Any Vision Board fans?

I am studying Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" for the 3rd time. I love this book!!!!!!! What a life changer. About a year ago, after reading the chapter on Desire: The First Step to Riches, I started working on a Vision Board to really get in touch w/ what my deep desires are.

I pulled this project out again over the past couple of days, as I am getting ready to launch an online business and I wanted to revisit my deep desires and use those images on my Vision Board as motivation while I do goal-setting.

Anyone else out there use a Vision Board as a motivational tool?

I just wanted to add that a year ago, when I started my board, I only cut out images and thought about what I wanted on the board. I bought two large foam core boards and put them together to make one huge board - my dreams are too big to fit on just one foam core board! What's new for me now, one year later is that I am gluing the images on... committing to my vision and will post it on a wall so that I see it first thing after I wake up. I want my vision to drive my goals and keep my goals alive for my new online business.

This got me to thinking... Are goals a subset of one's overall vision?

Of course, it allows you to clearly visualize your goals. It's very different what's in your head and what's really out there, so a vision board kind of serves as a bridge between those two.

Thanks Cynthea for giving us the chance to discuss these matters.

I've put together something on my computer, but I haven't made a physical vision board yet.

I see the value in having a vision board or vision book/journal for times when I don't have the computer on.

I've heard/read about vision boards before and think they are a great idea, i just haven't made one. I think today is the day I finally take action and put my vision to paper. I am also interested in this "mind movie" concept. Please explain.

A vision board is powerful, I have one right by my desk, I manifest a few things from it but not the very big things I'm looking to attain, but I know they will show up shortly :0)

Give your vision board a try and let us know how it goes, I will say order robb report it an awesome magazine and Pics you can put on your vision board...

Ok, so the mind movie, I think is a lot cooler than the vision board because you put affirmations and music to your pictures, so you attract things a lot faster to your life. You can check in youtube mind movies and they will appear so you can see what I mean.

And mind movies is a brand so you can buy their software so they can show you how to make your own in one day.

    Hope this helps

How do you process the movies? Do you have to send them to the "Mind Movies" company to process, or can you upload it in any format you like?

      Will appreciate your response. TIA

When you buy the program, the give you a software to do that, but you can make your own mind movie if you know how to edit powerpoint presentations, or using some kind of software that helps you make them.

        Hey there,

Just edit your own using video editing software. Unless you want a Hollywood style and spend money.

Remember everyone, ACTION is what gets the results at the end of the day. But engraving the goals deep in your subconscious literally guarantees you success someday from vision boards and videos.

Always keeps you mentally strong and doesn't let distractions take you away

Great post. I did this three years ago and achieved everything on my board in less than a year. At the time I wished I would have put bigger goals on it. I keep meaning to do a new one but I've been procrastinating. That's a good project for this week as I am doing all of my organizing and maintenance work this week.

swilliams09, thanks so much for sharing!

I finished my board this past weekend and it is now up on my wall... I spent a lot of time finding relationship pictures. One whole corner of the board is devoted to close-knit friends clearly enjoying each other's company; happy, laughing family relationships; and couples enjoying a deep and rich intimacy , living life to the fullest.

I made sure to do this, so that my board wasn't just about material things. My deepest desires have to do with traveling the world and being deeply engaged with life.

My VB is the 1st thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. I go through all the images when I wake just meditating on the beauty of each image. I experience how the rich life feels... and how deep and meaningful it feels to be enormously fulfilled.

I love that we each encourage each other on WF to DREAM BIG and then take actions toward those goals.

My first vision board was really simple. I put images of $1000 with my bank logo on them and the words savings. I put the camera I wanted, the car I wanted, the relationship I wanted and the weight I wanted to lose. I got some freelance work, cleaned up my credit, paid off a few debts, went to the gym and started being more social and ended up getting all of those things.

I put a copy in my office, in my bedroom and in my bathroom for throne time.

My new vision board will include my family and spending time with them. Being fully self employed and successful, and being in the best shape of my life. I don't need material things this time around. I need to grow my business and spend time with my parents and my daughter, and cut out my bad habits. That's what I want.

    Hello Cynthea,

    Yes. I am.

They work for me so well, it's kind of scary. John Asaraf is a passionate advocate of VBs. I think they help in making the goals or visions more ''real'' and that may affect our level of motivation positively. It's probably no longer an intellectual thing, when we can ''see'' our goals/visions.

    Thanks,

    Michael Newman

I like the vision board idea. It's another way to get clear in your mind what you really want, the why you are doing what you are doing. Without this, you are spinning your wheels.

JR, that's exactly what I found. In creating my vision board, I became very, very clear about what I wanted in life. That clarity led to me making some very profound changes, which led to greater happiness. It also helped me to get very serious about goals, because once I saw how big my dreams are (your vision board becomes a direct reflection of yourself... think of it as a mirror)...I instantly knew that the key to achieving that vision would be to break it down into steps, with manageable weekly goals.

