Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz (my notes)

Hey everyone!

I'm sure there are many Warriors in this sub-forum who've read this book. It's a self-development classic. Many of its ideas converge with the ones you'd find in books by Napoleon Hill, Wallace D. Wattles, etc.

It does touch on what some call that 'Law of Attraction', but I find his approach much more pragmatic and grounded in reality...

I went through it this summer quite religiously and took some detailed notes. There are some ideas from this book that really caused a shift in my perception and have made a big impact on my life in the past few months.

That's why I'd like to share my notes with you.

If you haven't read it, you can have a quick glance at the outline and ideas - you may find it an interesting read.

If have read it, then you can perhaps shortly revisit some of Dr. Maltz's ideas.

    Hey man!

I'll check out your notes for sure. I read the book (both of them, old and newer version) and I totally love it.

It's like.. psychology if anything. It's incredible how ahead of his time Maltz was.

Thanks for reminding me of this!

Wow, these aren't just notes, they're the "Reader's Digest" version of the book! (For those who aren't familiar, "Reader's Digest version" means it's all there, just in condensed form.)

I wish EVERY non fiction book came with notes like these - it's nice to have the gold without all the digging. Good work and thank you for sharing!

Wow thanks for sharing your notes. We must have been studying the book around the same time. Last summer I was totally immersed in it and would spend 1-2 hours every morning reading, studying and coming up with strategies to implement.

I have read more books than I can name on personal growth, etc... and this has to be top 1%

The key thing, and it has already been mentioned, is that the book is practical. There isn't a lot of fluffy "put it out there and things will happen" type of stuff. You can read this book, convince your mind that the steps outlined are indeed valid. Then take action and have measurable results. This always works in my books

Thank you for sharing your notes! I am totally immersed in both the book and the CD/audio version of the New Psycho-Cybernetics and am finding it absolutely life-changing.

I am trying to find information on the Psycho-Cybernetics Foundation and it appears to have sort of died? Dan Kennedy doesn't seem to be involved with it anymore and may have 'sold' the foundation to a guy named Matt Furey - who specifies on his website "not to contact him for any reason because he will not respond to emails or phone calls. How's that for a busines model??!!! Such a shame that he is the holder of the Foundation's materials. Anybody have any more info on the status of the PS Foundation?

Dr. Maltz was a pioneer in the field of the sub-conscious. His ideas are timeless; they are an insight into how the mind works...and how it will always work.

If you really want to accomplish something--employ your subconscious. It can turbo-charge your efforts to achieve. Dr. Maltz's work--Psycho Cybernetics-- is excellent in explaining how to do that.

I stumbled onto a couple psycho-cybernetic techniques in high school (studying for short intense periods and then letting your subconscious mind "work" on it while sleeping; and no, I'm not talking about cramming. It was similar to the part in the book where he describes the archeologist "sleeping on it" to solve a problem he had with a fossil.).

This was several years before I came across the book, so I was immediately receptive of Maltz's ideas when I finally read them.

I think the human brain/mind is the most fascinating thing in the universe. And this book is the most fascinating work ever published on the topic.

Excellent notes! I haven't read the book in a while but I love the overall message. It's about self-image, which in my opinion points to your sense of identity (or rather your 'false' identity)!

Anyone who wants to change would do well to read this book!

It's funny...a year ago I'd honestly only read on a plane. Literally.

This past year getting more serious in trying to reach my goals, I haven't stopped reading. Actually just got two books in the mail today. Now I have another to add to the list. Looking forward to it.

Reading is definitely addictive, especially personal development books where you're growing constantly as you do it (and implement the ideas)!

Yes I think psycho cybernetics along Think and grow rich is probably one of the two top personal development books. I also like that Dan Kennedy did the rewrite on the second one.

If its good enough for Dan its good enough for me.

Definitely an amazing book, I just finished reading it about 6 months ago, very informative, and useful. One of my favorites of all time. For those of you who haven't read it, I'd highly recommend reading the whole book from scratch (maybe even highlighting sections that are important to you), and then you can use the notes as a resource once you've taken in the full message.

I read 5 pages of Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz borrowed from my friend and I found the book very insightful with positive wisdom on how to become positive towards life. I must say that this is an excellent book that not only adds value to your life but at the same time its interesting, inspiring and available to common viewers. One of the best book I have read in the last couple of years. It’s amazing and would recommend to everyone.

I found this book last month and have been reading chapter by chapter over and over again.

It is the best self-help book I have ever read and wish I found it years ago. Really, I've read Think and Grow Rich three times. And did not get half of what I have gotten from P-C! And I am not half the way through it.

I am taking my time getting through it and it is worth it. I read the first chapter each day for 21 days straight. And now reading each subsequent chapter each day for 7 days straight. A little obsessed, you say? Yes! It is working for me. For example, I have tried to journal for years. You know, "they" say you should, but 10 days ago I felt the need to sit down and write. So I wrote. And have done so every day since.

I have never "studied" a book. Nope, not me. But Dr Maltz is so close to home that I think I have more sentences unlined than not. Nothing like me. Well, nothing like the old me.

I am loving it. Hope you do to and if you haven't gotten a copy, just read the comments above to know it's Da Bomb! By the way, it was written in 1960, 55 years ago. Wow!
