out, any time.

      Not in the real world.

This is a hilarious review of the film: http://mikesweeklyskepticrant.blogsp...me-victim.html

Massive book! If you've never read Napoleon Hill's work before.. Start off with Think and Grow Rich first. This book is awesome and will make reading the Law of Success more enjoyable and understandable.

I highly recommend the Law of Success, but highly suggest you read Think and Grow Rich first. You'll thank me for it. :-)

This is because he got his Law Of Attraction info directly from people like John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, etc. Not only that, The Law Of Attraction is only ONE of the many laws at work in the Universe to create success -- which is something that isn't talked about by self-help authors of today.
Good point on Napoleon Hill - most people don't know that it took him 20 years to compile his materials, either.

I will watch the video when I get home as im leaving now. But I can tell you that the law of attraction is real. I have had a great deal of visualizations come about in ways that prove it works.

However, it's not easy to get rid of limiting thoughts. I can manifest things that I have no attachment to fairly accurately. The objects I choose to manifest always come to me within days to months. Period. I have only had 1 or 2 things out of dozens that have not manifested. They usually come when I forget about the object I desire.

The key here is the following:

    1. Visualize with all of your senses involved in first person. Emotion plays a big part here. You need to some how get some strong positive emotions tied in with the visualization. Touch the object you want, feel it, smell it, hear it etc. Just make it as vivid as possible like real life. I play music during these "mind movies" that gives me goosebumps and I have the best success when doing this. Problem is im running out of songs lately that make me feel that way

    2. After doing step 1 for say 5-10 minutes before bed. Before bed is the best time because your entering Alpha. Next is you simply know it's coming much like a doctors appointment. You don't look for it or wait for it. Just know it's coming. Be grateful for having it and just detach from it.

Now you can visualize the end result of your manifestation every night if you wish. Just detach from it during the other times of the day.

So basically visualize, believe and know it's already manifested. You follow these steps with simple objects you have no attachment to and watch the objects come to you in ways you would never expect.

If your desperate to get something (money) your always looking for it. When your looking for it your doubting that it's manifested which kills your manifestation. It's tricky stuff and I have not mastered it on things I really want yet simply because I really want them.

Well I take that back....one huge thing manifested for me that I really wanted!! But it was only after I detached from it that it came.

    Hope this helps

      Corey,

you did a brilliant job here of explaining the paradox that you really have to see, feel touch and allow yourself to feel the desire of what you are wanting
yet to allow it to arrive you have to trust and let go- detach

you are right its easier to manifest the stuf youre not so attached to sometimes, cos its easier to have the attitude of 'playing' with it

wen we get all serious or stressed as many do around money
it gets really difficult to play the LOA to the advantage that we feel we 'desperately need'

      thanks for reminding me

It was touched on here, but it's the way paradoxes work that really show why people have found success in this way.

This is the other half people are either unaware of or never apply.

It's constantly pushed to stay focused, think of it all the time, work toward it every day, that the OTHER half of this "law" is rarely applied with the intention to apply it in this manner. You need to utilize the other side of the manifestation paradox to see results really come.

I find the Law of Attraction incomplete.

There's more to know, more to apply, more to do.

The 1st half of manifesting what you want everyone really knows. You need to show you want, whatever it is, in your actions, your thoughts, your emotions, your behavior. Any way you can express it. As well also brought up, craft and create that future memory. As real as you can make it. The sounds, smells, the heat of the sun on you, any conversation that might be going on in that moment. Make it as vivid as your clearest memory.

The OTHER side is that you must let go. Forget about it. You are in NO position to handle how it happens or comes into being. That job is for powers greater than you. So you must let it go. In this way you're not applying half of an equation anymore. It's just a functioning part of how things work. Put it out of your mind.

You can't fool the Universe. You must first prove you want this so badly you're going to reflect it in everything you are, think, and do, then let it go so it can do it's job.

      The world can only reflect.

    Whatever you focus on, expands.

Those who are out to disprove theories don't fully believe in their take on how things work. If they were 100% clear on their version of life, they wouldn't shoot videos like these Your feelings are a mirror.

Focus on what does work instead of what doesn't work.

Choose thoughts. These thoughts create feelings that attract similar thoughts, feelings, people, circumstances to help create the predominant mental picture held in your mind.

Simple process, really. Some call it LOA. Some call it the creative process. I call it Life.

To me, words like "motivation" and "discipline" are synonymous with detachment from your true self...

