Change Your Life ... REMEMBER PEOPLES NAMES! My Secret Trick!...

The appreciation you receive (or just feel) when you remember someones name is priceless! This is such a great social skill... and once mastered, can really help with confidence and self esteem!

I have an awesome little trick to train yourself to NATURALLY remember names!...and it initially just takes two steps...

1. When a person tells you their name, make a mental connection with either a friend, family member, colleague or famous person. So if someone introduced themselves as Tony... I'd mentally connect them to my dad! Then I'd say in my head; 'This guy is connected to my Dad' and then produce a funny mental picture of them standing together. The funnier - the Better!

2. Then you need to recap at some point during the first couple of hours of meeting this person. I find the best time to do this is when your going to toilet. I know it sounds weird, but you have 1 or 2 minutes to think to yourselves... 'Who have I met today?'. Try to recay each person that you meet at least a couple of times!...

Thats it! Simple but SO effective!

This system is great for remembering multiple name. Which is such a good talent to have at conferences, seminars, parties etc.

AND even better... after a while it becomes natural! About 7 years ago I went out to Spain to works in a bar. I learnt this technique shortly before going!... I actively used the technique for about 2 weeks, and then after that my subconscious just seemed to kinda take over! AND I still have the natural ability to this day (and my social skills and confidence have sky rocketed since

So give it a try!... Such a small skill, can be SUCH a HUGE life changer!!!

Enjoy!

In Dale Carnegie’s timeless book How to Win Friends and Influence People he wrote, “If you want to win friends, make it a point to remember them.

Another excellent quote from the same book is,

"Remember that a man's name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language"

I get mad at myself when I make it a point to introduce myself, then a little later I can't even remember their name.

It's also important never to reinforce the thought "I'm no good with names." If you say that to yourself it can limit your progress in memorizing others names.

    Thanks Dan!

I'm always amazed and how remembering a name makes a person feel.

A couple of days ago in a restaurant a guy came up to me and said, "Hey Paul!"

I had no clue who he was.

"It's Gene. We played golf together about four years ago in a tournament with Mike and David."

"Oh....." I said searching for the memory. "Out at Trent Jones?"

    "Nope. It was at Wynlakes."

Gene had a gift that I want! I's super impressive to remember the name and the encounter.

I'm definitely working to become much more intentional!!