If we only daydream about our vision, we're less apt to take the steps and the actions that will help us manifest our vision.

The only thing that I found with Vision board was that I could not get into the right emotional state. I therefore took the images and turned them into a mind movie and now I seem to be moving forward.

Definitely use a vision board as you can think of it as your treasure map to success. I'm slowly redoing mine but having issues getting some of the right types of pics and text i want on there. dreamstime is a good source of premium royalty free images as well.

I started using mind movies and a vision board about a year ago. In that time I have achieved many of my goals that were on the board and in the movie.

I have read Think and Grow Rich probably 100 times now and every time I do something else jumps out at me.

Some of the biggest results though have come from writing down 5 affirmations and repeating them outloud for 5 minutes each every day. I have found through personal experience that if I repeat them after meditating, to relax my mind, focused only on breathing, for at least 15 minutes they have more of an effect on my mind and I stay focused better all day.

This process, for me, has brought faster results and more clarity in my planning, focus and daily actions. Try it yourself for 90 days, every day, and you will be amazed at how fast it will bring changes to your life.

    I've never used vision boards.

However, I'd like to share a very real result I witnessed being achieved. Some years ago, a friend cut out photographs from magazines and pasted up her board. Among other things, she had a photograph of a gas stove on there.

Interesting thing- this was not the specific model she wanted....she just wanted a gas stove. Lo and behold, less than a year later, she had a gas stove...and it was the EXACT model and colour that she had on her board!

    Presumably they work...

If having a vision board in front of you on a regular basis inspires you, I say go for it. If it doesn't, and instead reminds you of how far you've got to go before you get there, then do not do it. It will do more damage than good.

Personally, I don't use vision boards, because they're created by my conscious mind, which basically is clueless as to what incredible, amazing things are possible for me. I do visualize however - but only on things that make me feel wonderful.

If the visualization feels like work, it's pointless. I think this is why so many people get discouraged in this "LOA" process. They focus on what they think is possible - NOT on what lies closest to their heart; what they truly should be focusing on.

    Just my 2c.

Interesting perspective. For me, the vision board grew out of Chapter 2 - Desire, from Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich. When I got in touch with my deep and true heart's desires, my life really began to change in big ways; I had a profound realization that I had let go of many of my dreams... and it was at that moment of realization that I knew it would be important for me to do a vision board - specifically to get in touch with the desires that lay closest to my heart.

It is a thrill now, to see that vision board on my wall right before I go to asleep and first thing upon waking. These are my dreams and they are as real to me now as what I ate for dinner three hours ago.

Rather than reminding me "of how far you've got to go before you get there," it reminds me with such strong beautiful images, that this is the life that my Higher Power inspired me with and because the dreams and desires come from deep within me, all I have to do is apply faith, imagination, action and persistence... and it is only a matter of time before I begin to see all that is on my vision board - by impressing upon my subconscious through the principle of autosuggestion - come to pass!

"...I had a profound realization that I had let go of many of my dreams..."

Cynthea, that happens so easily and to so many of us due to the pressures and immediacy of day-to-day existence and survival...and we grow old and wistfully reminisce about that which we had wanted to achieve, but somehow these dreams never realised.
They just quietly evaporated like mist before the morning sun, leaving a melancholy memory of that which could have or should have been. This life and the opportunity for growth (as soul) is so fleeting, that to abandon our dreams is tantamount to criminal negligence! (Unlike "earth" criminality, the victim here is oneself!)

This need not be so....and using any one of a number of powerful techniques, like a vision board, our dreams can be realised.

Thanks for your post- you refreshed something that I had lost sight of!

@ gr8tocr8 : The conscious mind (as you describe it) is one of the most powerful tools at our disposal. Like any tool, it can be employed for good or bad and all shades in-between. For most people, the tool is the only thing they are aware of and it is firmly in the driving seat of their existence!

The trick seems to be not to let the tool create the dream....properly, that is the province of the deeper self/soul/whatever term works for you....the mind is merely the powerful instrument employed to develop and bring that dream/image into manifestation in this world.

So, if the underlying content on a vision board is indeed created by the mind, I'd tend to agree with you. However, if this content stems from a deeper place, then the vision board becomes a potent aid to the conscious mind in it's job.

And this should in no way discount the need for material things....we live in a material world where we need material things to live, experience, create, grow and express.

    ....just my 2c ;-)

Piero - your post was worth way more than 2 cents, buddy!! I especially appreciated "They just quietly evaporated like mist before the morning sun, leaving a melancholy memory of that which could have or should have been. This is about our soul's journey - so it's about connecting with ourselves at a very deep level. But the fun part is that this is not work! This is using our imagination to connect w/ our dreams, own them, ignite them w/ spirit and then applying action to seeing them come true.

There is Great, Great Power in the imagination - it propels our work and creates momentum for a passions to transmute our desires into gold.