You don't need motivation or discipline to do what you like or are naturally inclined to do. And doing what you're naturally inclined to do should be your number one goal in life in my opinion...

When it come to choosing thoughts or monitoring thoughts. in a way it is a fool errand. What you monitor is how thought make you feel. most pass through your mind before any level of emotion is registered. It is the stuff the sticks in your craw. creates an emotion or a physical reaction that you need to monitor and choose between.

I agree with you. Monitoring your feelings is way easier than monitoring your thoughts. Do you know how many thoughts you have in a single day?

Training your mind and controlling your thoughts is no different than training your body. If you want to become good at something what do you do? You train!

If you want to be a good martial artist you train; if you want to be a GREAT martial artist you train really hard; if you want to be the GREATEST martial artist you train really, really, really hard!

If you want to be great at computers you study and practice, the better you want to become the more you practice. This is true for anything you want to become great at; you NEED to study and practice; it just doesn’t come to you without effort of some type.

Far too many people just want things handed to them on a silver platter and heaven help them if they have to expend any effort whatsoever to develop the skill needed or earn the reward they want.

NOTHING comes to you without effort; if you want to breathe you need to use the muscles in your chest to suck the air into your body; if you want to eat you need to move the muscles in your jaws and throat to bring the food into your body.

Anything you want to accomplish requires effort, just because you are unwilling to expend that effort to achieve the reward does not mean it cannot be done or it doesn’t exist.

That is saying oxygen doesn’t exist because you cannot see it; you breathe and you live so you accept that it exists; but you still cannot see it.

Everyone is entitled to believe what they want, but to say something doesn’t exist because you feel it’s impossible to control your thoughts doesn’t mean someone else cannot control their thoughts.

I saw a man break 6 large blocks of ice with only his hand; most people couldn’t do it because they haven’t conditioned their mind to do so. When asked how he was able to break all those blocks with one blow of his open hand, he said it was all in the mind and the belief you can do it.

I think what he is missing .. is that most people train their bodies so they can perform without much thought. That is the key to training making things automatic. and the masters of martial arts and meditation focus on letting as many thoughts go as possible.

You can train your mind.. That goes without question. but you cannot control every thought that comes through your mind. Training your mind effects how much traction certain types of though grow in your mind.

I think the guy in the video gets J.K. Rowling's intentions wrong. While he is correct that she didn't originally visualize this huge success, the success she achieved is a by-product of a really positive original intention. The being, creating a fantasy world she can escape to (she started HP while being a single mom and broke, writing the story while in a coffee house passing time), and that she wanted to share this fantasy world with others and that they enjoy it.

I'm am sure that if she was only mildly successful with it, and not a billionaire, she still would have been happy because that was her intention and she would have succeeded with it.

I did watch the video and go to the guys website and watch his stuff. I Read one of his books about 5 years ago .. He has a point . I believe the law of attraction is real. but the way it is presented to the masses is a bit diluted.

the problem with telling people that they can get anything they want . Stems from the fact most people have no clue what they want a majority of the time. Many time they will list off socially acceptable things to want. Or list wants that will impress the teacher who told them to list the wants.

How many times have you listened to a motivation course and written down goals..when the first one was .. make a million dollars.

My view of the law of attraction is not based off of bringing certain stuff into your life because you wanted it . My view revolves around a concept like this.. i feel a certain way on a regular basis. I will bring events into my life that keep me feeling this certain way.

So If you want to feel better it is backwards to try to attract stuff into your life to make you feel that way . because you will just attract other stuff to keep you feeling like you do now. you have to work on feeling better. chose better feeling . let better feeling thoughts go . let negative thoughts go .

I am no master at this .. it is damn hard. but it is not voodoo. I have recently gone from an underling feeling of being stuck that has been there for most of my life. to a feeling of being in transition. there is a lot of relief involved when you go from thinking about the conditions you are in ..then flip around and feel better as you think of where you want to be.

Sorry if i sound like i am channeling Abraham haha.

From my observations, there are 2 main angles from which people approach the law of attraction. People who believe there is more than we see, and people who don't.

But really it doesn't matter which one you are. Even the ruthless pragmatist can't deny that he will become what he thinks about. It will affect his decisions and therefore steer his life.

The approach of changing your thoughts is equally valuable whether you believe that you are doing it solely yourself or that the universe is moving things for you. The same thing happens.

