How well do you deal with unexpected down-time?

I'm writing this post as my internet connection is down.

I used to complain when it went out. Now I use the time to write posts, articles, or brainstorm for creative ideas.

How well do you deal with similar situations? Do you see it as an opportunity?

Every problem or down-time can be used. And it should be used.
Driving a car - listen to tape.
Waiting in a queue - write a note for an article.

(un)fortunately I haven't got much problems with internet connection...

    What's down time?

Nearly every minute of the day can be used for something. Even when performing rote work, your mind can be active planning, revising or braiinstorming. You just need to be able to briefly stop to jot down important thoughts.

Even sitting in meditation is productive, because clearing your mind of the clutter is one of the more productive things you can do in your day. Coming out of meditation, fresh and with your mind open can allow insights you otherwise wouldn't notice if you are always pushing...

During downtime, whether it's my ISP or my own self, I personally reflect a lot and also use the precious time to manage my PC's, organize things or if things get too depressing, I just walk away and smell the roses...

Agreed, everything happens for a reason. Sometimes life makes you face against obstacles, but if you see the obstacle, embrace it and make the most out of it, it can be the starting point of something great.

To use the time that was meant for smth else before is difficult. As when you plan to do smth and there is some obstacle - you get annoyed and angry. One should possess great self-discipline and show flexibility to cope with that.

I try to do other stuff (like reading books or exercising), but with much lower enthusiasm.

    Good feedback.

Meditation helps immensely because it keeps us in the moment. When present we can embrace and release negative emotions we experience when facing obstacles.
