The starting point for a dream life

Being happy.

Beyond setting tangible goals, visualizing, or any tool or technique, start with being happy.

Until you're happy Now, you won't ever be truly happy for everything happens in the Now.

When you are happy the universe becomes a smorgasbord of wonderful opportunities, opportunities that were always there but opps you couldn't see because you were in a lower state of vibration.

You begin to grab the opportunities, run with them, and you progressively become happier and happier as you take the steps to make your dream life come true.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I think people should focus in what they have.
We have so much to be grateful and still...majority focus in what they dont have.

Focusing in what you have and being happy for that is the best way to attract in your live everything that you look for.

    Hi,

Good points here, where you're headed is all about where you decide to place your focus.

Wherever your attention and energy goes - and you're putting it there - grows.

    Thanks for sharing!

Ryan, man i like your posts. i totally agree with you 100 %. However, i get the feeling that you are a veteran when it comes to controlling your emotions and thoughts. i, on the other hand, still struggle with certain thoughts. Especially thoughts that are vital for my happiness, and for my goals. To me, i tend to worry about the most important things in my life. My health, as a example, i never worry about it, and as a result, i never get sick. But when it comes to important things, im always thinking "What if this happens..... What if something is wrong....?" and therefore im always worried. What advice do you have, because like your post says, Happiness is the first step in acheiving your goals.

A favorite song of mine talks about "Have what you want but want what you have."

I think you can want more for yourself, but also focus on happiness in the now. Well, I know you can; I do. I want more out of my business and my life, but I'm really content now.

I had a funny little example of this in my personal life. I have really wanted a particular electric guitar for a long time, a Stratocaster. What I had was an electric guitar someone had given me that needed a lot of work. One weekend I spent two weekends working on it and finally it only needed strings. When I went to the store for strings there was a scratch-and-dent (low-end) Strat for $50, that had just been brought out to put on sale. It wasn't the best Strat ever made, but it was more than $50 would have bought me any other time, so for a weekend's work and $50 I ended up with two good guitars, because I didn't throw the first one out.

(The first guitar sounds really good now that I fixed it up by the way).

Decide to be happy, and then work on being happpier, or as I see it, continuing to be happy and grow.

    Luv the feedback here.

@mypiapo Keep working at it, continue to practice embracing and than shifting your emotions, you will improve in time. I used to have severe anger issues and also deep feelings of self-consciousness. I kept working at it though, practicing meditation and mental science daily.

This is so true. When you become more aware of how you're feeling throughout the day, and know that you have the power to change your thoughts to a better feeling place, you are able to change your life! Choose better feeling thoughts, raise your vibration, and attract what you want!
Become happy within yourself first and see what happens!

        Hi,

Meditation. Really meditation is the #1 you can do to change your life.

When you can sit and accept anything that comes your way, many will view you like a god (emphasis lowercase "g").

I am an infant with meditation but can see already that sitting quietly with my thoughts for at least 30 minutes a day is life transforming.

As soon as you wake, find a quiet spot. Sit with back straight. Be an observer. Watch everything - feelings, sensations, thoughts, planning, etc, etc etc - without acting on it. Simply observe. Sit. And do nothing else.

This is the beginning of a quiet mind. Realize that before your mind becomes quiet it will get plenty loud Just a trick of the ego to keep you from growing.

Ride it out by continuing to sit. Every day. At least 5 minutes in the beginning and progress to 30 minutes or an hour.

Gotta go. Time for some za-zen

Ryan, I couldn't agree more. And I think not having enough time for themselves is the reason why so much people "fail" in life. They never really take time to think about what they want.

My daily routine includes listening to some relaxing music and thinking about the think I am happy about in my life.

    Happiness is a choice.

I use to think that being "happy" was a byproduct of achieving some goal. "I'll be happy when I..."

Once I decided to just be happy, stress and worry lifted and my outlook on life became much better.

Gratitude is a very important. Start a gratitude journal and write at least 1 thing each morning that you are grateful for. This simple exercise does wonders for shifting the mindset. It's much easier to be happy when you are focused on all the things you are blessed with instead of the things you don't have.

    Hi All,

Nothing outside of you will ever make you happy.

Opportunities will not make you happy: how you perceive the opportunities will.

Happiness is an inside job, it's been said. True. One person's misfortune is another's fortune. The perceiver creates it.

Being happy is truly the rightful first step but ironically many people claim to be happy when they are not.

What i call happiness is inner peace which is quite relatively scarce especially among the very upwardly mobile people.

Being happy opens the mind to new and better thoughts, ideas, and plans that work out to become positive results. Unhappiness and negativity in ones life closes the door to opportunity.

You can be an overall happy person, yet have times of unhappiness. The key is to realize "you'll have that."

Being happy doesn't mean that every minute of every day, you're jumping for joy. It does mean that you're full of gratitude for whatever has come your way. You know it's all part of a bigger picture that's still unfolding.

For a few years now, I've kept a gratitude journal. It was a friend's suggestion when I was going through some difficult times. At first, I thought it was a dumb idea, but now, I recommend it to everyone.

In the evenings, I write a list of what I'm grateful for that day. Sometimes, it's as small as, "Haven't run out of toothpaste yet." Other times, it's much bigger. Eventually, I also started listing the things I wanted to have or do in my life, while imagining that I was already "there."

Now, years later, when I read back through my journal, I'm still filled with delight when I read about the little and big things that have come my way...including people and situations. I also see how I've changed over the years with regard to what I want, and what's important to me.

Some people think they can't have happiness until all their ducks are lined up. "When all the bills are paid," or "When the kids are grown." Those people will never be happy, because there will always be more ducks to line up.

Seriously...A gratitude journal is a great way to start "practicing" happiness. Soon, happiness will be like second nature!

Ive always felt that a good start to a dream life is just being comfortable in your own skin. Some people seem to start life this way, some come into it later in life, and some die without ever finding it. I always strive to just be happy with myself, set lofty goals that I somehow just know that I can reach.

I like that. It's important to be happy and honestly I say out loud "I'm grateful" just about every day. I write down and repeat positive affirmations which I'll say each and every day whether I feel like it or not. I feel like I'm programming my mind and body to do and receive good things, opportunities, and experiences.

I agree that happiness and gratitude are intertwined. I think a sense of gratitude is one of the most important elements of being happy. Gratitude for the small things is just as important as for the big things in life and leads to a more open and generous heart.

As to how this applies to IM, I think that our first task is to provide opportunities and information that will truly help others. From this, money will flow.

And that's my 2 bits, as my Mom would say. Cheers, everyone.

Being happy, for me, may not be the starting point. There are times when we're pushed off our butts by unpleasant experiences. The type that may even fill one with sadness and pain. And, that may be the last straw. The last motivation needed to dream of new paths.

But I believe that happiness,( joy ) which reflects GRATITUDE and CONTENTMENT (with current experiences) are powerful magnets for luring beauties into our lives.

    Thanks for sharing all.

I've noted some folks mentioning situations they perceive as painful; remember, it's the individuals perception.

I was sued by a creditor and also had to declare bankruptcy. Sure, I felt the pain...and suffered for a bit, but I changed my perception quickly and became generally happy again, doing what I love doing.

Others might have been happy throughout the ordeal, some would have held on to the suffering for months or years. All the individual's perception.

    Thanks for sharing!

You made a vital point: The role of perception in our capacity for joy or sadness. I agree, what others consider a tragedy, might be seen by another as ''one of those things''.

Being happy is powerful, no doubt, there is a lightness that comes with it. It's
energy that can be focused on our aspirations.