You become what you work towards whether you think about it or not. I know many LOA failures who took no action and failed and I know many people who have never heard of the LOA and would think it is BS who work relentlessly and are quite successful. It is the action that matters. That being said there is benefit to a positive attitude and visualizing and planning what you will take action on

    Faith without work/action is dead.

Two of the teachers in The Secret Movie are John Assaraf & Jack Canfield. Both are massively successful entrepreneurs, and they worked with great focus and effort to achieve their success.

John Assaraf owned a multi-billion dollar producing real estate business and Jack Canfield is the co-creator of the Chicken Soup book series. They built those businesses with effort, not just thinking in the big bucks.

The Secret wasn't balanced. The author was clearly influenced by Earl Nightengale's The Strangest Secret, which taught "We become what we think about." However, it also taught about work and taking action, which The Secret movie didn't do very much of at all.

    Belief + action.

Actually, Orison S. Marden, James Allen & Wallace D. Wattles preceded Napoleon Hills's work. Marden began writing on the subject back in the 1800's & according to Napoleon Hill, Marden's books were huge sellers and were adopted as part of school curriculum here in the U.S. (Millions of Marden's books have been sold.)

The author of The Secret says Wattles was her inspiration for the movie. However, clearly The Strangest Secret offered at minimum, inspiration for the title of her work, but clearly more than that when you compare the content of both.

I haven't read the Law of Success, but I've read Think & Grow Rich, and my favorite by Napoleon Hill (& W. Clement Stone) "Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude."

Napoleon Hill talked about "going the extra mile," "self-discipline," "Applied faith," etc,.. Taking action was definitely part of his success formula.

As the others have already brought up, there are many ways to interpret what may be called the "Law of Attraction".

In any science, it's almost impossible to prove something DOESN'T work. All you can really prove is that it didn't work in "such and such" a case.

Proving something DOES work, or at least works in certain circumstances, is the only thing you can do.

In my own life, I have proven (to myself, at least) that what many are calling the LOA does work, and that it depends on BELIEF more than THOUGHT or EMOTION.

Although I generally don't like to bring up religious quotes, the one that really hits home for me is "according to your faith is it done unto you."

What I've found, which echos what many others have also found, is that our experiences in life are like a mirror -- they reflect back to us the sum total of our beliefs. The reason many of us don't see this is because we have conflicting beliefs on different levels, and the surface beliefs, the ones we see more easily, are actually the weakest beliefs in the system.

I offer a free report on my website that goes into more detail, but there has actually been quite a bit of scientific exploration of this topic, and the science proves that the LOA works, when certain conditions are met.

The real "Secret" is in the Book of Proverbs. With billions of testimonies it continues to stand the test of time, 6,000 plus years and counting.

And written by King Solomon, who had so much wealth, the Queen of Sheba (histories first woman billionaire) fainted at the sight of it.
        (2 Chronicles 9: 3 - 5)

I've yet to find a success book, program or seminar top that.

You are so bang on here:
it amazes me how many people seem to think that law of attraction means you jus sit on your arse or lie on the beach and dream bout what you want

if you actually read hicks or dooley or anyone worth their salt and talking genuinely bout this topic, they all mention taking action
      dooley calls it 'baby steps'
Abraham-hicks focus is simply that if you want your physical action to bear the fruit you want then take the time to get your thoughts and feelings into 'alignment'
      do the inner work first
but nowhere do they imply dont take any action

When it comes to J.K. Rowling's, I agree with Gordon. She may not have had her mind set from the beginning to rock the world; however, she clearly had her mind set on success. She found something that she was passionate about and chose to share it with people - and make money doing so of course. Our mind set is a powerful thing. As Gordon said, we don't know what she was thinking. However, she believed in herself enough to create the book, and look for publishers. Imagine how many people out there have written books but did not have the courage to get it published. So her belief in herself, and her work, definitely start the chain.

We all use stepping stones. When you started out in the IM world. You probably did not have $200,000 a month or even $10,000 a month as your starting point. Maybe you started with $100 a day as your goal. As your confidence grew, your mind also expanded with the possibilities.

The mind is definitely a powerful tool, the more you learn to use it, the more successful you will be. But as scortillion pointed out, you cannot literally think yourself thin or think yourself rich. You have to use your mind (or as he said) train your mind - and put in the effort.

It's clear in marketing that people want the easy way, the click button version of IM, the no diet version to get thin; however, the millionaires did not get to be millionaires but sitting around the house thinking of becoming a millionaire - they worked at it and continue to work at it.

