Are You Having Enough Time In Your Life?

Time

People are always complaining about the lack of time but why is it someone always seem to have enough time for everything and you just seem to lack time for anything?

Everybody have 24 hours a day. Me, you or your neighbor next door have the same amount of time. So what is the difference?

It is about the awareness we have. Are you aware of where the time is flowing and are you putting enough effort in allocating your time into good use?

3 Powerful Ways To Help You Create That Additional Hour

1. Eliminate Task - What? I wanted to do more but you are telling me to eliminate task? Have you written something wrong, Vincent?

Yes, I wrote eliminate task and there is no mistake to it. Simple as it is, when you find that you have too much task that you need to do, just strike off some of the tasks that are relatively not important. Or if you think that it must be done no matter what, did you ever thought about delegating it to others?

Most of us are still not use to outsourcing and delegating tasks to others but they are powerful ways to help free up our time so try to get use to it soon.

2. Learn to reject - Have you ever met the Yes-Man/Woman before? They will not say no to anything and will accept whatever that were dished out to them. They will not reject their friends for outing even when he/she got an important work to submit by tomorrow or they will accept the additional workload dumped to them even when it is not under their work scope.

This is the Yes-Man/Woman, and most probably you can see them living in a rather frantic lifestyle because they are always rushing due to the lack of time and the never ending tasks that they accepted.

When you have tasks that are important and your friends ask you out for a movie, have the courage to say No. Reject them may seem to annoy them a little, but you can always ask them out again some other time. If they are your true friends, they will definitely understand your situation.

3. Have a time table - How many of you don't have a time table? Having a weekly plan definitely help you to squeeze that additional hour out of your busy schedule. By planning our week, we can slot in tasks of high importance and also this mean getting a lot more things done. By having a time table will also help to keep you off Facebook when you should be doing your work which equals to more time created for you.

Cheers

What are other time management tips that you use to create that additional hour for yourself? I would be happy to hear from you, looking forward to see your replies.

    • This is very timely for me -- thank you. Lately I've been feeling very overwhelmed and losing track of things I need to do, and even forgetting important things. I decided to just reschedule some things (even though I feel they are important to my work) for after the new year. I am just tired and working too hard and need a break, so I'm going to take one. I realized that -- like you said -- if I make a list and check things off, it really helps and even eliminating some things is hard but I CAN DO IT.

Let it all go, I say, when you need to! Thanks for the reassurance!

It seems that you are kind of stressed out from your work. It will do you good if you take the time off to renew yourself. I wrote an article about what everyone ought to know about renewing yourself, maybe you will be interested in reading it.

  • Great tips Vincent

It's always puzzled me that the busier I am the more I get done. Tasks do have a habit of expanding to fill the time we allocate for them so sometimes setting ourselves very tight deadlines or very demanding schedules can be very effective.

    Best regards

How about being a stickler for deadlines we set upon ourselves? Walking the talk. We can always blab that we can do this and make time for this and that and so forth. However, if we keep on bending our own rules and continue to slack off, all the lists and daily planning are useless. We're just fooling ourselves into thinking that we can manage ourselves and our time.
      Hi Mari_Quint,

Not sticking to our plan will only waste our effort in setting up our plan in the first place. Thanks for the point added

      Hi Robert,

This is a great point. Tasks do have the habit of expanding. Setting specific time for our task will definitely help to prevent our task from expanding.

This is so true. It seems that we work more effectively under pressure of deadlines as long as those deadlines are motivators. The key is to be true to the real motivating deadline. When deadlines are just arbitrary, often we allow ourselves to get distracted and go off to something else - because that was not really a true deadline.
One must be inner directed in order to set these deadlines and stick to them without excessive pressure - just enough to feel motivated to get it all done.

Real wealth is time...time to spend with family and friends, time for vacations, time to give back to those who have less..

Rich people send their money to work while they stay home and play.

If you believe that spending all YOUR time working hard is the way to riches, you will remain broke (lose the JOB). If you believe that using other people's time to accomplish your goals, you are on the right path (be the EMPLOYER).

Once I figured this out, I succeeded like never before.

Being able to use our time in what we feel that is best possible way definitely help to empower us. I believe we prefer to do our own work rather then having our boss breathing down our neck and chasing us for our work.

I guess we never have enough time to do everything we want, but we have to learn to manage it the best we can.

For me having enough time is simply spending it with the people I love, being there for them. Family is doubtless the most important thing in life; so I guess that's why we fight so hard to be successful, so we can have more time (freedom) to spend it with the ones we love.

            My two cents.

    Hello Omari Taylor here,

Great post! I hear this all the time from people who want success online but say they have no time. That is when I tell them that you can use money to produce results then. People must understand it is one or the other to produce results online. Time or money for paid advertising.

What I suggest to people to find time is to purchase a daily planner and cross out the time they are at work because that is time you can't use. Then also add the time you eat dinner, shower and whatever else. Then with you left over time break down in to hours and each hour do a different method of marketing.

If you have 3 hours, 1 hour write and submit a article, the next hour submit a video and the third hour write a blog post. Then do this everyday. Aso if you can, add some form of paid advertising.

But if you really sit down and manage your time, you will find the time you thought you didn't have. Best Wishes.

These are all great suggestions to live by. Lately, I've felt time just flying by without having done what I've planned for the day. When I worked at a job, each morning, I wrote a daily to-do list and went through my list early in the day. I really need to get back to that. Hey, maybe I'll start tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder.

There are tons of distractions in life and only by focusing on our task at hand and be able to manage our time, we will then achieve our desired results.

      Hi Sonny,

It may be difficult to let go of things at first but once we are able to reach the stage that we are able to outsource stuff that are menial and is only taking up our time, we will have much more free time to do tasks that are truly important.

Hi Vincent and Hi all! Has anybody read Tim Ferriss's book "The 4Hour Workweek"? He says as long as you have time and money anything is possible. I would like to add that we just feel too guilty to let anything go, because we're supposed to do everything ourselves (me included), its actually the guilt that makes us anxious not the workload. As my dad said, if you don't want anything, then leave (or change something).

      Hi Dominic,

Moderation is the word. I do not recommend you to reject all the outings because that would definitely damage the relationship you have. Do accept a few of the outings but remember to allocate time to complete the essential tasks before going for the outing. Hope this help.

Do PM me if you need any more help.

Everyone have only 24 hours a day and it is up to us to use it to the maximum potential. Maybe we can outsource or eliminate tasks to free up more time.

Haha, you got me laughing on this one. It will be great if we have more time and need lesser sleeping hours. We can have more time for our tasks which will result in better productivity but too bad we got only 24 a day. We just got to learn how to work in 24 hours a day.

Learn how to reject is I guess one of the most important of the 3.. People doesn't know how to reject people offers and it wastes a lot of their time :-)

I also like eliminating tasks because there are things that are not that important and which needs to be removed from the schedule..

This is so good. I will also share my thoughts about this in my upcoming project. We are in the finalization stage and good thing to know that am not the only person who is thinking time management.

I do think the key insight here is to start with the mindset of having abundant time in your life to do whatever you choose. From this mindset, you’ll eventually find ways to fit everything in that you want to fit in. It may take some creative thinking on your part, but that is part of the fun.
