I like Dr. Wayne Dyer's stuff for my head/heart. Really anything that brings awareness to strength, goodness and self-empowerment. I also read the Bible for inspiration. Proverbs and the new testament (Jesus' parables) are some of the most powerful things you'll ever read. True wisdom regardless of your religious affiliation or lack thereof.

For marketing, I'm a fan of the Guerrilla Marketing books. I'm also reading quite a lot about social media right now. I read literally everything I can get my hands on. I just took advantage of the Borders closing and bought 6 business-related books two days ago.

I'm an avid fan of Tony Robbins. His two bestselling books ("Unlimited Power" and "Awaken The Giant Within") have changed my life.

I also love Robert Kiyosaki's books, as they have changed my mindset and belief towards money.

Tim Ferris, Robert Kiyosaki, John C. Maxwell, Dale Carnegie, Jack Welsh, Malcom Gladwell, Robin Sharma.

In a phrase what each has taught me:

Tim Ferris: There is a better way of living - don't waste time with distraction and fall into the routines of the masses.

Robert Kiyosaki: Don't be trapped working for money - aspire to leave the working class (aka:your job) . See the big picture of the way the money system works and can work for you.

John C. Maxwell: There are so many ways to be a better person. If you aspire to be a leader you will be way out in front.

Dale Carnegiehow to win friends) People are life. The key to a successful and full life is being a student of human nature and working with people's tendancies rather that trying to change them.

Jack WelshJack) The one thing he would have changed despite his great success is he would have liked to effect change in his organization faster. Embracing change means keeping responsive to changes in the business enviro.

Malcom GladwellOutliers) You could be the most hardworking and smartest person in the world, but if you are working in the wrong opportunity you still will fail or waste your life working in waste. A person who lucks into the right opportunity will do better. Find a good opportunity! (Which has actually led me to Internet Marketing!)

Robin SharmaGreatness Guide) Just daily inspiration, the desire to be better in all ways, the reminder to be focused and action inclined.

        Thanks,
        Jeff

For some reason I can't read something unless I"m learning. Fictional stuff I save for movies and TV where I can sit down for 2 hours and get my fill. When I'm reading I want to take something away from it other than just a good made up story.

I tend to read things that are philosophical. That doesn't mean old philosopher books but just things that dabble in thought process and makes you question how you perceive things. I really enjoyed Black Swan (not the movie, the book). I also like reading biographies and learning about others who have found ways to be successful.

I love to read "real stories". My favorites are the old poker stories that Doyle Brunson and the guys lived. Real amazing stories that could have been fiction but they are not. How they gamble their way thru US and get robbed, broke and just keep going.

I love to read anything relating to the human mind, and how it connects to God and as a result the Universe. I like the Bible, and the teachings of Jesus, because i feel he understood reality perfectly, thats why he was able to pray and have it answered.

I also like Ernest Holmes. He deals with Christian Mysticism. "The Science of Mind" is a lengthy but excellent book. He teaches what the Spirit, Soul, and Body truly are within mankind, and how to harness and control them, to bring about anything desired. But he uses scripture from the Bible, and explains the real meaning of them, very different from what you hear in churches.

I also like Esther and Jerry Hicks, and their book "Ask and It Is Given". It deals with the same topic above, but it gives techniques on how to control the mind. No matter what emotional state you are in, you can use the techniques to climb your way back to positive expectation, and that is when God answers.

"The Science of Mind" is very good to understand it all theoretically, to get the broad understanding of it all. And "Ask and It Is Given" is very good is showing you actual methods for putting to use what you have just learned. All these books have changed the way i view things, and for the better. I hope you are blessed by them as well.

Every Classic Self Improvement Book Ever Written is A Seed From
The Book of Proverbs. For example ...

    - Think and Grow Rich!
    - How To Win Friends and Influence People!
    - As a Man Thinketh!
    - The Power of Positive Thinking!
    - Chicken Soup For The Soul!
    And others!

If you're ever in a rush and don't have time to read all the above books, read The Book of Proverbs.

It's like an at-a-glance look at the best self-improvement advice ever written. And 5,000 years later in a high-tech, jet age, microwave world it's still relevant. Amazing!

The writer of Proverbs, King Solomon, was so rich the Queen of Sheba (Histories first woman Billionaire) fainted at the mere sight of his enormous wealth!( 2 Chronicles Chapter 1 thru 5)

That's the Guru I want to read and listen to. Dig It!

Og Mandino has a book called University of Success.
What Og has done with this book is turned some of the best material from numerous authors and created a University. One course should be read everyday.

What I really like about this book is that he introduced me to many amazing pieces of self help literature and authors. From there, I started collected many of the books that the content was taken from.

Another great book is Jim Rohn - The Seasons of Life
It's a small paperback that can be read in a couple days if not in a night.

I go back to that little paperback VERY often...

    Great thread, great replies.

I'd say, more recently Tim Ferriss and Malcolm Gladwell. Gladwell writes about psychology, the mind and society and Ferriss writes a lot about negotiating reality and doing what you want, instead of believing you have to settle for something else controlled by the world and the status quo.

I don't follow any particular authors. I'm always afraid that I will eventually come across a real stinker if I read everything they write. I prefer to keep them idealized in my head lol. My favorite subject to read on though is anything that I know absolutely nothing about. Nothing is cooler than the mental rush you get reading about a topic that you are completely ignorant of and seeing established points of view that are already there.