So, if I'm not observing gravity it doesn't work for me? That explains why when someone rolls off the bed while they are sleeping, they hit the ceiling.

I believe that any law can be transcended. It's only our belief in laws that makes them manifest.

My main issue with the law of attraction is that it teaches people that their mind controls everything in their lives. But that's only theory. People want to feel like they're in total control of their destiny, but fail to realize that there are factors over which they have absolutely no control.

Thank for the support Brett. I'm kinda surprised nobody even heard of his work. I like how he focuses on finding your true path instead of trying to force the universe to give you what you want.

Here's my main issue with how the law of attraction is being taught. I do believe in the principle of reciprocity, that there is a correlation between what seems to be the outside world and what's going on on the inside. What I disagree with, however, is the belief that you can order anything from the catalog of experiences simply by following a step by step formula that is applicable by anyone and that works every time for every situation.

My other issue is that people completely dismiss the times the law of attraction doesn't work and blame it on themselves. The either blame it on their lack of belief or say that their wishes weren't in alignment with their true selves. But could there be a possibility that you just weren't meant to get that thing you wished for?

      I think the same..

I have always thought of it as this; the law of gravity was always there. The effects of that law never changed before or after we discovered it, but it was not until man realized and understood it that we learned to fly using the very same principals of that law.

Hey Chris. How's your day going?

    Serious question.

What's life been like for you? What mentalities have you carried? Where you are right now is a culmination of your life's mentalities and the decisions that you made. Change one thing and the world would be different for you - butterfly effect and all that.

I notice you say one should accept their thoughts rather than trying to control them. Sounds to me like someone who rolls with the tides and goes with the flow. Nothing wrong with that - life is ever changing and the ability to adapt to changes is imminent. But let me ask you - have you ever been discontent? Disappointed? Sad? Angry? Depressed? Filled with rage and hate? What did you do about it? Did you accept yourself as you were in that negative state, or did you stand up and make a change?

Something tells me it's the latter. I don't know what kind of experiences you've actually had, but I say this because you're human, and everyone has experienced negativity and loss. I'd venture to say that when you got into those states, you did something about it. Action requires change of thought. You took control of your mind, and therefore, your life.

You probably knew that staying in those angry states, you'd breed more negativity, right? Ever had a really sh*tty day where it feels like one thing after another goes wrong, for no particular reason other than because they can? What you focus on expands. You focus on how angry you are, how much of a bitch that person's being, how people are constantly screwing you over... and it never seems to change, only gets worse, longer you stay in that situation.

You stand up and make a change. You take control. You dump what isn't working, find a new set of playmates, whatever. That begins in the mind. You say things are going to be different and you set out to make that happen.

This is the law of attraction.

You can do whatever you want. YOU create YOUR surroundings. You have the power in your life to accomplish whatever you so wish. If it's YOU who's stopping you, it's on YOUR shoulders to figure out why. Know yourself. Learn about your darkside. The only way to know why things are the way they are and why you act in certain ways is to embrace yourself completely, which will involve digging up every unconscious skeleton you've buried. Everyone has them (and I have MORE than my fair share).

If the term "law of attraction" sounds hokey to you, don't use it. Some people prefer to call the man behind the curtain God, I prefer to say the Universe. Others prefer Fate or Destiny. Call it Life, law of humanity, millionaire mindset, whatever. I hope you achieve your goals.

    Hi Emily,

I actually believe that you create everything in your life, however, I don't think that those things are separate from you, and this is one of the problems I have with the law of attraction.

I also think that there's an hidden intention that really dictates what happens in your life, not your active thoughts. You can choose to call it the subconscious if you want to rationalize it, but I prefer not to give it a name. And when I say "intention", I do not mean it in the sense of "I intend to do so and so today and it's going to happen", I'm talking about something bigger than the ego that we can't and should not try to control.

If that hidden intention doesn't want you to get something, no "law" can bring it into existence. When you do get what you want either trough practical action or trough the perceived law of attraction, it's really because there was an intention of you getting it.

But let me ask you - have you ever been discontent? Disappointed? Sad? Angry? Depressed? Filled with rage and hate? What did you do about it? Did you accept yourself as you were in that negative state, or did you stand up and make a change?
I've been depressed for a long time, and I have to tell you that the law of attraction had a lot to do with it. I was trying to visualize specific things and make them happen but I was getting inconsistent results. But one day, I decided to stop wanting things altogether and this is when things strangely started to pick up for me.

