How Do You Spend Your Time?

Are you engaged in effective acts most of the time?

If you feel stuck chances are you're working hard but not intelligently. This makes your tasks tougher, for you have to engage in more tasks to be successful.

Look at your day. If you run a home based biz are you meeting enough people? Are you making enough connections?

So how do you spend your time?

I believe the key first of all is knowing exactly what you want. All off us spending a majority of the time undoing what we have done.

Honestly, spend less time making excuses not to work (e.g. I will be more efficient tomorrow, I have plenty of time left...) and do more work.
You'll spend your time well if you do just that (which most people don't do).

Unfortunately for me my attention is split between two jobs. My full-time job and the the online marketing site that I would like to become full-time income. I am trying to pull double duty right now and the strain is showing. soon I will have to make a decision as to where my priorities should be.

    Good insight overall.

Sara, it can be a challenge but I've learned the hard way again and again that pulling back and thinking through my business campaign pays off in the long run, for I get more accomplished, save time and my sanity, and stay healthy. Burning the candle at both ends is never worth it and always comes back to get you.

Definitely consider setting aside at least and hour or so of quiet time each day to think through your plan.

    All the best!

I recommend reading the Four Hour Work Week on this topic. It gets pretty down and dirty on how to turn your use of time around.

The Great Formula has some things to say, as well, that we could all learn from.

I spend a certain amount of time on my computer doing email, writing blog posts and reading other blogs, Facebook and doing research on social media. I think you get the idea. But I really don’t spend time on online games because I simply don’t have the time.

One of the most important things in order to spend time efficiently is to know your priorities.

You need to choose and plan to use your time in the best way possible.

Here's a simple task and time management system I'm using and it works great:

    1. Write down all the things you want to get done for the day.

    2. Assign a specific time to each task.

    3. Select a task, start a timer, and focus on nothing but accomplishing that task.

Yes, most of the time I am engaged in effective work. In my rest/leisure time I hear song, read nobles and dislike to think about anymore effective work.

True Ryan, while working from Home, we miss the connections. We should discipline ourselves to make connecting to people, either online or direct. Absolutely required. (I am about to quit my job soon, and while analyzing the pros& cons of each, this one (missing connections) was really on my list)

These are my ways on how I spend my time:
    1. Prioritize the tasks and begin the day by tackling the highly prioritized and tougher jobs when the mind is alert.
    2. Develop the habit of maintaining a log of the daily activities and the time taken to complete each task in hand to have a better understanding of the productive hours spent every day.
    3. Conduct a daily assessment of the performance and compare them to the set goals of the day to recognize the elements that contribute and affect negatively the fulfillment of the set target.
