Hey Warriors:

I don't know about you, but i found myself working a lot more efficient with deadlines than without them.

My advice: Set deadlines for your goals. Write them down in your calendar or in your smartphone, maybe even keep track of the countdown.

You'll fine yourself working efficiently and really putting yourself into achieving your goals no matter what.

When I want to be extra efficient (Which should be all the time) I set a countdown timer for a particular task. For example surfing on the warrior forum. If I left it up to me, I could be on the WF for hours, so I set a timer for 15 minutes and then when it's finished thats my time up.

You can also use it for tasks like writing articles. Set it for 20 minutes and when the 20 minutes is up, your article is finished no matter what state it's in. Over time you'll get used to doing it and your task will improve, so your first few articles might not be greate, but they'll get better the more you do it.

This is a method I've been using as well with a lot of success. It prevents you from time wasting, or just browsing around until you look at the clock and realize an hour has drifted by without anything being accomplished.

Another thing that has worked wonders for me: Be firm about what you spend your time doing. As tempting as things like facebook or socializing may be, remember that unless you're utilizing them for business, they're just time wasters.

You are definitely right on to something here. I've been setting deadlines for a few of my project lately and it seems like I get more and becoming way more productive than ever before. Always important to push!

@Max: Certainly my friend, it's the difference that makes the difference. Great points.

Similar to Parkinson's Law: Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.

Great thread as usual my friend!

Writing my deadlines on my smartphone is one of the most reliable ways I find to remember important deadlines. With so many things going at once it can be so easy to forget, but Iam always checking my phone throughout the day.

I work better with deadlines too. It probably doesn't work for everyone, but I know personally that I never miss a deadline. Problem is, I do allow myself to miss deadlines I only tell to myself! So sometimes these days I'll announce things to my list in advance (like, "look out for my email on Tuesday where I'll be sending you xx") that kind of deadline is one I just can't miss, and really forces me to be productive!

I keep a list of jobs that need doing and set them into three groups of prioritization - low, middle and high. Then I give each job a deadline with the higher priority jobs generally receiving a shorter deadline length than the lower ones unless they are massive jobs.

You are very right, setting deadlines is a very good habit to form because it keeps you from procrastination and helps you to complete projects on time, especially when written down. Certainly what's measured gets done!

deadlines always work, if they did not, why would every organisation put them in plce. I too work very efficently with deadlines in place. Especially in IM, it is important to set deadlines since we are all working from home

Deadlines are a critical aspect to goal and milestones absolutely!

Ask any partner I have ever worked with, I am hugely into creating and then sticking with pre-set deadlines. It's amazing how much more productive you are!

    Nice post