I learned how to transform discomfort into good energy, and this is how I got myself out of depression. I also started to only do things that felt right to me and that I felt naturally compelled to do. I decided to live day by day and not make extensive plans every morning. And since the beginning of the year, I was able to accomplish more than in the last three years trying to apply the principles of the law of attraction.

I've decided to completely give in to the universe and let life play itself trough me naturally. Since then, I've had nothing but lucky breaks and great surprises and I attribute them all to my new state of mind.

...and my day is going great actually. Thanks for asking

Thanks for taking the time to respond. You make some interesting points - some of which I think are the central ideas that should be promoted (but aren't) and so becomes a matter of semantics.

Originally Posted by Chris Moore View Post

Indeed. However, I don't think it's so much a matter with the law of attraction in and of itself, but the way it's portrayed to the masses. I have to say, I'm really not a fan of The Secret, or the way LOA is taught in general. It's shown as some sort of separate entity that you can turn on and off, rather than something that comes from inside yourself. I think a lot of that has to do with marketing - people would rather look OUTside of themselves for solutions rather than look within. If LOA were promoted so that the only way is to suck it up and do the hard way (looking withIN), it honestly wouldn't sell as much.

I also think that there's an hidden intention that really dictates what happens in your life, not your active thoughts. You can choose to call it the subconscious if you want to rationalize it, but I prefer not to give it a name. I'm glad you brought this up. I myself am not a religious person, per se, though I am spiritual. "Do As Thou Wilt Unto the Whole of the Law" is my personal philosophy. Describing it in detail would require a novel's worth of expressing my spiritual, metaphysical and philosophical views, but the basic concept of it is that every individual has his or her own true path, or True Will, and their purpose in life is to find that True Will, which lies beneath the ego's drives and desires and is path to their enlightenment. If you're interested, I can go into more detail in a PM.

I've been depressed for a long time, and I have to tell you that the law of attraction had a lot to do with it. I was trying to visualize specific things and make them happen but I was getting inconsistent results. But one day, I decided to stop wanting things altogether and this is when things strangely started to pick up for me.
I think this ties everything together - shows the flaw in the way LOA is taught to the masses as well as the will to detach from ego drives to allow your Will to step forth. Everything begins in the mind, starts with YOU. I've struggled with depression myself in the past, and literally turned falling flat on my face into an artform while trying to make a better life for myself. To be brutally honest, I did some Really Stupid Sh*t in my life and had the nerve to blame others for it. I'm still cleaning up the damage, which I realize can only be done by taking responsibility in ALL areas of my life, not just one in particular.

The only way I could make changes for myself was to know my darkside. I practically let it reign free for far too long because I chose to not understand it, turned my back on it. Learning about your shadow self is something that LOA courses don't discuss. It's brutal. It's ugly. It's not fun. But it's imperative to any amount of success before you can let the light shine through.

Something also tells me this is something you're familiar with. With all that's said and done, it's not so much that LOA is false or a myth - but the way it's taught it's incomplete. They show the parts that are marketable, but don't get to the true nitty-gritty of what needs to be done. Positive thinking is all fine and good - personally I've never known a happy pessimist - but if you only do it consciously, while your unconscious mind replies, "Really? You think you can do that? LOLJK you're an idiot who can't accomplish anything," well, it's pretty easy to tell which side is going to override the other. Mentalities. Working on yourself. Knowing thyself. That's the key before you can hope to allow new life to come in.

...and my day is going great actually. Thanks for asking
That's good You're better off than me today, I got a hangover and woke up at 3 PM > The good that came out of that though - I'm very turned off by drinking now. Not to say I'll never have another drink, but I have the feeling of, "Okay that was fun, now it's time to do something else." Still managed to get some writing accomplished today, so I'm proud of myself for that.

The Law of Attraction is something that people should not expect to happen every time. Since it will require a person's perseverance and determination to achieve whatever he/she wants to have or to be. As it was explained in The Secret, our mind sends signal to the universe for someone or something that we need or want. The universe would then sends the signal back to us like telling us to focus our mind to it and in order to achieve it.

It never presents that if we send signal to the universe that we want to have a car, and will only sit back in the couch and wait for that to happen. It is simply setting a dream, and you must work for it in order to attain that dream. If your mind sends signal to the universe that you want to have your own house, it is already imprinted in your mind that you will have to have your own house. And by achieving that goal, you should render time and effort for it to be achieved.

There are way too many things in life that are out of our control for simple "positive thinking" to necessarily make things better. It will probably make you feel better, and you can't argue with that, but I can think positively about and work tireless toward my goals, but unforeseen circumstances, like a car crash or a bout with cancer, could get in the way.

More likely, some a##hole would get in my way and all my work and positive thinking would be for nought. That being said, being positive and setting goals aren't bad; they just aren't a guarantee of success.

Let's assume for a moment, though, that positive thinking and goal-setting do work a good chunk of the time.

This still is not the same as the message of "The Secret," which states that positive thinking has the power to change realty. They are not making a feel-good statement about a positive life philosophy. They are making a causal statement about the ability of thoughts to affect physical reality. "Think positively about getting a pony, and you will get a pony," they say. Not "Think positively about getting a pony, then work hard to save up the money, then go buy a pony."

People are right when they say that positive thinking and goal setting are not a bad thing, but this is not what "The Secret" is selling. The people responsible for this blather are selling a ridiculous claim about the nature of physical reality and your ability to alter it with your thoughts, and they are bilking people out of millions of dollars. To borrow a line from Tom Foss, life is not a game of Mage: The Ascension, no matter how much I might want it to be.

the "Law" of Attraction isn't a law as the youtube pointed out, it's a marketing ploy to add/create certainty when the world is anything but certain. Law's don't need belief to be real or have real consequences. There are a fair amount of people in altered states who have jumped from high places and not come walking back.

I agree with the Secret's that we all deserve happy lives if we choose them, and to get there need a strong positive vision. A vision of what can be is neccesary before we can step into that "new world", which has always existed there.

A Vision first is usually necessary for belief.
As belief is often necessary to produce action
Action consistently with a viable path, is what ends up producing the actual results, though it's easy once at the end to claim it's some other mysterious force.

This is where I disagree with the law of attraction. it's lazy to think that belief alone without a actionable plan and resources is a recipie for success. I have watched firsthand how such "blind faith" they wish to inspire has destroyed MILLIONS of DOLLARS in companies I've been involved with. This is dollars of peoples retirement, savings etc. Didn't have to be if people weren't so blinded by that vision.

I assume that most of us don't visualize our shoelaces being tied to make that happen, so attempt more difficult things. So there a strong belief and commitment is often necessary to overcome the incredible obstacles and ingnore all the evidence to the contrary that we can't do it, until we've done it. At that point it's no longer vision, it's memory.

Take learning to ride a bike (or surf) they say that one definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting different results...well sometimes to be successful we have to "fake it" till we make it...and look a bit crazy, and crash often till we do, then we "make it look easy"...and get called "a natural". an "overnight success" ...10 years in the making. LOL

  • Whether or not the law of attraction works seems to hinge greatly upon how one genuinely answers the question "who am I". There are many dimensions to our being we can choose & LEARN to identify with and many of them have ZERO ability to make this law work, different worlds all together...and it depends upon complete & correct understanding, which is not (meant to be) possible just by watching the Secret...

The Law of Attraction industry is another successful Push Button solution: it has made its founders a lot of money. There is something greater than Law in our lives and that is called Spirit. So we can live by the letter of the Law, or we can live by the Spirit.

Beethoven had piano teachers who would have laid down a series of rules they could have called The Law Of Piano Playing - every rule has its exception and Beethoven would have broken every one of these rules in becoming the greatest piano performer of his time. He was also a creative genius who could compose and conduct music: he performed his own piano concertos in public with long extended cadenzas which he made up on the spur of the moment.

My point is this: to leverage the power of our creative inner spirit we have to move on BEYOND Law, that is, accepted rules within our era. Think of Einstein - did he accept the conventional scientific wisdom or did he move on BEYOND the established Laws?

Even the so called Law of Gravity is a vain attempt to label a physical phenomena we haven't quite understood as yet. Does the earth move around the sun or the sun move around the earth?

In essence, a Law is something we use to attempt to describe a phenomena in the outer world which we do not fully understand. Our thinking is always bound by the limitations of the era in which we live. See things from above, from below, side to side, end on, through! The spirit by which we can choose to live instead if we wish - the spirit is our inner creative mind which believes all, imagines all, enjoys all. Tap into your inner creativity.

This has to be the most meaningful post of this entire thread. The law of attraction deals A LOT with the subconscious mind, but really, who can say that they really understand the subconscious mind? The terms "subconscious mind" and even "higher self" are all names we've given to things we absolutely have NO IDEA about.

Focus on following your dreams instead. Follow your intuition. Do the things you feel naturally inclined to. How can you plan for the next 5 years when you don't even know what's going to happen in the next 5 minutes?

The law of attraction just like any other devine or universal law works all the time. However, we need to understand that it takes only a higher law to superceed a lesser one. If the law of attraction clashes with a higher law, it definitely has to pave way to that higher law.

The actual attraction of your goal or desire is an effect that happens when you follow a simple formuala. No matter who the author is, what they are selling or how they explain it - it all boils down to this formla:

    1) get clear on what you really want (not what society wants for you) what you really want.

    2) focus consistently on this. some people say visualize, some say act as if, some say write it down as a goal 100 times, etc... no matter what it boils down to consistent focus.

What this produces is resistance. People stop focusing on what they want because the resistance becomes too unbearable. procrastination, apathy sets in, you get sick, whatever... it's all resistance. That's the resistance you have to get through to claim your goal.

Most people cant continue to focus on the goal because the resistance become very unbearable.

The third part of the formula takes care of this:

    3) clear or release the resistance. If you can clear or release the resistance, achieving the goal becomes effortless.

This is the hardest part for most people and this is why they dont have what they want.

There are many ways to release... you can use the sedona method, release technique, EFT, etc...

The important thing is that you release.

You can actually feel it working if you are doing it right because when you go back to focusing on your goal (be it visualizing, writing it, acting as if, however you consistently focus on it) you will notice that it feels more and more real.

The more you focus, the more things will arise that you need to release. Thought patterns, habits, problems, challenges, etc...

That's it. That's all folks. The formula is simple however I never said it was easy. The good news is once you get the hang of it, it becomes easier.

Be very clear on what you want (what you really want and why you want it), then focus on it consistently every day (visualize, write it down over and over, record it in your voice and play it in a loop, use those windows subliminal softwares to run on your computer in the background, incant it strongly with emotion, etc...) then release as **** pops up.

You gotta consistently focus and release. Everyday.

    It's a simple 3 step formula.

Do yoga... that's a good physical way of releasing.

applying the secret only will not work. there are lots unrevealed on the secret. Law of attraction should be in synergy with other "laws", i.e. persistence, strong will, hard work. (I prefer Napolleon Hill).
sometimes the secret tells as if you just have to keep daydreaming to get money from the sky. dreaming without action is vain, and that's the law of nature.

Sorry but I didn't even watch the video......I truly believe in the law as it get's proven to us daily. Unfortunately to many people are so occupied with the ratrace they are in that they get blinded by what life has to offer.
Focusing what we don't like and worrying creates exactly more of what we don't want. Why not try and see what we already have and understand that there is always someone worse off than us and that truly help to feel grateful for what we have and with that create and attract more of what we want.

I agree with Rita...gratitude and helping others works in conjunction with LOA. Volunteering especially helps when I lose focus!

Robert Scheinfeld approach is that we have control over our destiny and that everything that happens to us was created by us. There's no outside force, as described in the "Secret." It's all us.

For us to achieve what we desire, we have to embrace and breakthrough everything that happens and be fully aware that nothing is real. It's all made up. Once you breakthrough, manifesting what you want becomes easier.

My take on the law of attraction is that it works as simply as this...

If I focus and try to attract IM knowledge into my life I will think about it and start to take actions towards it. I will have conversations about it and I'll go actively looking for it. It's the same old "you get what you focus on" no mystery at all. We all live it daily. I think that if anyone acvtually thinks that people actually think that by thinking about something it will magically happen is really not being serious. If course no one thinks that but if you watch the whole movie and listen you will see that they are saying the same thing. Think and focus on something, take action and it will soon start to happen. There's no real mystery to that. It's how we all operate daily.

If I suffocate myself I can't breath no matter how positive I think. If my breathe smells ,and, I try and talk to a woman who is a 10, and, haven't wiped my #$% after taking a dump I will not get that woman no matter how hard I think positive. If I take no action, and, cry till purple to get rich, I will produce the same results no matter what until I take action.

Seems to me laws of common sense have been overridden with fast talk from guys in a back room. Meetings in back rooms on how to create new words, new charts, graphs, and, other unproven intangibles that keeps the producers out of hot water.

Law of attraction doesn't work because you don't believe it works. Hm
